    Love MacArthur. It was through his preaching that I was saved. One point of contention. He says we live in a culture inundated with self love. He’s not incorrect, just not fully correct. We love ourselves superficially while knowing, deep down that we are all frauds. That’s basically a twitter flame war in action.

      What are you saying here? On one hand, you say MacArthur's not INcorrect, just not fully correct. THAT - in and of itself is... ridiculous. Either he's correct or he Isn't! And what is meant by "We love ourselves superficially while knowing deep down that we are all frauds." Wouldn't THAT be redundant? Superficial = Fraud! I think you might wanna re-think your commentary here. Cause you ain't makin No sense!

    Think of this: Gods portfolio of design includes an Angler fish. Look that up and you’ll see a creature that aesthetically looks like an aquatic demon. But this strange animal would be a perfect visual analogy for a VBS ‘This Little Light of Mine’ or ‘Shine Your Light in Darkness.’ Christian’s get too hung up on look and feel, even when God created it.

    Sinclair is wrong about Psalms but exactly right about Isaiah.
    But I can completely understand the concerns in churches of the statues etc. Its too easily turned into idolatry, but at the same time we cannot make a new law about art in churches, we definitely need to be extremely careful about worship and why things are used, to make sure its not personal preference, but the glory of God.

    "Self-suicide" certainly was a statement to jar the audience/viewer, and I understand why this was used. But a caveat is that we can be in err in focusing on the self, albeit suicide. Jesus told us to die to ourselves by following HIM.... thus the thought is to follow HIM, the consequence of which should then put to death the self in me. I don't do that. I don't put myself to death. It's the focus and following of Christ that should then inevitably diminish the "me" in me to the point of nothingness of the self. So it's a matter of where or on Whom the focus is. Fix my eye on Jesus, Who will then perfect my faith, which He had authored.

    • @joeturk
      @joeturk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great point, Alec. I never thought of it that way, but I probably will now that you explained that viewpoint so well. That reminds me of something MacArthur said re fighting sin: If you’re going through a temptation (e.g., a lustful thought comes to mind), then your focus shouldn’t be on your white-knuckling effort against the specific thought, but rather, it should be submitted/focused on Christ and His truths. If you put a treat (the temptation) in front of a well-trained dog (us) and have him wait for the signal to eat, more often than not that dog will be intently focused on the trainer (Jesus) before the signal, so as to resist the urge to eat it by looking to the one with power.

    God does not leave the SALVATION of anyone in the hands any preacher.
    Everyone is born at birth in rightstanding with God. The meaning of the word salvation in the bible is to know in ones heart that one is ok with God while one is alive on the earth. In Roms 4-1-11 God imputed righteousness to those who believed before the cross; to the circumcised and uncircumcised who believed. They recieved the same high standard of righteousness as believers in Christ after the cross.
    Modern day fundalmenlists cannot accept this truth. God DOES NOT HAVE 2 standards of righteousness; one for before the cross and one for after the cross.
    The righteousness remained the same; it was the system that changed.

      @Dan There are no SCRIPTURES in the bible that states that we are born in sin.
      The church in ad325 established that false doctrine.. and then they charged for infant baptism; and these finances helped to build the Vatican.
      Eze 18-18-20 says; God does not hold the sins of the father's accountable to the children.
      The church has messed up really bad with the doctrine of original sin..
      And so many other doctrines were invented to accommodate this false doctrine

