TO SKIP THE DRAMA RECAP 16:18 Hey guys.. phew.. so today I am going over everything that has transpired since the first Jaclyn Cosmetics Lipstick fiasco and subsequently reviewing the new limited edition highlighter collection that will be releasing on November 26th. I wanted to deep dive into everything that has transpired since my last video which happened to go pretty viral.. i wasn't aware in ANY way that that would happen, and while the beginning may seem long and re-addressing the drama, I wanted to fill in the blanks for anyone who didn't know so they can make an informed purchasing decision if planning to buy the collection. It may be redundant to some, and new to others. I apologize for the length of the video.. I would have just merely done the review without addressing the past things that have transpired, but I know a lot of people wouldn't want that, and if uninterested, can skip past it to just the review. The sheer amount of people that have reached out to me about this collection is staggering, I think because of the outcome of my first video on the lipstick collection, a lot of people expect me to follow up with regards to this second launch to give my opinion and review. I am not going to put all of her products under a microscope for the sake of it. That is not how I review products normally, nor how I will be reviewing any makeup products in the future, unless need be (which I doubt). I ONLY did that to see what I was seeing with my eye, up close since I didn't have a magnifying glass. Thats it. I also discuss all of the recent accusation and drama since this collection has launched to have it all in one concise place for people to come for information on the collection. I am sorry that it seems like I am SO critical of everything, if I am not thorough enough I get ripped apart, and same if I am TOO thorough. So I am just trying to do my best here.. If you want to see my thoughts on the new highlighter collection, stay tuned & I hope you enjoy.
I mean there’s a very huge difference between tearing someone apart and insulting someone and reviewing the PRODUCT. It’s really important people don’t cross into that territory. Humans are really heading down a dark path and passing it off as “honesty”. It ain’t cute
telling women not to criticize other women because feminism is so gaslighty. fuck that shit. i'm going to hold other grown women just as accountable as i would a grown man. not a tough concept to grasp
I really wish people would stop using female empowerment as a weapon to silence women with. You weren’t attacking Jaclyn, you were reviewing a brand. Feminism is about equal rights, not telling women that they’re never allowed to hold each other accountable or give honest critiques.
Shelter Two People need to hear this. The concept of feminism is never subjective and all these elements were never a part of it. A lot of so called feminists are toxic and a blot on women’s grace. This arises because of fake people who don’t give a damn about this trying to portray a better image of themselves.
Disclaimer: I am a dermatologist who loves makeup. From a consumer point of view, the first launch destroyed my faith in this brand. If I were ever to buy or receive another thing from this brand, I would worry about what’s in the product - waiting for the other shoe to drop. From a dermatology POV, I have too many questions that have not been answered or resolved yet by the brand. They never explained what really happened, after numerous people called them out on their questionable explanations about production process and lipstick ingredients. *This brand lacks transparency that is concerning from both a consumer and a medical point of view.* Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
Well said. I was wondering the same: 'We could see the fuzzies, hair, and metal bits in the lipstick, but what contaminants might there be that we CANNOT visibly see?'
@@wizardess_of_oz there were NO metal bits in the lipsticks!! Its people like you that kept adding on things in the lipsticks. Shot im surprised animals weren't jumping out the tubes an people said they ran away.
@@craftyclaudine09 I've seen videos of people finding tiny bits that stick to a magnet. If that's not metal, then...? Either way, contaminants are just that. Who knows what's in them. Either way, GROSS!
@@craftyclaudine09 Multiple videos were made where you saw the unboxing and testing of the brand new lipsticks and unidentified contaminants were discovered. It wasn't just the fibers or the air bubbles. There were little black granules and what looked like plastic bits.
@@butterflyblues2917 I didn't say there was nothing in the lipstick. But plastic and metal are two different things. I totally agree that what happened was bad and she didn't handle well at all . But I'm glad she decided to try again. She has always had heaters that were more extreme than others why I don't know. She's an awesome makeup artist an no one can take that away!!👸
Valerie Guerrero the outside of the lipstick tube is textured, but the actual inside bullet is polished. So when jaclyn referred to the gloves, she meant the inner polished part. That part would easily show fingerprints.
