I’ll listen to whatever he’s gonna say…Now it’s comforting whenever I hear him say “what’s up it’s your boy, Tim”! After being forced to move my apartment in my workshop, a year and a half ago, I’ve really began to rethink my life in terms of material possessions. The moves really brought to the forefront, the fact that I was owned by my possessions rather than me owning them. Well done! Contentment is success. We are born into and programmed by the Matrix. We are told what success is. Social conditioning. Pressured to make the grade. To seek acceptance. But we should seek to escape the machine. The rat race. Seek peace and contentment. Not stuff. Internal completeness. Not external acceptance.
I've only had 1 car in my lifetime because I never felt the need for it personally but I got questioned and STILL get questioned why don't I have or want a car despite all the good that I did and do with my money. Having an apt instead of a house also got me the raised eyebrow. I used to care but now I could care less.
I've resisted what society has wanted me to do for many years now. I'm 53 and have never really liked other people's ideas for my life, so I have always chosen my own. It's not always easy, but I know I'm being my authentic self and I can be responsible for my mistakes and successes equally. Great video, Tim. Thank you.
@@girlwithpearls I get ya. We're caught in a spiral. The majority of us aren't satisfied with what we have because we measure our worth by what others have. Hardly do we consider how much debt they're in, how much bondage they've put themselves in... and for what? It's not worth it.

Notice most people ask others “what do you do?” Right after their name. Cause most people are defined by their jobs. I always ask people other things before that or start conversations about what’s going on around us rather than just their job or how much money they have. Very much like you I love the tiny house videos and people who are happy with what they need and some entertainment but not trying to just hoard material things. It’s ok to have what you need and not just want to have the most. Some of the people who have lots of stuff are the most miserable people on earth.
Tim, you absolutely *have* helped me to realize that turning away from the pursuit/trappings of success is okay. You ARE a light. Thank you. Shine on, friend.
Since I was a kid I never saw myself or wanted to be when I grew up working in a corporate environment in an office in front of a computer wearing a suit and tie, or living in a mansion in a gated community surrounded by golf courses what a lot of people would consider success, I always wanted to be outdoors in the wilderness which was and is what makes me happy.
Great message Tim. I've been thinking about these things for a long time and have come to the same conclusions. Society has sold us a bill of lies and many are waking up to it. Personally I've never fit in to mainstream society. The usual things that motivate people....status, possesions, workaholic, money....just don't for me. I'm one of those that just wants to walk around the woods. And actually have been paid at times to do just that. Anyway, great message. At this point we all need to reassess what matters most. Working a meaningless job to feed the machine ain't it.
You're so right. Personal development, not achievement and possessions, has always been my goal. It does bother me sometimes when people judge me based on what I don't have, but I'm working on rising above it. To be able to do that really is an art.

I have a good story regarding the last part of the video. My friend works with this girl in the Government who has been in her position for about 10 years (An entry level position), where she works with this online program that she's learned from top to bottom. She's been offered numerous promotions, which obviously include more money as well as more work and responsibility, but she's turned every one of them down. She just enjoys coming into work, zoning out for 8 hours working with the program where she makes her $800 a week and doesn't care to move beyond that. It takes care of her monetary needs and she's happy. A truly inspirational un-successful success story! 😊
An art form I have mastered lol Seriously though, we do get to define what success means to us in our own lives. I've never cared that much about worldly success. I don't need that much.

That’s purity Tim we’ve deviated from our natural purpose just the regular creatures. We think very highly of ourselves but ultimately we’re just ordinary. Love your show
Thank you. We face a lot of pressure to stay busy all the time. Success to me has become figuring out how to save a little at a time while remaining fed and housed, but also to afford the luxury of time when I need to rest. It has taken sacrifice, to be sure, but mainly it’s been about prioritizing myself and paying attention to the signals my body and psyche send me.
This is healthy conversation right here my friend . Sad part is when you don’t have a bunch of money ( even if you have a home , car and food and extra for some fun ) but not enough to flash around and look good on social media then you are broke and it’ll be family too that cuts you down

