@@heathcliff8624 you missed the whole point of this performance!! Don't care bout Montreal, i watched the whole concert and it ended the movie!! Back then....it was amazing, Freddy made the crowd sing!! Greatest 20 + minutes!!
One of the best examples how Freddie Mercury was able to involve the crowd in the show and completely control them. There will never be another like him.
Just another little thing to note - this was NOT a crowd of Queen fans, it was a mixed crowd for a concert that went on all day (and well into the night) and many bands and singers performed. The performers all played to a mixed audience (fans of different genres) - Freddie still had them in the palm of his hand.
You need to watch their entire Live Aid set. It's over 20 minutes long, but it's considered by MANY people to be the greatest live performance in rock history! This crowd was NOT in the stadium to see Queen. This was a day long concert that took place both in London and Philadelphia with over 60 rock acts. Queen was added to the lineup after most of the concertgoers had already bought their tickets. But despite this, Freddie Mercury OWNED the stage that day and had everybody eating it up!! I was at the Philadelphia show and we got to see it all on the big screen in the stadium.
I am intrigued. How was the crowd interactions in Philadelphia during their set ? We all know about Wembley, but youre the first person I've ever seen who was at Philly.
it's worthwhile to look up the set list, and check out each of the songs, with or without reacting here. I've seen some reactors v. distracted by the new tunes when they watch the Live Aid set.

@@celt67 Sorry I'm so late getting back to you as I just realized today I'd gotten responses to this. From what I can remember, when Queen first started, the crowd in Philly kinda went silent. I don't think a lot of people even knew Queen was gonna perform. But within a short time, everyone was acting just like the crowd in London, singing along and cheering loudly. This set was in the early afternoon in Philly and we all knew that we still had a long night ahead of us. My friends that I was with at the show were all hoping that something, ANYTHING, would happen at our show that would somehow top this...but nothing really did. Even the Led Zeppelin reunion in Philly was somewhat disappointing. We kept hearing rumors that Springsteen & The E Street Band were gonna make a surprise appearance (supposedly the lighting system on the stage was Springsteen's...at least that was the rumor going around in the crowd), but of course they never did.
In fact Queen were actually considered as an old washed up group who weren't gonna last much longer until they did this concert and then their popularity sky rocketed around the world. Btw the routine goes clap clap then both hands up 👏👏👐

Freddie can control hundreds of thousands of concert goers, and decades after his passing, he can also get a youtuber to clap along with him, great reaction Shiloh!
Great reaction! Call and respond. That became a trademark of the band. Freddie would call and we would respond. This was the band's connection to their audience. This is why they are beloved worldwide because they let the audience feel that they were a part of it all, and Freddie was a diva for sure.
Keep in mind. In the days of Queen. NO auto tune. This is pure 4 guys with amazing talent. Live Aid was played at Wimbledon and also Philly. Broadcasted on TV at the same time. Estimated crowd was about 1.7 BILLION. I was one of them. The best of the best played Live Aid. Queen stole the show.
Although both are wonderful, it's worth checking out the official video, because it gets to the heart of the song and the love of radio. Another great example of how WWII influenced British rock from the Beatles to Pink Floyd.
Thankyou, great reaction!! I really hope to see more Queen along the way. Love the younger generation discover Queen. Much bless dear! Keep up the good work
Shiloh you HAVE to react to the rest of this performance at Live Aid it is remarkable they owned the place, Lady GaGa got her name from this song she is a huge Queen fan
What makes this performance even more remarkable is that Queen were seen as past it/over the hill by this time (also, don't mention Sun City). Most of the fans didn't turn up to see Queen so to see 72,000 people clapping in unison was great.
That performance is so unique including the final eh oh so loudly! The audience was quiet and listening they afterwards said it right back at him! That in my opinion is magical and pure class!!
Freddie was a legendary performer. He had a way of just sweeping the audience up and taking them with him. In '85, he took a tired and grumpy crowd and had them eating out of his hand before the first song was done. This wasn't even a Queen crowd. Queen was a last minute addition when another act bowed out. British TV stated that, for 22 minutes, Britain was ruled by an entirely different Queen.
We NEED a full reaction to this performance. This is the single greatest performance ever by any music act and I will stand by that until the day I die. If you haven't seen the full Queen performance from Live Aid I very much recommend it. Even if it isn't a reaction. Just a perfect performance. In fact I'm gonna go watch that real quick xD

See when the crowd are clapping their hands above their heads during the chorus...72,000 pairs of hands clapping in Wembley stadium, London and then another 90,0000 across in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at another stadium as the images from Wembley get beamed across to the USA.👏
I LOVE how you were so into trying to get the clap thing down! That isn't easy when you aren't familiar with the song....great effort! Your reactions are fun to watch....thank you.
Great reaction as always Shiloh! For me, this is the moment that Queen went from being superstars to becoming legends. Radio Ga Ga at Live Aid is, imo, the single greatest moment in pop/rock history. And to think, Freddie had some sort of virus at the time of Live Aid and it was affecting his singing voice. His doctors told him not to perform there. Just imagine if he'd been 100% fit. The mind boggles!
This is just a fantastic reaction! You trying. To get the clapping down was too cute. 😂 Thats the coolest part of this video to me, aaaaall of those people doing the clap thing at once lookin like a wave, literally a sea of humanity, just amazing.
The original music video is a mixture of the band and footage from the classic German movie,”Metropolis”,which, in 1984,was rescored by music producer Gorgio Moroder to attract a younger audience to the the 1927 silent film.
Simply the greatest performance in music history, just blew the rest of the worlds greatest performers away, so you have to watch the whole performance, so good that Lady Gaga named her character after this song, and at the end is the iconic "Note heard around the World" .
In fact, "Radio Ga Ga" is exactly where Lady GaGa got her stage name from. She's long been a fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury, and she was first noticed when she won a karaoke contest by singing "Radio Ga Ga." Because the emcee of the contest forgot her actual name (Stefani Germanotta), he came up with the impromptu nickname "Lady Ga Ga" when he announced her as the winner.
Queen nearly didn't do the concert. They were last minute. They held the crowd all the way through the set. They then did Live at wembly 88. Credited to be one of the reasons queen had a resurgence. Very few people if any can hold a crowd like Freddie.