Robyn Zentilli but standard latex gloves wouldn’t have left fingerprints on that part, which was the actual lie she was called out for. And the “white fuzzy” fibers were embedded into the lipstick bullets. There’s no way that happened during the process of placing the lids onto the components. That happened way before.
The prices of her brushes really stunned me... and even Dior's Backstage Glow face palette is cheaper than her highlight palette... and Dior is an established brand where you can swatch it in-store...Her price point is RIDICULOUS!
Her company is way smaller than Dior. It’s an economy of scales situation which is why her products are more expensive. I agree her products are expensive but established company have access to more resources and sell larger quantities which allows them to have better prices.
I love how Kristi actually appeals to everyone’s empathy during videos like this. Like she took quite a bit of time to illustrate how hard the mass hate must’ve affected Jaclyn. I think that’s an important thing not to miss
@Pleoryo but if you have a few million dollars in the bank , backing from everywhere then surely your product will be as good as you say? Specially after taking 7 years to develop it?
I feel like the reason why she sent you the PR is to prove to you that she’s changed how she runs her company and she wants to prove to you that you can trust her in the future with her products
Best reviews are from people that have given negative reviews of products to then give good reviews. People pay more attention (haven't watched the whole video yet so don't know if that's the case here)
“The two palettes are $49 each, which feels...” My brain finished that sentence with “...like a desperate attempt to get back the money she lost on the lipsticks.”
When I studied advertising we learnt of subliminal messaging. That is what she is doing with the design box and her products. She make you think Fenty, Becca and Hourglass, the three companies known for highlighters. She wants us to think successful brand owner, not one with faulty lipsticks. And it seems to be working.
My question is though, is it more of a "look, we're on the same level as these brands" type of marketing? Or is it more deceptive, hoping some consumers will mistake her brand for another one? Or heck, even both. I could see it being either one, with her.
I thought, Lancôme absolute powder in absolute petch. hourglass ambient light highlighters, and Kylie Jenner loose highlighter in Fiji that she used to love!
Jaclyn was the first “beauty guru” I started watching. I bought champagne pop, I loved her looks, her tutorials, her videos but as time went on her dishonesty, fake apologies, drama and “extraness” pushed me to not only dislike her as a creator but also to not trust any word coming out of her mouth. Yes, I don’t know her as a person but I do not want to be a follower of a conartist and someone driven by greed.
I feel like as soon as she became friends with Linda from Morphe she went to the dark side. that company and family is not on the up and up. linda taught her the bad way of doing business.
Cynthia Alonso I agree 🙌🏻 I used to love her so much! She was the first beauty guru I started watching as well, but she is constantly disappointing especially after she left social media with her lipstick scandal, imo that made her look even more bad then she was already looking.. 😔 such a disappointment more than anything
This. She’s so incredibly talented but all the drama with pretty much every launch she had really turned me off so I stopped supporting her. It’s weird to say but sometimes I miss watching her
I love how you talk about recyceling and mica and and things like that that some people dont think about, I didn't know anything about the mica industry at all for example. You are a breath of fresh air in the beauty community !!!
Girl people are crazy “ ur a grown woman bringing down a grown woman” like bro it’s makeup u review makeup what are u gonna say “this is great! The hairs are cute and the dots are fabulous “ hell no i appreciate you doing your job and telling me what’s up with everything u review!! You have saved me a lot of coin throughout these passed few years!
Amber Cotrone when did she attack her physical appearance? I rewatched the video and I didn’t hear anything that was even close to a comment on Jaclyn’s looks good or bad. Was it in a tweet or something?
See this is how much we love Kristi...I feel like 90 percent of us ( myself included) have absolutely zero interest in this collection but still will watch an hour long review about it and love every minute of it
I love that you touched on the ethics behind the mica, but it makes me sad that NO ONE talks about how this exact same thing is happening with the diamond industry and it's so sad that all of this child labor and unethical practices are swept under the rug with an "out of sight, out of mind" mentality. Thanks for keeping it real, Kristi!
