- Today I'm reacting to two Brazilian brothers who are a band called Banda Al9. This might be a little unusual to do, but they seem to be garnering some attention online, particularly for the use of my special clapping sequence. What do you think? Are they the Brazilian Beatles? Would you listen to their songs?

Well done!👍 keep the clapping alive!👏👏...👏
Ah... Os guri tão podendo!!! Além de Beatles, comparados a Beach Boys e The Mamas and the Papas. Parabéns!
Meudels! Parabéns meninos 👏👏👏👏 agora vocês foram longe demais kikikiki
Just a disclaimer here. In this song case “chama” is a verb and it’s a verbal flexion of the verb “chamar”, which means “call”. It may be confusing i know, but flame is the translation of the noun “chama”. So, “ela me chama de amor” can be translated to “she calls me love” lol
It's a quibble, a pun... right?
eu ia traduzir exatamente isso, o "chama" pode ser tanto chamar quanto chama de fogo, isso é uma coisa muito boa, porque a música faz você pensar nessas duas possibilidades
It's a proposal double meaning.
AL9 já tem o coração do Brasil, agora na gringa também 😌❤️🇧🇷
Hey man, I don't know if you'll actually see this or not, but thanks for letting me film on stage in Sacramento. It meant nothing to you but I'll remember it for the rest of my life. I didn't think it was possible to become a bigger fan of you and The Darkness, but that's what happened.
That’s really awesome that he let you get a cool memory for life! That’s why we love Justin - he does neat stuff like that from what I’ve heard!
You looked like you were having a pretty good time that night! So fun to be on stage :- )
@@MrRuffun it was unreal!
I watched your video a couple days ago - excellent footage! What an unforgettable experience!
@@NoodleMutt thank you! It was so much fun!
Oh that’s great! Reminds me a ton of The Hollies as well, with how the harmonies are layered. Wonderful to hear this kind of music being made
Where did you find these guys?! Really cool. I don’t have to understand what they’re saying to appreciate it! Music is truly universal. They definitely have that 50’s vibe with a modern twist!
That's how I felt about So. Korea's Broken Valentine
They have just released the English version of that song - just look it up on TH-cam: She Calls Me Love - AL9
Chama de amor is Flame of Love, and she's crazy for meeee! Is what there singing. Awesome videos as always. Loved meeting you and the band, VIP in San Francisco last week 🤘can't wait to see you guys again.
Great vocals an harmonies. Love it! They really belt it out. Though I would be more inclined to compare their style to the likes of The Mamas and The Papas and other American folk singers in the era of peace and love.
It’s very very Beatles influenced. Undeniably so!
The song sounds like the song Do You Want to Know a Secret
They’re really good. I watched a few of their videos. Seeing as though one of them plays a Rickenbacker 325-12, another a Hofner Violin Bass and the other a “Rocky” George Harrison Fender Stratocaster, I think we can safely assume they’re big Beatles fans!
Thanks for that reminder of ‘The Rutles’ had forgotten all about them, but I remember they were fun. Wish I had your memory. I will now pick up on the clapping routine, when I hear it in any song.
‘Chama’ has a double meaning in Portuguese, flame and call. The boys play on the words and it translates to something like this…
She calls me love( flame of love) calls me her love…
Ela me chama de amor (chama de amor), chama de amor
Great to see you around again @Justin Hawkins🤙🎸
Anyone else hearing an influence by The Mamas & The Papas here? Can definitely hear a hint of Lemon Twigs, The Beatles & The Ruttles too!
Love the “straight jacket”, Jus! Very Nick Kershaw-esque. 🥰
Wow, The Rutles! Love Neil Innes' parodies of The Beatles. Brilliantly observed and reinterpreted. I must be in love could actually be a Fab Four track. How about reacting to one of their songs?
The album is great, not a bad song on it.
I always love a Rutles shout-out!
@@stephenhensley5631Both of them 😉
Que tudo, eu não sabia da existência desse vídeo, amei!
I love the jacket, boy band, 90s and all. I want that jacket ❤ love.. it...
Hey Justing, thanks for sharing the Brazilian Beatles boys!
Reminded me a bit more of The Everly Brothers vs Beatles… (and it’s two)!!😊
I didn't realise I'd need my sunglasses while watching Justin Hawkins. Such a bright top! 😎
I hear about six Beatles lines in there. Its brilliant
You do glow! That would be the camouflage for the as of yet not existing Antarctic Army.
