Want to hand sew like a sewing machine? This seam looks like a French seam but is EASIER and FASTER for hand stitching. It is called a mantua makers seam! This mantua makers seam is named after 18th and 19th century dressmakers who used this stitch for unlined seams. How to use it today? Any unlined seam stitched in light to medium weight fabric Great hand sewing practice for historical hand sewing and better modern hand sewing technique! Practice along with me to remember what your hands can do!

@@statemoneyclaim8051 wonderful! Enjoy! ❤️
your videos are the reason I understand sewing!! please please please post more if its within your schedule/energy allowance because nobody else on this platform explains things as thoroughly as you do. Thank you for sharing this knowledge!!
Fascinating, thanks so much. So important that these skills are recorded and shared so we don’t lose them.
I have been hand sewing for over 50 years. I sew up to 8 hours a day every day. You are by far the BEST sewing instructor I’ve ever encountered. Your tutorial addresses every aspect of excellent sewing practices in a clear and detailed manner. Very very impressed. Thank you! ❤
@@bludeetu321 thank you so much! What a wonderful compliment!! ❤️✨
the amount of info you include when you teach is awesome! i came here to learn about the seam and also got info about basting and how to hold a needle and so much more! love your videos!
I’m so glad they are helpful! Thanks for the great feedback! ❤️
Glad you are back! Your tutorials are the best I've found.
@@alexr7298 thank you!! ☺️
Been really enjoying all the content you’ve created for sewing! An unusual use for your hand sewing techniques but I’ve been trying to make insect net bags. Couldn’t afford a machine at the moment but I could snag a $10 kit to get me started by hand :) thanks for the hard work
@@Landonhawk thank you! I’m so glad you’re using the techniques to make what you need/want to make! I love to know what people are stitching up!
What beautiful work! I find this so therapeutic to watch. Thank you ❤
@@Goldilocks111 thank you! ☺️
Just saw this on your Insta, love it. I do love my sewing machine but nothing in this world is as good as sitting and hand sewing, it’s completely therapeutic for me. I’ll enjoy having a look through your videos 😊🪡🧵
@@moggtina that’s awesome! Take a look around there are a bunch of tutorials both left and right handed. Happy stitching! 💕
As always, informative and super clear instructions! Immediately saved to my lists of learning (where just about all of your videos go). If I already know the technique, I save it anyway to have handy when someone asks me to show them how to do it, and let you teach them instead!
@@bigbucketlist thank you so much!! It’s so rewarding to know how helpful these videos are to you and others!!
6:23 after basting
Where do you purchase the linin fabrc you demo on? Its quite beautiful!
Out of curiosity, what is your preferred needle size for 50/3 linen thread?
Why can’t you just Bach stitch after basting ?