@Lucky Sport Natural doesn't mean safe. A lot of plant derived ingredients are very complex in their chemical composition and are known allergens or could cause allergic reaction over time. I don't wear much makeup because I have sensitive skin, but even for the general public, natural ingredients are definitely not the answer
@Lucky Sport I don't blame you that you don't know. But most "natural" ingredients are actually more sensitizing and more dangerous, especially those flower oils. I've been there too, thinking that all natural means better, so I know where you're coming from. But now I know better. It'll be too long to explain and some people would refuse to believe in actual science and research based facts, but I still hope that you can be open minded, and do some real research, listen to the scientists and dermatologists. A lot of makeup that are for sensitive skin aren't all "natural", and making your own is a good way to develop a contact dermatitis in the long run.
It was a smart move to keep Kristi and others on bc if she did well and those people publically said it was good then the public opinion is more likely to sway. I think it was a smart move for jaclyn.
@@EmilyPritchett93 i completely agree and i was just about to comment that too. i think it's incredibly smart for jaclyn to have kept kristi on the pr list because her last video pulled so many views that she knew everyone would rush back to watch kristi "drag jaclyn again" but then the video turns out positive and changes peoples' opinions, thus generating more sales for jaclyn.
@@Yaya_SanchezPerry Exactly! It's like a cushion if they don't sell then they'll be gone because it's LE but if they do good then they'll mostly keep them as permanent
Also she blatantly lies to anyone's face. There are quite a few body language enthusiasts reviewing her "apology/excuse video". She just doesn't care about other people. She cares about her image and money.
I am never going to support her brand. Not just because her first launch was contaminated but because of her lack of accountability, her out-of-touch sense of reality, and oversized ego. If he had straight up said her first launch failed, taken responsibility, and recalled the product she would have received a better if not positive reaction. But she didn’t and will not and she truly believes she did nothing wrong and it’s “the haters” that have the problem. Jaclyn continues to play the victim and guilt-trips her younger audience into supporting her brand. She comes across and narcissistic and manipulative and that is not somebody I believe deserves to be rewarded for her behaviour.
Erika Armstrong I love this explanation. I think too she has a lot of YES men behind her telling her what she’s doing is fine / okay / good. Justifying the bad behavior.
Brooke Stroud Lots of high end brands have disappointing launches but it would be stupid for a company to entirely restructure their pricing because of one blip. Becca for example has a ton of launches that flop but it doesn’t mean the next product they put out will be significantly cheaper because then they’d be stuck to that price for forever. It’s easier for brands to start high then run promotions and sales then launch low then increase the price later and watch people freak out and get mad.
@@Makinguplauren not a lot of brands have launches where literally ever product has fibers found in it. In my opinion, with her history she's asking for too much.
Don't you dare feel bad about that previous video you made! Everyone was talking about it and people just wanted to see what EXACTLY the truth was. Like you said, you don't just put makeup under the microscope all the time, but you had the most valid of reasons for doing so. Who tf came for you‽ I am not having it; that is some complete bs (just like Jaclyn's old excuse). It really baffles me that someone would criticize that video in any way. You didn't attack her, you were not biased, you just reported facts that many others corroborated. I don't ever want to hear anything close to another apology about that awesome video you made again. You did a super-great job.
I don't even care about any of this drama but TH-cam reccomended her tutorialsand well here i am, but if a professional ANYONE _________ is examining her tools however she deems necessary to clearly SEE there's some nasty, unpleasant stuff in there........and that's causing ppl to complain about being "shady" more so than the issue........WHY is this even controversial? Don't try to understand idiots. We don't know half the evil of what lurks in the "beauty" industry from animal torture to sex trafficking or what manufacturers do in other countries with little to no accountability......so keep microscopin' away, baby!! I love your personality btw.
