      I've come to realise as an INFJ without a system to put things in place,motivation makes no difference.

      Hey, super video once again! I've always felt like Mainstream Motivation was just too superficial for me...
      and the "hustle / grind" stuff were already things I was doing even up to a point of burning out. May be exactly because I don't have the energy to be constatly working. For me "work smarter" is a bigger motivation than "work harder". All of the things you mentioned were super relatable!

    • @Andreas_Reuter
      @Andreas_Reuter ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great video - resonates deeply with me! Mainstream motivation for me always pushes forward a narrative that you screw up your entire incarnation if you don't achieve x, y, or z. Incarnation failed. How delusional.... That's really very naive...

    My motivation is that one day I'm going to live alone, can travel alone and do whatever I want. So I need to work to earn money. The problem is I want also to be happy while working and that's kinda hard.

    People tend to falsely attribute my strong effort to my boss’ ability to motivate me. I’m also falsely pinned as being a pushover sometimes.
    What people fail to realize is that in both scenarios, I only behave that way to get what I want. I care more about my outcome than what others think about me.

    I lost count on how many times people gave me the deadbeat mainstream advice.
    And I had to keep telling them, it doesn't work like that for me.
    Which is where they usually think we're just being difficult, for the sake of it.
    Those time were so frustrating, I nearly started to think it was just me, making excuses. The very thing, they start accusing us of.
    Just because they don't know nor understand.

    I tried to explain to a friend that knowing I'm a "Scorpio" means nothing. I am the opposite of what I'm supposed to be. Knowing I'm an INFJ explains everything. She doesn't want to hear it.
    My alleged astrological sign is a hard-charging leader, aggressive, vengeful, very sexually motivated. Couldn't be farther from who I am. I've had her and others try to point out how I fit the mold. They really have to stretch to find any examples of me behaving that way. If that fails, they just say that my something else (moon, Saturn, whatever) is in something else and that explains why I'm the opposite of what I'm supposed to be.

    I enjoy my alone time a lot. I don't mind socializing at work or at open mic nights, but at the end of the work day or after the open mic show is over, I love to just go home to my cat, my music, exercise routine and my books and writing materials. I'm an introvert, so I need lots of time to recharge my batteries.

  • @BC-pl3df
    @BC-pl3df ปีที่แล้ว +5

    A lot of the motivational advice out there is basically a call for action and that's exactly what an INFJ needs. They need a push. Honestly this is an area where a sensor can help an INFJ because it's something obvious yet something an INFJ is slow to do anyways. Also an extraverted sensor doesn't have many barriers to just doing something (a curse and a blessing), while an INFJ can think of a hundred excuses not to do something they know that they need to do to get what they want.

    As an INFJ, that’s why I created a music channel. I love music and music is safe zone for me. It takes my over thinking mind off of stuff that’s bothering me and truly be at peace and present with myself while maintaining a good work flow and motivation or bring calmness into my space. Through my videos, I’m hoping to help other like minded people find that same peace and serenity I strive for every single day.

    This notion of how we interact with motivation and, by extension, the Self-Help field in it's entirety is why I was initially repelled when your channel was being recommended. I see "life coach" and immediately think there is no value for me based on experience. I am exceptionally glad to be proven wrong.

  • @mirelavb8751
    @mirelavb8751 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You know what. I need more. I have proven to myself countless number of times that I'm the person who keep up promises to myself and make things happen. I am true INFJ but I developed so many qualities to handle life in order to be independent, effective and disciplined, I self analyzed my self to the point of throwing off all psychological garbage that was piled on me during growing up. I am optimized. I like my self. I'm the kind of person I respect. But I have hard time motivating myself to advance professionally and to realize my potential in that domain. And later get more money. But I'm not going to talk to my self in that critical way like: "You are not the kind of person who keeps promises to herself, who stick to things" if I can't get my self to do it. I won't do it for two reasons: 1. I AM that person and 2. I am practicing kindness toward myself. I am trying not to be harsh and critical as I have tendency to be (to my self and others). So, I need more. How to get me to do something that would be good for me, but which is not something that I want THAT much (like I want it cause it would be good for me and my kids), and all that when there is nothing I need to prove to myself?

    This is how stoopid I am
    Coming back from company trip to ATL I’m booking through the airport exhausted and there is a concierge? To assist at a corner
    It’s Atl everyone is polite and talks in passing
    He’s says “How are u doing” typically nicely
    I quip “I hate walking”
    And get ten steps past before I realize he was in a wheelchair like he has never walked ever
    I go back and apologize but this is my hilarious life

    Your observation is correct. Mainstream motivational videos may not work as the goals are different for an INFJ. Fame, position in society, money - all are important, but INFJ may not aspire for those things at one point in time as a part of a journey in search of deeper meaning. However, the routes followed by honest achievers may be interesting and provide a clue about the next step. Deep rooted positive vibes, funny acts in popular films and cartoons, and songs have universal appeal for all, including INFJs.

    This is interesting I never thought about this. I look at motivational speakers or videos and they’re almost too basic for me and two simple, and really don’t drive me, I get my motivation from actually videos like this or any other video that’s geared towards a self-help or about who I am. I feel more motivated when I learn more about myself than having somebody tell me to go out in the world and do something

    Being rather in the background …
    But there are some interesting points.
    There is intrinsic motivation, and extrinsic motivation. Rewards could come from inside, or it could come from outside. If it comes from inside, it gives some independence.
    Being rather indifferent to social hierarchies, sharing thoughts could challenge the status quo. In some groups, there could be a reaction like "who are you to challenge our beliefs", pulling you into status struggle instead of joining the exchange of thoughts.

