Shit hot as usual jacko, your yella videos have got me diving head first into the rabbit hole of chasing yellas with a fly rod. All your videos have been by far the biggest help I’ve found in the rabbit hole! Keep it up!
Went to Callide And got one yella and got smoked twice and lost both vibes. Your tips are spot on. I've never had a result like that before. Keep up the good work.
Great video mate as always. Jealous you live so close to Windemere still have never fished it but one day will get of my arse from Melbourne and come their
Being from the Gold Coast, fishing the local dams such as Burrendong, I have learned a heap in a very short time watching these Vids. Very informative stuff!!!
Great video shaggs, videos like this has helped my sanity in lockdown Melbourne. New boat (Raptor pro) done 3 hours, Bring on October 19. Daiwa should be pleased with my input!
Hi jakko, thanks for a great video. Enjoy watching them & getting lots of tips & tricks to try. Looking fwd to next trip. Keep up the great work. Cheers.
Hi Jakko I’m currently In lockdown on Pattaya , Thailand Very tough to take not lol I really enjoy listening to your expert advice on the latest gear and techniques with lures ! I used to fish Bjuck and Windermere for cod , trout , and yellas and I love to tune into your vidz on you tube and check your honest and expert advice . I really wish we had top advice like you give on your channel . I loved the barra trip up north Hinze dam vid really good . Keep the faith Top advice I hope to be back in the Illawarra when flights resume Ps the pies at Robertson pie shop are the best lol Cheers
I've got the TD Zero in Ultra Light and Light, and couldn't recommend them highly enough. The cover me for Bream. Estuary Perch, and Bass. I haven't tried them on Yellas yet but will have to give them a crack.
Good vid mate. I got one decent day’s fishing at Windy in a few weeks ago. Still a bit cold, I think (my excuse anyway). I did see a few blokes catching fish but got zip myself. Have to really start using the transams the way you’re meant to. I think I’ve been bringing them in too much like I would with a TN60. Cheers mate and good luck over spring.
Before the mass kill when it got emptied, my biggest Yellowbelly was out of lake Keepit in September 2010, 63cm long and 10.5 pounds caught on a jackal tn50
Hi Jacko , good informative vid mate . I buy the assist hooks from eBay as well mate but I test every single one of them buy putting tension on them with a pair of pliers, it tensions up the knot on the hooks and guarantee that they won't fail on a hookup. If I want to put bigger stingers on a lure say an 0/1 or 1/0 I buy BKK hooks and use 80 lb braid and tie my own. The 80lb braid I have is bright yellow but after I tie up the stingers I dip them in some red spike-it lure scent and the braid turns red as well, perfect on Doozers for big yellas and also big surface flatty lures in the shallow water.
Its good you acknowledged my comment regarding the ultra light daiwa zero. The thing is, I sell graphite rods and the number of people who break rods for various reasons is very high. And Daiwa don't replace them. The new TD hypers are excellent value like you say. I don't know if you have an affiliation with Daiwa but you should try a Shimano Zodias on these heavier, higher inertia lures. The blanks these are based on are the most responsive I've ever seen. Have you tried the weeedless Zerek fish trap?
Great video mate. Very informative and packed full of things to try. Only question I have is would the soft vibe and shake technique work on the river?
Thanks mate, I reckon it would definitely work on the river, only thing that would be annoying is the snags if you were fishing from the bank. If that was the case I'd pick up a few cheap soft vibes on ebay to try first to save the back pocket a little, they work just as good for shaking
I must say, very few videos show you guys stuffing up and getting snagged above and below the water "havin a Barry Crocker" but you nailed the above part. Any advise or tools to recover sometimes expensive lures below the water? Cheers cob.
Great video Jakko as usual, any tips for fishing a new lake/dam? Usual spots to try first? Fished the river my whole life so lake fishing is a whole new game.
Hey mate, start by looking for structure (weed, rock, timber) that the fish will be around. If the has good weedbeds then fish the outside of them for sure. Points are always good spots to work. Just got to spend some time on the water and you'll work it out
Gday mate love ur channel very much, I was just wondering what rod and lb line up were using, I’ve only ever caiught 1 yella and hoping to Find more, and what’s the most effective bait? Keep up the great work mate
Jakko I don't have a boat. Can you do a vid or give me some tips for Dam fishing from the bank - PLEASE. I'm in Brisbane Queensland but am doing a 3,000 k road trip across the outback Qld and freshwater run across 4 weeks in November..
Two of my favourite Yellow belly dams are Split Rock Dam and Lake Keepit (well Keepit was before everything died when Keepit got completely emptied in the drought)
We fish a res got yellow belly in it with lots of trees around it ,going to try with the black grubbing trick sound like a plain and same them vide, lures . Would the vide lures work walking along the edges?
Hey mate I've just brought myself the hyper rod in 1.5-3kg running 10lb Daiwa braid , 10lb J thread and a Daiwa Laguna reel in 2500 have you heard much or had much to do with the Laguna's from what I've heard they're pretty well on par with the legalis but would love your input if your happy to share. Heading out to windy this long weekend. Love your vids mate this is the exact sort of thing I've been after I've used mostly hard vibes in the past but starting to transition into the zx40 blades and the transams I'm yet to try the scent but will definitely be adding some into my bag to see how much of a difference it makes
Hey mate, what’s your thoughts on sounders/ finders ? Looking for something under 1k, do you prefer to use Garmin or lowrance ? And is side scan essential do you think ? Cheers mate love the vids !
Hey mate, I personally prefer Garmin gear these days. Check out something like a Garmin echomap 9UHD. Great units for the price. Side scan is almost a must these days IMO
Shit hot as usual jacko, your yella videos have got me diving head first into the rabbit hole of chasing yellas with a fly rod.

HI Jakko,
Many thanks - very informative. Do you have a problem with the assist hooks foul hooking each other on the cast?
Graham
Great info. What size jigheads are you using with the grubs.
Cheers mate, 1/4oz Bassman or berkley dam deep jigheads mate, size 2 hook
Great video Jakko. Is that a Bunnings tackle box??
Cheers man, nah this one is legit versus box. Overpriced, I wouldn't recommend haha
👌🏼
We fish a res got yellow belly in it with lots of trees around it ,going to try with the black grubbing trick sound like a plain and same them vide, lures . Would the vide lures work walking along the edges?
Thanks for the video. I will take plenty away. I am wondering what size jighead you use for the grubs? What brand as well? Cheers

Hey mate cheers for that. I haven't used the Laguna's yet but I'd assume they'd be a quality reel as they're a Daiwa.
I fish at lake hume any tips for there
@jakko Davis would you recommend using a spinner bait
Nc vid