Jamie Lynn & with this launch, she said she did it for us. No gorl, you did it for you bc you want to make money. That's how a business works. Don't act like you're a martyr.
Whomever called Kristi shady for putting it under a microscope, I don’t know about that. If I received something that had hair and crap growing on it, I would want to inspect it too! Who wouldn’t?!
Kristi was watching out for the consumers & her audience I don’t blame her at all. She’s always trying to look at a consumers point of view & it’s so helpful!!!
Stine Høiaas Jeppesen It’s all over the drama channels right now. The loose powder highlighters all have the same exact batch code (except one of them is different) just like the lipsticks did, and someone said that she said she’s been wearing them for 6 months, so people are speculating that they were made in the same labs as the lipsticks. We dont know for sure, though.
Jen Marie no she had these working in a new lab (she said it in her lipstick apology video) at the same time the lipsticks were being made. It’s probably limited edition because she isn’t going to work with the lab that made them anymore for other reasons. I’m no JH fan but you’re on every other comment saying the same thing when it isn’t what was said to the public. And if so, sources please?
The pricing is too high on this. She always talked about how she wanted to make a brand that was affordable for “us”. I think the price point on this collection is trying to recoup the losses of the lipsticks.
Not at all, its more expensive because its actual quality, give the girl a break honestly, ridiculous how everyone will pick her apart.. you cant afford .. don't buy it lol simple
Conspiracy theory: Jaclyn Cosmetics saying "this is limited edition" just to manipulate people to hurry up and buy it and them come back with "DuE tO HiGh DeMaNd, tHiS WiLL bE pErMaNeNt" when it was meant to be permanent from the beginning. I feel this way because I was THINKING of buying the highlighter palette AFTER the first launch to see if it really is worth my time and money. But Jaclyn claiming this is limited edition, sits weird with me. Why though? You're a STARTING brand, you act like you've been active for years. You don't have time to make shit limited edition. If you really proud of what you created, why not make it permanent? THIS IS MY OPINION. And made me NOT want to purchase anything anymore.
Diana Yanel that’s not a conspiracy theory babe it’s just a real marketing tactic. Example- the original Jaclyn hill x morphe palette. It was “limited edition” and now you can get it literally anywhere.
Oh there’s sooo much more than meets the eye. She knows how to manipulate her followers especially those who ride for her! That’s why she pays them top dollar besides her margin for the sale and refunds she’s done for he lipsticks (Im aware there’s more people who have yet to receive refunds) She needs to keep her lavish lifestyle that’s what she is grateful for each one who spends money on her products bc they keep her rich. 🤷🏼♀️ therefore high prices for her launch... crazy there’s more to her but ehh 😂 everyone has their own opinions and everyone can spend what they wish...
disagree. the highlighter palette is about 12 dollars each, you can buy a highlighter like that in even drugstore brands where packaging is low quality. I think the pricing is regular for the past 2 years of launches.
She ruined her buyers trust too much to be coming out with a price like that 😂. “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me” type shit. Then the batch codes are the same? Weird
@@amandabelg503 ah ok. But still 12 dollars for a tiny single in a pallet is alot. I'm not American but in England you can buy large pans of highlighter for £2 from primark and they are amazing
Dahlia Black as a business accountant I can say you are absolutely right. it’s disgusting to see how poorly she runs her business. no integrity whatsoever.
As someone works in insurance industry, I think it's likely the case as you stated. She might have not purchased product recall coverage or purchased at low sub-limit. If her lab did her dirty, she should be able to claim something with the lab's insurance but at what scope I don't know.
Yes, you’re correct. I’ve worked in the insurance industry for 18 years and she would have had to have it in her policy for recalls, which I’m sure she didn’t since she didn’t think that could ever happen to her. A lot of people leave different coverages out of their policy’s bc they didn’t think anything would ever happen to them. Case in point, hurricane Katrina. Tens of thousands of people didn’t have flood insurance on their homeowners policy’s which is why that area still looks like a war zone bc no one had the coverage to fix their properties. That’s much different and I felt horrible for all of those people, but just saying it’s the same concept
But I think you’re job is being honest with the public, especially when they were clearly not safe. I think you did a good job. You were very thorough but you didn’t rake her over the coals. You just reported. You should be very proud of how you handled it!