    • @johnmchugh8235
      @johnmchugh8235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dan Greetings to you.
      1 Cor 4-6 Paul says not to think beyond what is written.
      * Paul says this in reference to teaching the scriptures
      * No one can produce any scriptures that state we are all born in sin.
      * All the churches use Psa 51-5 to claim that we are all born in sin.
      * Psa 51-5 I was conceived in sin. The writer of this Psalm said he was CONCEIVED IN SIN
      * This means either his mother or his father were involved in some ungodly act when he was CONCEIVED.
      ****
      Roms 3-23 ALL have SINNED and fallen short of the GLORY OF GOD.
      a) The word SINNED is in the past tense when Paul penned this scripture.
      b) In V19 Paul is referring to the Jews under the Law.
      c) So the word ALL in V23 is referring to the Jews under the law in V19
      d) In Roms 3-25 Paul said that propitiation was for previously committed sins.
      e) In 1 John 5-16 it says there are 2 different types of sin.
      * One sin that does not lead to death; these are one's habitual sins.
      * And one sin that leads to death; this was the sin of the Jewish old covenant who were following the gods of Rome.
      f) The sin in Roms 3-23 was a particular kind of sin; and that sin was fallen short of the GLORY OF GOD.
      h) The glory of God means the will of God; which means that some old covenant Jewish people did not follow God in Christ; but stayed under the law following false gods.
      i) Here is a list of scriptures where the sin of following false gods are mentioned.
      John 1-29; John 20-23; Roms 3-23-25; Roms 5-12 ;V19; Roms 6-23; 1 John 2-2; 1 John 3-9 and 1 John 5-16.
      j) In John 1-29 John the Baptist said;
      "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the SIN of the WORLD."
      k) The word WORLD is the Greek word Oikoumene;
      Oikoumene is only used in the new testament for the local land of Judea in the time period between the cross an AD70.
      l) This sin was taken away with the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem in AD70.
      ******
      * There are 8 different words in the new testament for our one English word WORLD; and none of them are referring to the planet EARTH.
      * If you want to brand yourself with the sin of the Jewish people who followed false gods; then enjoy.
      * I am not 2000yrs old to have committed these sins.
      ****
      When the bible says Jesus died for OUR SINS; this scripture is incorrectly translated.
      * The trinitarians changed the word BECAUSE to read FOR.
      * It should read Jesus died BECAUSE of OUR sins; and the word OUR was referring to the Jews who were following the gods of Rome at that time.
      * Everyone is born in Christ at BIRTH; and the church uses the phrase BORN AGAIN out of context.
      * Born again was a term used for the Pharisees to qualify to be a ruler of the Jews; they had to be born again 8 or 9 times; which meant graduating from one level to the next level to be a ruler of the Jews.

      @Dan
      Greetings.
      The Greek word KOSMOS is used in the bible in John 3-16-17; and is used over 210 times in the new testament.
      * KOSMOS is ONLY used in the bible for the covenant nation of Israel.
      * Oikoumene is used in Matt 24-14; Luke 2-1; 4-5; Acts 11-28; 17-6; 17-31; 19-27; 24-4; Roms 10-18; Heb 1-6; 2-5; Rev 3-10; 12-9 and Rev 16-14.
      * All these SCRIPTURES are directly referring to the local land of Judea in the time frame between the cross and AD70.
      * The meaning of these words place the battle of Armageddon in the past.
      * To my surprise found a link on the website that also used the word Oikoumene in John 1-29;..
      * I had also checked with a Greek scholar who said it is Oikoumene in John 1-29.
      * Regardless of whether John 1-29 says KOSMOS or OIKOUMENE it is still referring to the Jewish old covenant people.
      * As the bible is a covenant book with the Jewish people; and according to Jesus in Matt 15-24 where He said; "I was not sent *EXCEPT TO* the lost sheep of the house of Israel;" and in Matt 20-28 and Mark 10-45 Jesus said He gave his life a RANSOM FOR MANY.
      * It's absolutely clear that the MANY Jesus gave His life a RANSOM for where the LOST SHEEP of the house of Israel.
      * According to the pattern in the scriptures and the words of Jesus Himself Jesus did not die for anyone who is alive in today's SOCIETY.
      * The problem arises with the doctrine of original sin; which cannot be found anywhere in the bible.
      ***
      The word EARTH is used over 1100 in the bible; it is always used for the nation of Israel; except in some scriptures were it refers to land; soil of meadow in the nation of Israel..
      * The word EARTH is never used in the bible for the PLANET EARTH.
      * The beginning in Gen 1-1 and John 1-1 is the beginning of the Abrahamic covenant nation of Israel.
      * The word SEASONS in Gen 1-14 means the beginning of the religious feasts of the Lord; and the first religious feast was the feast of the Passover when the Jews were leaving Egypt; which means Day 4 was Moses bringing the covenant people out of Egypt.
      * The word CREATURES means human souls on Day 5 in Gen 1-20.
      * The Us and the Our in Gen 1-26 is God and His covenant people bringing forth the Man Christ Jesus out of the old covenant;
      * Amos 3-7 Surely the Lord does nothing unless He reveals it to His prophets first.
      * Gen 1-26 is not God and Jesus making the first man Adam.. it is the FIRST ADAM; which is the convent of Israel with God making the THE MAN CHRIST JESUS.
      * Of course this truth cannot be accepted by the churches in today's society because it totally DESTROYS THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY.