Justin, thanks for holding my hand in Phoenix! That picture was so funny.
Justin, please, make a video about CPM22 and Strike, brazilian bands too. Thanks, great video.
🎶 Listen 👏👏 do you wanna know a secret? 👏👏 do you promise not to tell? 👏👏ohhhhhh 👏👏🎶
I’m always in for some hand claps. And whoah ohs & yeah eahs.
Love it. Not enough bands doing unashamedly 60s style pop now. Which reminds me, I must listen to Hal. “Play the Hits” is a
masterpiece.
The lemon twigs 😮
@@philipmorris57 The Lemon Twigs sound more 70s to me. Not all of their stuff but the majority has a more 70s sound to my ears.
Half Million subs coming up soon 🎉🥳🎈👯♀️
Fats Domino *invented* your clap sequence in 1959 and turned it into "I'm Ready"!
That clap sequence sounds so specifically out of that era of Rock 'n' Roll
Muito bom (I can use Google Translate too). Músicas felizes.
Justin please do a collaboration with them. Your high notes would be the icing on the cake to their harmonies ❤.
Oi 'ere Justin, you should watch That Thing You Do for a little bit of hand clappin', Beatleseque fun. Tom Hanks is in it, so you know it's good.
Very reminiscent of the Lemon Twigs, great 60s pop sound.
I’ve been following them for A couple months now n there harmonies are killer.. I love them
In another universe, the Beatles form ( in Brazil of course) , two drop out then the remaining members write a song inspired after watching an imported boxset of the English soap opera Crossroads.
And everybody lived happily ever after 👍
Flame of Love. Hahahaha!!! É hipnotizante essa parada. "Ela me chama de amor, chama de amor, chama de amor"
'Strait jacket' 😆
I love your wit Mr H
Yeah, they sound good. Catchy and retro 🙂
This is very similar to the music video for Night Changes by One Direction! Hahah the whole POV date thing.
They just released the english version.
Love your white jacket Justin...you are so cool...like the guys, sound good..
Ouchy! That capo really gotcha. I had to watch it a few times. I'm glad it wasn't a direct hit to your open eye!
WE need a Justin Hawkins Rides Again tshirt of you riding a white lion ripping a gtr solo! Thatd sell like hot cakes! Gahhh i want 1........ now!!!!
Have you seen Scary Pockets funk version of “I believe in a thing called love”
I confess, I have also stolen your thing...much to the despair of my friends and family.
Intriguing 🙂
Yeah, that clap is weirdly addictive 😅
@@NinStardust it cheers me up...and annoys everyone else 😂
@@ZuzuTheLemon and annoying everyone else also cheers me up! 😅😂😂😂
@@NinStardust 🤣
Like The “One-ders” Lol. Doing that thing you dooooo. Very 60s pop.
Justin Fucking Hawkins Rides Againnnnnnn!!!! 🎸🎶🎶🎶🕺🏽
Chama de amor sounds like do you want to know a secret by the Beatles
Al9 is an surprise ! Lovely!
got be honest…. brazilian accent is always pretty groove… but those guys are AWESOME.
I love this band
omg i thought the exact same thing, i don't think they realized how much they sound like The Rutles, hahahaha. so nice to see my beautiful country being recognized. cheers
Definitely has a 60s vibe. Like it even though i can’t understand a word obviously
English version is "she calls me love" is beautiful
Brasil marcando presença 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤
How much wop could a doo-wop wop if a doo-wop wopped my hairdo?
Brilliant vocal harmonies and chord tension, reminds me in equal parts of Del Shannon, old school Beatles, and the Japanese band the Pillows.
the guy in the music video isn't the only one with a black eye. i had to watch that capo attack again in super slow motion
Woof!
In 3:00 you can clearly see this as different but pratically the same version of the intro of the song "Bad to me" by the Beatles. I definetly wouldn't call It a rip off because they have done a beautiful work out of an unreleased Beatles song.
🇧🇷🔥 so nice to see this😌
Vim aqui pelo Instagram dos caras . Cadê os brasileiros???
Congratulations :
AL9 Band !!
Loved them.
Justin, my comment has dissapeared againnnn 😂 i suppose because i added a link and maybe it was protected by copyright... or something like this!
But it was only to you could see how to clap by bulerias, because you are ready to do it! 👏 Or by Sevillanas ...