Absolutely love this video. Although I would consider myself to be quite ambitious, it does help to question the why behind my doing. I've had to turn down opportunities that did not truly speak to the joy in my heart, but rather would have looked good to others on paper. It's tough, because of the ambition and wanting of "success", but you're right, it is not everything, and in fact, it's hardly anything. I really appreciate you and the wisdom and comfort your videos hold. Thank you!
Amen brother. The Word Of God says that if we have food enough to eat and a roof over our heads, to be content. I'm addition, having less stuff often means having less debt and worry.
I just want to be comfortable, basic needs met with enough to do the things I want to do like travel, crafts, and meeting like minded people. I simply want to breathe!❤
I live in Indiana, and everyone drives either a Jeep or a big truck. But they can't pay their rent on time or afford groceries. Groceries are expensive as hell, but shouldn't that be the priority over living up to society's expectations?
At 35, the way success looks to me is just simply not worth the hassle and stress. I'd rather enjoy the simple things in life, work my 9-5, and build my financial freedom/independence. To be honest, I'm actually quite happy with what I have, but I would like to eventually buy my own home. I am going to inherit my parents home with my brother, but I would like to get my own place for myself as well, but I'll be happy staying where I am for now.
In my humble opinion, this advice is "nice" to hear when times are good, but when times are bad, which they will be very soon (economically speaking) then people with no assets will regret not working to achieve anything. Just my opinion. You made a lot of great points in this video, I just wanted to put that out there.
Thank you for all you do Tim. You are my favorite person on TH-cam and I haven’t super chatted in a while so I wanted to help and support your channel and am really annoyed at people who said there was a mountain lion in the background. I really hope you are okay 👍 Tim and will be okay ✅. Praying for you and wishing you all the best.
Hey Tim. Recently came across your channel. Appreciate you man! Not sure if you’ve touched on this in one of your videos but, if not, here’s an idea for you. I’ve been focusing a lot on some of my hobbies lately: pickleball, tennis, hiking. Sometimes I find myself subconsciously feeling bad about myself since I’m spending so much time on these activities rather than doing something “important”. And that got me thinking how truly ridiculous it is that we view the act of trading our time for money as the most legitimate way to live our lives. Like, if I’m hiking for money, then it’s okay. So sad. Anyways, I just thought this was something you could maybe share your thoughts on. Hope you’re having a great day dude!! 😊
Its ok to just live life. No one was given an instruction manual on how to live life the "right" way. People in many countries dont even have jobs yet live longer lives, healthier and don't get hate from their peers for just "being".
Most people think they are trying to be the best version of themselves when really they are trying to be what society had in mind for them
😬 good point. Tough pill to swallow though, especially if you’re one of those people who fell for it

I love the feeling of not caring about the thoughts and judgements of miserable never ending success chasing belittling others, soul type people... I'm happy and unsuccessful those free flying geese came thru on time ....🎉🎉🎉 I'm 51 and very aware of our societal follies...🎉🎉❤ you Tim
Simply put..You decide what success means for you! Don’t allow society or others define your success.. Your success is YOUR business, not theirs!❤
It’s SUPER REFRESHING TO SEE YOUR VIDEOS TIM!! 😊
Hello Timothy and everyone . Another great message
👍🏾
We came here with nothing and will leave here with nothing. It all makes sense.
Thank you for reminding us to enjoy our lives. My dog looked so confused when she heard the geese, it freaked her out 😂
😂😂😂
Thank you Tim, I really needed to hear this! Keep up the awesome videos. All the best!
Thank you!
I appreciate you giving this message sir
Excellent talk today Tim🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!
Your topics are real and your talking in front of the camara skills are second to none. Keep up the great work
Thank you! I will! 👍🏾
That background is "chef's kiss".
I would rather be the owner of 1 dollar than a slave to 2 dollars
One of your most insightful videos. And I am loving it!
I just want to be comfortable, basic needs met with enough to do the things I want to do like travel, crafts, and meeting like minded people. I simply want to breathe!❤
You are on to something. I don't like hustle culture and the emphasis we place on money. I have no heirs and don't care if I am ever wealthy.
Beautiful Tim ❤ Facts!!!
I live in Indiana, and everyone drives either a Jeep or a big truck. But they can't pay their rent on time or afford groceries. Groceries are expensive as hell, but shouldn't that be the priority over living up to society's expectations?
I absolutely love this video! Perfectly presented and stated, thank you Timothy for being an honest man.
THANK YOU TIM! You're always on time✊🏿✌🏿
At 35, the way success looks to me is just simply not worth the hassle and stress.
It's actually how I found your channel 2 years ago- I was searching 'failing in life' 😅😢
Thank you Tim 😊
I agree 100%.
Hey, you have a youtube channel aswell right?I like your videos😊I hope im not mistaking you for someone else.
In my humble opinion, this advice is "nice" to hear when times are good, but when times are bad, which they will be very soon (economically speaking) then people with no assets will regret not working to achieve anything. Just my opinion. You made a lot of great points in this video, I just wanted to put that out there.
I thought the geese were outside my house as it is that time of year
😂😂
Me and a best friend of mine just had a long conversation about this. Success is wha we define success as and not what society has bestowed on us.
Exactly!
I love it! Amazing video Tim
😅😅the standing ovation from the geese. They even agree.
Thank you Praveen! I really appreciate you my friend!
@@TimothyWard you are okay 👍 if I’m correct? Just checking. Thank you 🙏