      @johnmchugh8235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dan
      To my knowledge there is not one word in the bible that mentions the plant PLANET EARTH...
      The bible has a pattern to it..
      Both the old and new covenants were made with the house of Israel and the house of Judah; so all the scriptures are written in that context; therefore the scriptures must be understood in that context.
      The PLANET VENUS is mentioned in the bible.
      The planet Venus was called the *morning star* in antiquity and in the bible.
      Lucifer is the Latin name for the PLANET VENUS; and only appeared for the first time in the bible when Jerome translated the books of the bible into Vulgate Latin in AD406.
      Jerome started the project in AD382 or AD382; I can't remember if he had someone assisting him.
      If the bible had not been translated into Latin we would never have heard of an angel called Lucifer.
      Only the English language bibles that's translated from Latin use the word LUCIFER.. Lucifer was never an angel.
      Jesus called Himself the Bright and Morning Star.
      In antiquity the SUN ☀️ was called the bright and morning star.
      The planet Venus/the morning star has no light of its own; it reflects the light of the Sun; and the morning star is used as imagery for having revelation from God in that particular situation.
      Isa 14-12 the morning star is used for the king of Babylon to know God's will in dealing with the Jewish old covenant people in Babylon.
      Lucifer/the morning star is used in Rev 2-27-28; it's also used in 2 Pet 1-19.
      In the ancient world the planet Venus was also called the DAY STAR.
      The reason for this was; when the planet Venus has completed one orbit of the SUN the earth only orbits .625 of the distance..
      Venus is 26 million miles away from the earth; but every 4yrs it's on the opposite side of the Sun 🌞 and is 149 million miles away from the earth; it's not so bright and it's called the day; Hence the phrase you have fallen from heaven.
      *
      You may never have heard this before.. and may be of no value to you.
      My teacher said that I'm not a genius.. I'm just lucky at thinking.
      😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

      @Dan
      It was a long time ago.. so I don't remember the link.
      With the use of the word Kosmos in John 1-29 it is still referring to the Jewish people.
      * To understand the first 11 chapters in the book of Genesis the phrases used in scriptures match exactly with the writings of the Mesopotamia account of creation.
      These writings are a picture pattern of each other.
      It's impossible to understand the first 11 chapters in Genesis if one does not understand the Mesopotamian scripts; because they were written long before Genesis were written.
      The book of Revelation is written in symbol writings from Rev 4-1 to the end of Ch 22.
      There are only 3 scriptures in the book of Revelation that are not in symbolic language... these 3 scriptures consist of approximately 75 words.
      There are thousands of symbolic phrases in the book of Revelation; and these symbol phrases are explained in a literal context; either in the book of Revelation or elsewhere where in the bible.
      There are only 2 symbolic phrases in the book of Revelation that are not mentioned or explained elsewhere in the bible.
      Here are 16 words mentioned in the bible that have different meanings than the meanings the church uses in today's society.
      World. Earth. Heaven. Hell. Devil. Satan. Lucifer. Saved. Salvation. Grace. Darkness. Born Again. Perish.
      Garden of Eden. Predestination. Last days.
      * There are hundreds of other words with different meanings; but these 16 are the main words on which are now the foundational doctrines are built on.
      So when you get these wrong.
      You are welcome to contact me on messenger.