Seeing Jaclyn Hill and that other influencer wipe their face with $100 bills was the cherry on the cupcake. That was trash and disgusting to see. Shame on her.
I can’t be the only one who truly wishes the lipstick was amazing because the colors were bomb but I no longer trust her because she never gave us the real truth
I was kinda expecting a re-do of the lipstick launch... not a whole new line of products. I guess that's not how the cosmetics industry works though...
I can't STAND how she handled it. Disappearing for so long and then her apology video was infuriating. I wanted so many of those colors. But I'll stick with her baddest beige recommendation from Maybelline.
I can’t buy anything from Jaclyn because she just throws out lies on lies and you don’t even know what the truth is anymore. She hasn’t resolved everything from her original failure and I wouldn’t buy it trust her new stuff.
You're not cute You're beautiful!!! You brought a life to this world and fought for your own life while bringing her here! I understand what you're going through right now, but trust me, you'll find it worthwhile as you watch your baby grows and loves you back! You go Momma!!!
@Alena Vikernes666 oh, isn't it cute how edgy you are. Being all Black Metal and trolling on the internet. Your fucking nazi idol has a channel on YT so go there. Or grow up and decide that you don't have to be an absolute a*hole.
If she’d launched the highlighters in the palettes as individuals and charged $30 each (pretty standard pricing), would you think that odd? But when she puts four together and charges $49, that’s an insane price? I don’t get it. (And I’m not a big fan of hers-haven’t really watched her videos in a couple years.)
Christa Swint $30 is standard for a high end brand, I don’t consider her brand high end in any way nor has her brand proven its worth that price point, especially after lipstick gate.
Aly Class those aren’t small pans and frequently. Becca highlighters = $38ea. Fenty Freestyle = $36. Benefit = $30. Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost = $29.
The prices are everything other than justified to me. I would never pay 49 dollars for a palette from a brand that effed up so horribly just a few months prior.
Yeah... but let’s be honest, this is a Jaclyn issue, not a mica issue. Tati’s palette has mica, Jeffree Star’s formula has mica, ABH has mica, Natasha Denona has mica. You’re essentially raging against Camel cigarettes because they cause cancer, but are totally fine with Marlboro because the Marlboro Man wouldn’t lie to you.
It seems as though most people care about harming animals(which I agree is a huge deal) but don't even think twice about humans and children in bad conditions....kinda sad standard
Dani Wood in a way, I think you’re right. I think Jaclyn is receiving the backlash currently because of how she brought it up. Her sales pitch sounded like she discovered this incredible, unique ingredient called mica and she’s marketing it as “facetune in a jar” when the reality is that mica has been around forever and there are tons of ethical issues surrounding it. So I think Jaclyn’s lack of awareness/Avon saleslady pitch is what’s really getting people angry about it. Everyone uses mica and it’s hard to avoid but they’re not pitching it as a miracle product.
I’m not cancelling Jacklyn because she was never on for me, but at this point I don’t get it why anyone would support her brand, especially with this pricing. We have SOOO many brands making great highlights, we do have options.
