      Ben H yup, if pharmaceutical companies can’t make their money off of it they will do everything in their power to make sure it isn’t used or promoted as a cure or to relieve and medical problem. If they had control over all the sales then it would be used for everything.

      lmao this dude is full of shit. im an organic chemist. if they knew what they where talking about they would tell you about how terpenes convert to benzene and other similar highly toxic molecules when smoked. but who reads real lab reports anymore? no one, u fucking people just believe what u like to hear. look up the lab report from Portland university on the dangers of terpenes. its basic organic chemistry, and i already know these fuckers know none of that, they will just tell u what they need to so u buy shit. if u are smart u would buy terpene free pens. READ FUCKING UNIVERSITY LAB REPORTS IF U WANT TO LEARN ABOUT SCIENCE

      sure terpenes in small amounts wont harm u, even your morning coffee toast and butter has cancerous byproducts from cooking. but if u read this study in portland u will see the exact numbers of how much more concentrated terpenes can be very harmful over time

    • @ignisfatuus
      @ignisfatuus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beefcakefpv7913 That's my point. There's an obvious disconnect with the consumer -- and I find that troubling with a psychoactive substance that's trying to gain legitimacy and respect in the marketplace. I find the lag on consumer education, nay, the lag on education and training on the sales side about as troubling as if I went into the pharmacy with a question and they told me it's none of their concern. From what I've experienced, the interest is in pushing product rather than responsible advocation.

    • @ignisfatuus
      @ignisfatuus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beefcakefpv7913 And to clarify, my original comment was in response to where he spoke about guiding consumers to appropriate strains. Maybe some of these new sleek dispensaries I now see have worked this angle better -- if that's the case, I hope they put the awful places I've been to out of business. I started smoking a couple years ago and was repeatedly disappointed by cannabis service staff -- that's my beef. I figured enough out through blind fumbling and now grow my own -- but not everyone has that luxury.

    Thank you Dr. Jake Felice! This is exactly what I needed. I have seen a few small hand out cards that briefly describe an attribute of each terpene but your explanation gave me so many ideas to try. I am a medical patient who is desperately trying to manage more symptoms with this. I love the ideas of using a room atomizer while smoking or a tea afterward. Kudos, Dr Jake Felice and Friends for having a passion and sharing it with others to influence beautiful change! I'm a Dispenser at Medical location in Massachusetts. I love Terpenes and believe in them! Along with cannabis and hemp! At the dispensary every patient I have the pleasure to interact with I ask them if they know about terpenes and share some info about it. I refer them to your video here to get them started with there new awareness! It's great for them because the dispensary can be very busy and very stimulating some times. It gives them the chance to invest more into their new found awareness. I look forward to learning even more!

    Terpenes have their own individual pharmacologic effects which have applications for both medicine and recreation. Terpenes can do other things besides just simply acting as stand alone molecules. For example they can aid in the absorption of other medical components in cannabis products. These synergistic aspects of botanical formulations and terpenes are fascinating in terms of their medical and recreational potentials.

      Make sure u have inoculated the plant with microbes (urb) , beneficial bacteria (great white or plant success soluble (i dump a can in my big ass tote of soil at transplant this contains trycoderma that makes the food web or colony thrive like the amino acid for the microbes to thrive early you want healthy microbes repopulating and that creates the food web.. this will help your plant adequately break down their food ) and enzymes (slf-100) (enzymes main function is to condition the roots mixed in water once a week it helps clean everything for the food web to form the Mycorrhizial relationship its symbiotic with the microbe colony whom eat all the extra starches or sugars out the roots known as exudates im sure i probably spelled that wrong..the exudates tell the microbes exactly what nutrients the plant needs to eat and the job of microbes in soil is to seek out food for the plant to thrive with nature..and then the microbes bring it back..) also use amino acids (one hit quit you only give it to it one-time when it's a baby with baby roots.. once u have ur mycorrhizial fungi colony thriving at your roots.. you will be able to notice your plant eating better with especially dry amendment powder style organics (i use aurora roots organics line of powders and green gro line and i use one of the r.o its called elemental with all of the Greegro lineupe ) these products are called inoculants, Bennie's, mycos, microbes, and biologicals plus more. Just please don't ever give your plant food grade molasses its not good for it blackstrap is ok but u don't need It the reason you give it that is to try to get microbes to the dirt.. what I'm telling you to do is the correct way to completely up your all organic craft cannabis grow game..not tell you to go through your cupboards and feeding your shit some old school hillbilly ass shit.

    Long before I ever heard of terpenes as such, I was convinced of the synergy that happens with certain strains. Weed that smelled strongly like pine and/or lemon consistently seemed the best for me whether my friends thought it was great or not, and some strains that others raved about didn't work any better than brick weed for me. Right now most of the marketing is centered entirely around "chasing numbers" but the stuff with the (supposedly) highest THC content isn't always the best for some people.

      @Sam Armstrong yeah I think it depends a lot on the individual in many cases. Never believe the hype. You just have to try some different stuff and see what woks for YOU. There's WAY too many people out there calling themselves "experts" who will claim only this or that is any good, or they "know" one is right for you within 2 minutes of meeting you "because it's sativa" lol... and you'll notice those "experts" and budtenders are usually real young ;) And sometimes they're just trying to get rid of whatever they have too much of, like any other salesman.

    Honest opinion: I got a lemon bean (cannabis) strain smoked it love how it smells but it makes me puke. Afterward I realized believe it just is after a big toke and its just so strong. it keeps happening after the first to second hit in the beginning of smoking after getting really heavy breakfast. i guess lemons can be a super powerful stomach type of strain... Maybe? I love all weed! Only thing is I love indica and this one is a sativa category.

    Do terpenes have any relation to nicotine in activity?

    • @JakeFelice
      @JakeFelice 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To a degree yes. The terpene limone can increase the effects of tobacco on cannabis primarily due to its anti-cholinesterase activities

      @@JakeFelice wait...is there tobacco in cannabis??? Also does vaping thc have the same damaging effect on lungs as smoking a cigarette?

    • @JakeFelice
      @JakeFelice 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Kekoa, typically folks use cannabis without tobacco, though some people will add it. In the US, it's typically with blunts. In europe, folks will mix hashish with cannabis. In terms of lung health, you might find this interesting: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1277837/pdf/1477-7517-2-21.pdf

      @@JakeFelice thank you Dr. Felice, but what about vaping? Is vaping cannabis or thc carcinogenic if there is no tobacco present?

    • @JakeFelice
      @JakeFelice 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The most recent studies show that smoked cannabis is far less of a carcinogen than tobacco smoke. We still need more studies. One hypothesis is that there are cancer protective properties of cannabis that are not present in tobacco smoke. But folks should also be cautious when vaping. The heating coils in vaporizers, as currently made, seem to be leaking toxic metals - which then get into the aerosols that vapers inhale into their lungs. There is no safe level of lead, and this is could be a large public health problem. www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/02/23/vaping-you-could-inhaling-lead-and-arsenic-new-study-says/366321002/

      Try this: eat your edible on an empty stomach and then eat a small fatty meal an hour later. If that doesn't work then you either ate a badly made edible or you smoke too much to be able to feel edibles. Or maybe they just really dont work for you

      Skipper Sailor the plant is more effective therapeutically because of the entourage effect. How nature built the plant. Combination of terpenes and cannabinoids together naturally.
