67 y\o American and I still have to wipe a tear or two after hearing this neary 10 years on. I saw them live in Portland in '15 and it was so surreal I couldn't begin to digest it. Atlas is a masterpiece and golden as they are they['ll never cook it up like this again.
crying rn. this song will forever remind me of my tio rafa… it’s rly hard for me to listen to music whenever a tragedy is occurring in my life. i had this song on repeat as he was on his way to dying. i have no idea what this song is about but the guitar just made it feel like everything was gonna be alright regardless of the outcome. thank you so much, Real Estate.
the true mark of any singer or band, is how they sound live.....they sound EXACTLY like the record...mark of a really good group...in this case its amazingly close...excellent!!
According to iTunes, I've listened to this song over 40 times in the last two weeks ... addicting! Love the entire album - has a sound reminiscent of Starfish by The Church.
A young work colleague put me onto War on Drugs and after listening to some of their great songs, this song came onto my Spotify feed. I was totally addicted after the first hearing. This song, Had to Hear, and Crime are the pick from Atlas. I just find this so easy to listen to over and over again.
I was on the Oregon coast having a meal at a pub in Coos Bay. Horizon, from Atlas, came on and I was blown away. The guy who had requested it was having his birthday with his sister after a painful breakup. I asked about the band and he replied that they had "changed his life". I'd have been skeptical but I have he album, and I had to good fortune to hear them live in Portland summer 2015. Good stuff!
Absolutely beautiful...Had to find out the name of this song after hearing it on the radio yesterday and it going through my head all night and today....
It's such a shame they didn't use this guitar solo on the album. This one has so much more feeling to it, the final version is underwhelming in comparison and fades out too quickly.
When the night is young in the land I'm from The seasons ghost away The stars at night obscured by light Can still lead me though this Don't know where I want to be But I'm glad that you're with me And all I know is it'd be easy to leave And in my mind I can't see the street Where you and I will live You still can't see the stars at night But we're not primitive Don't know where I want to be Oh but I'm glad that you're with me And all I know is it'd be easy to leave

this is way different from the album version, the riff at the end was almost improvised and you can tell it annoyed the lead singer lol
this is a very different version, especially the outro. also excellent.

one of my favorites from this album, and it's just as good (if not better) live. Real Estate, I love you.

Oh hi Drew my man!
This is one the best chillaxed groups. Also best road trip bands. Windows down and fresh, NY Upstate air coursing through your lungs! Love it

It was a magical formula. Just not the same without him.
When the night is young in the land I'm from
The seasons ghost away
The stars at night obscured by light
Can still lead me though this
Don't know where I want to be
But I'm glad that you're with me
And all I know is it'd be easy to leave
And in my mind I can't see the street
Where you and I will live
You still can't see the stars at night
But we're not primitive
Don't know where I want to be
Oh but I'm glad that you're with me
And all I know is it'd be easy to leave
My favorites song. Thanks RealEstate

ucodetiaw Thank you so much! I'm listening to it right now and it looks awesome
Mac demarco // craft spells // deerhunter //slowdive //melody echo chambers can help you too
If you like the guitar solo sound, try a band called Felt. Hope you like it.
Real Estate are famous/ infamous for never straying far from this entirely chill sound. I'd say listen to all of Atlas, it's fantastic.
