Hey prof! Love your channel. You should really try and get regular legacy gameplay! Favorite format and a lot of cool guests you could get. Would LOVE to see it!…. But I’ll watch no matter what it is 😂❤️
You know prof...I would be a LOT more inclined to watch non-commander episodes if they were just regular games, not this '3 v 1' or "if you lose you leave before side boarding" you often do. I just wanna see some good old 1v1 best of 3 magic games. Like Menguchi is doing. If you bring that, I'll consider sharing the videos.
This was an immediate auto-watch when I saw Reid, Jim, and Mason on the thumbnail. And I also love the standard format spotlight with the new set. Great stuff!
I feel that was the only reason a third game happened, Reid went 2-0, there was no other reason. AND Reid didn't diminish Prof's desore for a signature by saying he'd sign the mat, oh no, Prof had to earn it
The Professor really lives the casual magic players dream. Great games with great players. Not for stakes, but for fun. Plays multiple formats, has multiple decks, has a dedicated play space that is decorated to his liking, and he gets to make content out of all it that is deservedly beloved by the community. I used to watch the deck techs and tip videos religiously when I first got into playing and building decks of my own. I learned so much about magic through Profs videos and then vicariously through all the guest that have been brought on. I was stuck on being a 60 card player for a long time but then found out about commander and now it’s what I play and want to play the most because more players is just more fun. It’s great seeing standard being played but commander is my favorite format to watch on this channel. I like that there’s a weird mix of janky and high level decks in my group and at my LGS so seeing it be the same way on here for Shuffle Up and Play is endearing. The editor for the channel is absolutely great. All the comedic touches and little messages added in just make the videos that much more worth watching, so many props to them. From one magic fan to another, thanks for all the content TCC fam
I was pretty burnt out on watching people play Magic, but Shuffle Up and Play is so fun to watch. It really captures that feeling that only comes from playing Magic in person: players having a good time, cracking great (or awful) jokes with each other, and laughing, all while playing a game they love so much. Doesn’t feel too overproduced or artificial. Please keep it coming!
I don’t know why, but seeing Prof top deck the the win in pure style, shaking hands with with Reid, and then seeing Reid graciously sign Prof’s prized playmat got me a little teary-eyed. This is what Magic is all about - bringing people together for the good of the game, and maybe seeing a ray of light through all the noise and darkness in the world. Sorry to get deep - incredible video and I hope there are more like this to come!
So happy to final see Standard on Shuffle Up and Play after the past year of Prof puting out videos talking about the revitilization efforts! Standard is no joke the best constructed format in Magic right now. So many fun brews and a healthy metagame with a relatively low entry barrier, especially with the triomes and slow lands rotating!
Not even ten minutes in yet and I am once again blown away at how much I learn from Reid Duke every time I watch a video with him. I haven't played in-person Magic since playing around the kitchen table with friends in the late nineties, and I feel like watching Reid is a masterclass on what to do when playing live.
I think that this episode showcases one of the biggest rock paper scissors aspects of a well balanced game and metas, well mid range can beat other midrange, it tends to win against control, and tends to lose to fast aggro. Really good stuff, love ya professor.
New viewer here. I genuinely love how well paced this is. It makes it very easy to understand each card and its effects without being overly complicated.
What a blast. I always love when you do non-Commander episodes and have been quite hyped for Bloomburrow and post-rotation Standard these past few weeks - so this really was a treat :) Awesome editing work, as per usual, great decks and fun banter.
It's been too long since shuffle and play wasn't about Commander, and I had a blast this time, Reid Duke is pure class, and Prof winning with RDW was just cherry on top ! That's what a real Champio looks like !
wow, it's so cool they got the creator of garfield on the show! he looks way younger than I'd expect. And, like, _double_ wow. I mean, as someone who's played golgari midrange in standard, mono-red hyper aggro _is_ what it loses to, but still, congratulations to the Professor for making it happen. Just having a winning matchup is absolutely no guarantee against a player that good.
we used to cut the deck to see who went first, each of us would break our library in half somewhere and whoever had the higher mana cost card showing went first (i played back all around urzas block and masques a whole bunch). great video!!
@@mopanda81well, honestly there's nothing similar to synchro summoning in MtG. There's this very old creature called Spirit of the Night, and maybe that's the closest? It requires three specific creatures on the battlefield to let you play it directly from your deck.
Gonna give props to the editor, the hat on Jim saying "Women fear me, fish want me" made me laugh the most in this entire episode Edit: ok nevermind, just saw the Yugi hair Edit 2: imma have to stop, just saw the fruit hat
I'm loving Jim letting the editors have their fun. Absolute class act. This kind of makes Magic feel like Magic again. Everyone's having fun and they aren't taking themselves too seriously. Standard looks good apart from having a digital competitor. I know it'll never happen, but having some digital reward in your paper packs would go a long way in popularizing the format.
The hat bit was great. Reid Duke is always great. Prof ripping a Shock was great. This was amongst the best Shuffle Up and Play and I hope enough people watch it to make it worth it so we can get more of them.
Well, maybe this is the best Magic related video that I've watched this year so far (probably because I'm a Standard player mainly). A truly delight seeing Reid Duke battling such worthy opponents
great episode. thanks professor. also you are not old at all! honestly, you will look back in 10-15 years and realize how young you still are and how you felt old for no reason! if being 40s is old then damn! stay young and keep happy! love for you.
I said I would unironically enjoy a Standard episode of Shuffle Up 'n Play, and by Ojer Axonil, I did just that! Thank you Prof., and thank you to your wonderful guests for showing off some great new cards for what looks like a great new Standard!
That was a really nice match. I like watching your shuffle up and play. I started playing back in 96 haven't stopped playing. Now I play with my 2 oldest kids. What a fun game to play.
I am a Golgari Player by Heart and always using Reids Golgari Decks in MTG Arena. They are always a blast. So nice to have a face to name of the player, that builds such awesome decks.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Same, immediately watched to support the non-commander content. Great games.
Love how the Prof, a legend of Magic in his own right, could just ask for a signature on his playmat. Instead, he made sure he had to earn it.

Me and the editor shared the same braincell with that hat joke. 😂
The runescape party crown was hilarious
The way Jim said “Stop that” when he put the top hat on 😂 great job editor.
Editor carrying the "bad jokes" with prof 😂 😂
Prof has said he edits some of the shuffle up and plays, so it might be his amazing humor
It was great. Loved it! 😁

In the most respectful way: Reid Duke is like Jared Padalecki doing an impression of Keanu Reeves
God. The amount of money I’d pay to watch Padalecki do a Keanu Reeves impression while playing Magic is substantial.