    Looking at the 'bigger picture' is what 'some' are into. Day to day tasks can seem tedious and you question the reason 'why' we are actually 'doing these things'. More money is not everything and 'promoting' yourself 'all the time is a very 'shallow' existence and does not give 'fulfillment'. What exactly are we 'hustling' for? You get to the top of the 'greasy pole' and there is still more things you 'need' to do in order to 'get to the top'. Who are the 'role models' in society now. Being happy and content with 'who you are' is not apparently 'acceptable' for status worshippers in society. May we all 'be content' with who we are and not let others 'bully' us into being the people 'they' want us to be.

    Whenever someone tries to use motivation on me, I try to see why they are trying to motivate me. What's in it for them? Also, it's unwise to let people, especially at the top, know which strings to pull to make the puppet dance. Plus, the usual rewards come with way too many strings attached. Even after you've gotten the reward, people will hold the fact that you've gotten the reward over your head to get you to do more things.

      The truth! Especially in the corporate world. That is all it is. Its an onion. Peel away the layers and its all just naked greed from those at the top. The whole thing is set up to make the most lowly employee be motivated to climb, climb, climb. The managers will try every motivating string in the book to squeeze every once of energy out of you for their goals. And they are on the same treadmill. And its all so some CEO or owner can make 1000 to 2000 times your salary. No thank you. I have done my time in this universe!

I find that the things I do that I am really good at (soft skills) take energy, but that feels like people take that for granted. Then they want me to expend a lot of energy to improve my life. • @bethiciaprasek9415
      @bethiciaprasek9415 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Stephen Besley, I felt that way also, but then realized I could be in sales if it were the best route for me to help more people.
      I am not a salesman, but I enjoy working alongside my internal and external customers to make their lives better. If you were really passionate about a solution you knew would make your customers' lives so much better (especially if you both designed it together in order to meet their specific needs), wouldn't you be proud and happy for the opportunity?
      I doubt most salesmen feel the product they are promoting is rubbish. It is a stereotype much like all lawyers are leaches, or all politicians are just in it for the money. One door in your career which is closed due to prejudice leaves fewer opportunities for success.
      Speaking as another person who emphatically stated and knew I could never be a salesman. That route is still on my plate, especially as I hope to move to consulting. If you own your own business then you need to be a salesman or hire someone who is but likely not as passionate about the product or service you provide.
      Just food for thought. 😃

    Wenzes hit the nail on the head here! This is exactly what I've been experiencing lately. The people around me (who do care about me very much) keep telling me to do certain things to improve my life, but those things are mostly focused on the material world.
    I know that these things do need to get addressed (i.e. new car, home improvement) but I also know that deep down they aren't going to make me that much happier.
    I know I need to start doing the "inner work" which for me is a spiritual approach, but I don't talk to loved ones about it, b/c I know they won't understand.

    • @YAMISOOLD2009
      @YAMISOOLD2009 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes there is no guarantee that any loved one in our sphere is going to understand any of this. Most people are sensors and what motivates them and their overall view of the world is vastly different from ours. And in the end it doesn't matter that that is so. It just matters that we who are intuitives and INFJs specifically learn what makes us motivated and learn how to make ourselves happy. Then we can be happy and content with the senors that we are surrounded by.

    • @stevenkinscherf6642
      @stevenkinscherf6642 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@YAMISOOLD2009 Very well said! Personally, I just recently learned that statistically most people are sensors, which explains so much.
      You are absolutely right, INFJ's should do what works for us, and if we are happy in the end, that's what matters! And we can still have good relationships with the sensors in our lives!

      @@stevenkinscherf6642 I love the biggest sensor in my life...my wife. I didn't love myself very much for a long time and am still working on that. I think understanding the sensor/intuitive divide is more important than understanding the Extrovert/introvert divide to be honest.

      @@YAMISOOLD2009 I get it, I've been working at self acceptance for a long time. Not easy.
      And that's a great point, the sensor/intuitive difference is more significant. In MBTI, the terms introvert and extrovert are really vague. I also follow a channel called "dear kristin" and she talks about that a lot. Like how an ISFJ and INTJ are both "introverts" but they are very different types because one has dominant Si, while the other has dominant Ni. Plus other differences.

      @YAMISOOLD2009 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stevenkinscherf6642 thanks Steven for the reply. I may check the other channel out too. As I sit here with my coffee I think it's just one of those unfair realities that us intuitive types are made to feel bad about ourselves since we are wired to ruminate and compare ourselves to the sensors who make up so much of the population. The sensors obviously have all the human trials an travails but they are generally unburdened by our specific mental ruminating and self judging.

    I don't know what kind of "mainstream motivation" you're talking about, but almost all serious self-development books these days are about exactly what you're talking about- big picture, work smarter not harder success with the goal of personal independence. Maybe some fluff-type books are about more shallow, unsustainable motivation rather than true wealth building? Or maybe I just figured out what to look for and I ignore everything that's not "in the Tao" now haha.

    Thank you! The relief I felt watching this was because it's very relatable. Honestly, it made a few pennies drop and gifted me a little hope. In my current state, I'm stuck in a place of wondering what the purpose of anything is; I have lost sight of the bigger picture and fantasize about some higher power wiping away everyone's memories of me, followed by the exile of my existence in this place.
    I’m in a dark place. It's becoming detrimental to my lifestyle. I have several books on psychology and motivation. I tried revisiting them but find I can't get past the first chapter because (in the end) they’re basically all the same with similar insights and meanings.
    The simple fact that this video is relatable and there are others in the same boat has made me feel like I might be fixable.
