As a person from a single parent home and absent father. I totally understand why Oliver did what he did- it may not have been the best or mature approach but it was certainly an emotional one. Furthermore, children have no control in keeping a parent in their lives. Most people don’t understand the adversarial family court system. It’s true we have no idea what happened initially, so there is no point in judging Bill in this situation. My ex tried alienating me in the beginning by using the courts to try and cancel me. But instead of giving up like a lot of people told me too, I kept at it and took my visitation days and paid the alienator her weekly check while paying lawyers to help my son keep us dad in his life. My son and I are happy. I don’t think mom ever will be because she didn’t get what she wanted. I feel I aged twenty years overnight with the stress I contended with. Sometimes people need to step away just for their own health. Bill sounds like he’s still struggling.

The best you could say about him here is that he's really a great guy who had a chance to answer the question the way a great guy would, but instead chose to say, or was too weak to stop himself from saying, that his own children were "dead to him." A great guy would say, "the situation is very sad" and even something like "I surely bear some of the blame" or "if I could do it all over, I would." But instead he said, "they're dead to me."
At some point you just have to let anger go, even when the anger is justifiable, and stop making a bad situation worse.

As a person from a single parent home and absent father. I totally understand why Oliver did what he did- it may not have been the best or mature approach but it was certainly an emotional one. Furthermore, children have no control in keeping a parent in their lives. Nor is it their responsibility, the parent is the adult and should fight to stay in their child's life no matter how their ex-partner tries to stop it. Most people don’t understand the adversarial family court system. It’s true we have no idea what happened initially, so there is no point in judging Bill in this situation.
My ex tried alienating me in the beginning by using the courts to try and cancel me. But instead of giving up like a lot of people told me too, I kept at it and took my visitation days and paid the alienator her weekly check while paying lawyers to help my son keep us dad in his life.

So when/where did he say "dead to me" ... he said it's like a "death to me"... He says they should change their name to Russell if that's how they feel - all they do when they mention him is speak about abandonment - so enough already...
Me knowing Bill personally, he wouldn't have gotten to that point, without a good reason. Bill's a really nice guy. There are 2 sides to every story. Their Grandmother was suffering from Alzheimers and he was trying to get them to go visit their grandmother before she had passed away. It's not on Bill, he's tried. It's on them; not him.
Bill, The next time Kate contacts you tell her this: You have really hurt me and that badly. If you and your children come into my life we will go on like this hurt never even happened. Spend at least one whole day with me every 2 months...you and your family doing something fun together. Bill I am in the same situation with my children (only worse). You can't imagine the horrors on my situation on 2 horrible accounts make that 3. As a Christian I have to forgive. Bill give Kate a chance. Bill I told my daughter I hated her....but if you heard the whole thing you could understand that. Now I can see she is very sick with Narcissistic Personality Disorder and probably a socialpath. She just can't see things right. I am not allowed as a Christian to hate her. She has turned my entire family against me. Hurt upon hurt others things not mentioned here even more hurt.
