Wow, the best Bretwalda How to Play video I've seen! Very clear and precise. There is one error when you spoke of applying wounds. The rules actually state that they must be assigned to the lowest tier unit first, for every round of battle. For the case of your combat example, the Eldorman can not take damage until the Ceorl is destroyed first. Then, after combat you only draw ONE Lordship card. Only Wessex player draws two and chooses, because of their ability. Also, player ships use white die for combat unless they are upgrade with the purchase of a specific Kingdom tile. For Summer Dane bid, you draw Dane cards equal to highest bid PLUS one. Danes do not retreat to the ships if defeated on land. They are destroyed. Drakkar ships also place Pillage tokens to areas adjacent to their sea location. Thank you for such great content!
Thank you ☺️. I see the latest version of the rulebook posted now in June, and this video is based on the rules from April. So that's where the differences come from. The rules are not final and I believe they will change even after the end of the campaign. And hopefully there will be another video with the final version of the game. :)
Didn't expect this since it's 3:30 am in Ontario, Canada but you're probably having your morning coffee where you are ; ) Once again, love the logo update!!
This is THE instructional video to watch for Bretwalda. Excellent as always, thank you. I noted the few errors pointed out below , maybe add these somewhere prominent? Game looks right up my alley and I love it has some randomness . Looks like a Euro/Ameritrash hybrid and they often hit the sweet spot for me
Thank you very much. :) This is a prototype version and the rules are not final. Therefore, I believe there will be another video once the final game will be available. :) My latest draft rulebook is from end of April, and I see the latest version (even with graphics! ☺️) from June. That's where the differences come from. 🙂
Another great "how-to-play" video. What do you think about the map?? I had the opportunity to play it. it's beautiful but not very functional.......I hope in better and clearest colors so they can help you to see all these small marks on the board (FOOD-COINS-CITY-CAPITAL....) and the NAME OF EACH AREA! The setup was difficult ......
No idea, I'm sorry... I know very little about that part of the history, so I can't evaluate how much this is beneficial from the educational perspective.

Looks of the game is very thematic. Very well explained as always!

I agree, the map is beautiful but difficult to read.
What level of educational value would you say this game has?

Thanks. Looks like too much randomness for me
