    According to legend, right before this gig Keith broke an ankle during one of his drunken shenanigans. And then, when his also-drunk friends were taking him to the local doctor to get it fixed, they dropped him down the stairs, and he broke the other one. And you have to keep in mind that he used two bass drums. What cortisone injections couldn't cure back then!

    @doctorrobert1339 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    In my opinion definitely a better and more energetic performance than IOW 1970, they sound really tired from touring in that gig, with the exception of a few songs like Water and I Don't Even Know Myself. It's indeed a shame this show wasn't professionaly recorded/filmed, or any show from this period really.

      I think I know why none of these shows were professionally recorded. They took America and the rest of the world by surprise. They were so good and so much better by light years than the last time they had toured in1968 that no provisions were made until it was too late and probably the greatest rock performances of all time had come and gone. 9:57

      Several shows from that year were recorded professionally.

      @@jasonsmith-bm1sv Name one. Pete burned them all and opted to take their chances on Leeds and Hull. Hull was flawed and they went with Leeds. Where are they pray tell?

      @@jasonsmith-bm1sv I know there are a few 1969 soundboards but they all seem to be incomplete, however I'm not as well versed in The Who bootlegs so point me to other complete recordings that aren't Woodstock, Amsterdam or London, if there is more than these. 1970 also got some notable full professional recordings, but is there more than the ones everyone knows?

    • @jasonsmith-bm1sv
      @jasonsmith-bm1sv ปีที่แล้ว

      The majority of the 1969 tour was recorded I believe. Pete destroyed most of the tapes, but a small handful have survived on acetates. Ottawa 1969 is one.@@edwardgonczy3170

    1:01:35 Shakin' All Over (Cut)
    1:05:27 My Generation (Audio Only + Small Clip 1:09:46)
    Full show with a few extra clips added in on a few songs from various TV reports. Quality isn't too good. Trying to AI upscale or use frame interpolation wasn't giving me good results because of how bad the quality is. So I just left it as is, apart from boosting the contrast slightly to make it a little less grey. Audio isn't terrible but it's very bass heavy since the camera is on the left side. The audio had a very annoying hissing sound on it too which I've managed to remove using EQ. It makes the show a lot more watchable now. There is a different audio recording of this show too which I used for Summertime Blues and My Generation since they weren't filmed. But I think it sounds a lot worse, and I also had to pitch shift and speed correct it to make it more listenable. The show as far as The Who's performance is really great. Only 2 weeks after Woodstock at their peak. Pete does one of the fastest windmills I've ever seen on Young man Blues 14:15. And on Sparks you can see him flipping his guitar around in between the big chords at the songs climax 27:08. It's a shame the show wasn't filmed properly like the 1970 show.
    I've listed all the extra clips added in throughout below. There is a good stretch starting at Fiddle About up to Smash The Mirror which has lots of other angles which is probably the best section of the show to watch.

    Heaven And Hell (2:23)
    Fortune Teller (6:35)

    Upload Isle Of Wight 1970 but remastered with 60fps next

    • @MontysRemasters
      @MontysRemasters  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Late and very long reply, but Isle Of Wight 1970 is pretty complicated. The official Blu-ray release was released in 30fps when it should have been 25fps like it original release. So the whole thing has ghosting on it because it's creating 5 extra frames every second making it not only blurry, but impossible to make 60fps in AI. It just looks jittery and bad. The old DVD release of the show from 2000 still in 4:3 is actually at the correct 25fps frame rate and can be made to a smooth 50fps. But the overall quality is no where the definition of the Blu-ray release. It's also not as complete, missing Substitute, Naked Eye and about a minute of Heaven and Hell. The show in general is edited so badly that fixing it up will be a huge job. Constantly using incorrect camera shots and out of sync footage. Some songs on it are made entirely from 100% wrong camera shots, like Overture as an example. I don't think Overture through to Eyesight To The Blind were even filmed. I recon the camera crew were having a 20 minute break, and started filming again on Christmas. Some songs only had 1 camera recording, but the people who edited the release just constantly swap to random shots of other songs. I want to make a version editing out all the wrong camera shots and just showing the authentic shots, but it will most likely just be the Blu-ray in it's ghostly 30fps form.

      @@MontysRemasters I loved reading this. Do you think you could upload Substitute from Isle of Wight 1970? I haven't seen a good resolution upload of it anywhere and there isn’t any other footage of them playing that song in 69-70

    • @VX_XI
      @VX_XI 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I honestly think that someone should do the same thing Monty did with Woodstock 1969 and Collesium 1969 and find all available footage in order to make the most complete version of the show, without the repeat shots used throughout the blu-ray release.

      Then Keith and John Sebastian got ahold of Pete's boiler suit and tie-dyed it. You can see that suit on the back of "Who's Next".

    • @BobbysArchive
      @BobbysArchive ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m pretty sure Pete wore the white jumpsuit so his acrobatics can be easier seen on stage. Keith would sometimes wear white shorts and shirt to match him. It’s partially the reason why 69-70 is personally my favorite Who era, Pete looks like an action figure and everybody moves around like they’re in an old cartoon.