475,000🎉🎉🎉
You make me laugh. So funny. Have you heard a peacock call in the AM? It's hysterical sounding.
They made an English version, you should listen to it!!
👏👏...👏!!!
🎶O menino mais lindo do Ytb!!!🎶 🫶😘
👏👏...👏!!!
08:33 🎶has been attacked by a capooo (by a capooo)🎶
👏👏...👏!!!🤣🤣🤣
Such a catchy tune! Nice!👍
Thank you brazil
Thanks!
Cheers Robert!
@@JustinHawkinsRidesAgain thanks again! Made mine and my daughters day!
Agree that this sounds very Rutles-esq.
The Rutles was very clever and well observed. Although the Beatles were the most famous example, there were many bands of that type around at the time. All inspired by that jangly guitar/skiffle sound.
Mr Tambourine Man is another example of that jangly guitar sound, when The Byrds covered it. The original Bob Dylan was less jangly and more…erm…Bob Dylan.
Even Johnny Marr used a Telecaster to make that jangly guitar sound on lots of their hits. Most people think of This Charming Man as the obvious example, but JM used it a lot; Ask immediately comes to mind as an example.
20 years apart, that skiffle sound was still bouncing across the Atlantic and being used on hits.
Back to the Rutles, at first look, I think it looks silly. Eric Idle did make it very Pythonesque, if you watch it again, scratch the surface it was very well written, as keenly observed as Spinal Tap, without the big budget and without being flashy.
Anyway, that’s my essay on The guitar sound of The Rutles 😂.
Speaking of parody bands, one of the best was The Dukes of Stratosphere, the guys from XTC
The English version is awesome! They call "She calls me love"
Are you sure they are from Brazil and not the AL9 postcode, which is Chalfont Saint Peter?
That jacket looks like Alice cooper meets duran duran....😄👍👏❤
If you go a bit puffier with your hair like the Brazilian guys did, it might 'catch' the thing that flew off your guitar and prevent it from damaging your eye 😂 I'd not heard of these two before, they're kind of fun!
These guys showed up on my instagram and I thought they rocked.
This is real good.
Ouch! Look after those eyeballs 🤗
In the eyeball 🎶

YEAH ! YEAH ! YEAH ! YEAH !
Yeah, if I were not married, dating, I'd certainly fill in my profile w/a vid of a potential date, that's brilliant!
Do I have to spell it out? C-H-E-E-S-E-A-N-D-O-N-I-O-N-S, Oh no!
The passion beast will bite you is what they saing, its a pun in portuguese with the Boogeyman. The "Bicho Papão" (eater beast) and the "Bicho Paixão" (passion beast)
Very Rutles like and some Peter and Gordon with a touch of Beatles.
You need to be in a strait jacket Justin 😂😂😂
Hey Justin, got the Permission To Land CD box set today, and the sound is more compressed than the original. Why was it not remastered? Dynamic Range is 5 & the original CD was 6. Should be DR9 at least.
Justin why there are no tickets for Norwich concert avaliable anymore☹️? After seeing Kiss, Holywood Vampires and Europe next week with my son (12), the Darkness was meant to be our perfect rock closure of this year. How can we show young generations the proper music if there are not enough tickets 😩??
Sold out in a day!
Wow🤩what about more shows or a bigger venue next time 🙏🙏🙏
Did You hear and see Scary Pockets' version of "I Believe In Thing Called Love"?
3:50 Sounds more like the Brazilian Beach Boys, but I can hear a bit of the Brazilian Beatles there, too.
It’s not my cup of tea, but it’s not terrible.
Why did your guitar attack your face? Did you just wake up?
Brazilian Beach Boys does make more sense. An overall return to that part of the 60's, and good for them if you're in to that.
It’s more Beatles to my ears. The grinding rhythm guitars with the trebly upstrokes and chiming appregiated bits with the strong backbeat and short guitar solo. And the Lennon-esque raspy vocal. Perfect pastiche of the Beatles.
Arrow of Time
YEAH! BRAZIL!!!
Who's getting the black eye here 😀
Chama can be flame, and can be Call. In that music the meaning is Call.
yay, go Brazil!
The fab... Few?
I actually do remember The Ruttles!!
Do Dirt Miller, go on, Kansas City, Water in my Wine, whatevs... Ren recommended Kansas City 👌
Hi Justin