      Not at all. Little children always want some type of visuals for their learning and understanding especially since they can’t read.
      My concern is for the adult belivers . They should not look at images to know God . They have the Bible in their hands and indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the wonderful gift of faith.
      1 Corinthians 13
      10. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
      11. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
      12. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

    The language of the bible and the meaning of the words are completely different than the meanings imposed on them in todays churchs.
    The old covenant was called the old heaven, and the new covenant was called the new heaven.
    The old covenant Jewish people had salvation in the Abrahamic covenant. Heb 13-8 says the old covenant is ready to pass away, and this finally took place in AD70.
    No other name under *heaven* by which man can be saved. This word *heaven* is referring to the old heaven/ old covenant.
    To be saved is to have the knowledge that you are in rightstanding with God. Its suprising that these top theologians do not know this.

    God does not leave ones salvation, or to be saved in the hands of John MacArthur or any other preacher.
    Human beings were never lost unto God; Everyone was born at birth in rightstanding with God.
    The word SALVATION in the bible means to know in ones mind that one is ok with God while alive on the earth.
    Roms 4-1-11 people were made righteous because they believed even before the cross.
    The righteousness that God imputed before the cross is the same high standard as the righteousness after the cross, it was the system that changed. God does not have two standards of righteousness. The uncircumcised in Roms 4-1-11 received the same high standard of righteousness as the righteousness christins receive in Christ.

    This guy Wilson believes we have a great, non threatening nation and does he not recall our warmongering in Iraq, Lybia, Vietnam...millions and millions we murdered while we speak of peace. I hope that Sproul and the others see our fascist awful empire for what it is. What is wrong with 95% of Americans who are deaf and blind to what happens right in front of us?

      MAGA is the embodiment of idol worship. Calling evil good and good evil. 80% of white Christian Evangelicals voted for an evil administration. Discouraging and frightening. We are in the End Times and we must focus on the Sovereignty of God and our Salvation through Jesus Christ Our Redeemer. See you on the other side, Wally.

      Obviously some people took their support of Trump to extremes, but you can’t seriously think that the man who didn’t start a single war and who sought to cut funding to Planned Parenthood is somehow worse than the man who supports genital mutilation for children and the murder of the unborn.

    This Wilson sounds as if he adores fascist America, loves and roots for U.S. philosophy of loving war and taking over the world. I supported Ligonier (R C Sproul really since 1971) but it appears he let's almost anyone in and nobody stands against this Wilson who speaks of us instigating & winning wars as "exhilirating?"
    The U.S. became fully fascist esp. with T. Roosevelt, who loved massacres in the Philippines, etc...and fascism exploded after our Intel and other govt officials took out JFK, RFK & MLK, the last 3 great peacemakers. Our nation is the number one warmonger ignited big time with Vietnam and never stopping...I pray Wilson, a great Deep State adherent is fooled and God takes the big bully of constant war down very soon.
    This is NOT a fully Reformed group anymore...MacArthur and Ravi Zacharias excited about spending plenty or too much time with the Mormons and praise themselves for it. I will stick with asscociation with some more sound things, like ML-Jones, C H Spurgeon, the Puritans and the the J C Ryle "types.

      Wally; it seems to me that Wilson was arguing the exact opposite of what you charge. He was warning Christians to be wary of a human tendency toward exhilaration of military victory. He was explaining various realities such as God's providential ability to use even wars to set up situations that advance His kingdom goals but cautioning believers against lobbying for such.