Personally, I've never been disappointed with any of the products I've bought with her name on it! Champaign pop and Morphe/JH palette are still my fave! Even her lipsticks were nice but I know most of them were fucked up so I can't defend them ( 3 out of the 4 lipsticks I got were perfect and I got a full refund withing 2 weeks)! So I have NOTHING bad to say about her brand and her personality still resonates with me. As for the price, it's a lux positioning. It's all down to what people can afford/want to pay. For me that highlighting palette will be a yes. :)
@@AngelxBabyxoxo I said it's a "lux positioning". Each brand choses to position itself in the market by chosing it's pricing, packaging, branding. She chose to position herself on the high end market. Some Chanel makeup is the exact same as some Bourgeois makeup (owned by the same group) and one has lux positioning and the other drugstore! As for why she hasn't talked about her ingredients, it's because she hasn't launched the product. It's like asking for the movie when you see a trailer, doesn't make sense. Start complaining about it when the product is actually out. Then your complaint would be legitimate and your concern real. :)
@@AngelxBabyxoxo No products any brand uses in makeup makes it luxury. It's the name. There is not a single palette, single shadoe, lipstick, highlighter, bronzer, foundation or any other makeup product worth more than $20.00 to $30.00 with shipping. Most people thatbare talking shit are just still on the hate Jaclyn train. She gets more hate and blame than anyother TH-camr on the platforn other than Onision and for her, it's uncalled for. People need to redirect their focus on getting a proven predator off of TH-cam and all other playforms instead keeping the Jaclyn attacking ongoing. It's petty. Or, rven calling out other high profile influencers in the beauty world that have made the biggest cash grabs and have sold out.
I just can’t support her anymore. She clearly lied to us about the lipsticks and fuzzy gloves so I can’t trust the products she produces. 😭 I’d rather spend my money elsewhere.
Yess!!! MAC NARS ESTEE LAUDER CHANNEL DIOR the best why buying something else that you don’t know and no trust 🤷🏻♀️ I’m very happy with this brands ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yeah that's great. And I hope she can talk about animal test as well. There are still so many people have no idea about animal test, but not many youtubers are talking about that...
Honestly I wouldn’t pay near that much for highlighters from a brand with this reputation, especially when drugstore highlighters are doing pretty well.
Kintsukuroi my all time favorite highlighter is actually a Colourpop (i know it’s not quite drugstore but still not expensive) super shock highlighter that they no longer sell, but the formula on those is my favorite anyway. There’s also some really good maybelline master chrome highlighters and wet n wild has good ones as well. Pixi is kinda on the higher end of drugstore but they have a highlighter palette collab with Rachloves and it’s super cool.
*hears that* *looks at myself* : sweaty, ragged hair. Bags under my sleep deprived eyes. Unkempt beard. Little bit of acne. Thanks, miss, I needed that.
I commend you for that microscope video of the Jaclyn Hill lipsticks. I can’t even believe people would talk shit on you about that. It’s not like you were contributing to a smear campaign about it... There was a serious issue with those lipsticks. I respect anybody who’s honest. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Jaclyn: I made these highlights before the lipsticks. (After lipstick launch): I’m going to Italy for the first time. I’m so nervous. (Highlight launch video): These were made special for me in Milan, Italy. Labels on loose highlights: Made in USA. 🤷🏽♀️ Ima need Jaclyn to get a story straight. Great video Kristi. You are a truth-teller and I can respect that. 🙌🏽
Still they were made in that short of time? I just don’t trust her. Kristis lipsticks in PR were nice, it was the ones she bought herself that were rancid, and hairy. This PR is probably the same.
“Sorry whAT? I can’t ... I CANT HEAR YOU. I’m going over here now.” 😛✌🏻 I’m crying. Your impression of Jaclyn’s company was *chef kiss* Absolutely amazing.
Marisol Tapia dude she lied repeatedly and still never addressed most of it. There are people who still say they haven’t got refunds. The metal shards and hairs never got addressed. The fuzzy gloves made absolutely no sense and just. She did nothing but wade around the issue, gave half ass explanations, and sweep it under the rug. I will say A lot of the massive hate was completely out of pocket.
If any other brand had a terrible first release, nobody would expect them to then lower their prices for the next launch. That would be a pretty stupid business move.
Marisol Tapia well I DIDNT get a refund so let’s not go there. My lipstick didn’t seem “bad” so I wasn’t super bothered but I did try multiple times to get a refund until I just took my L and accepted it. I’m willing to give her a 2nd chance everyone deserves it but I will be waiting till costumers reviews come out.
Gotta be real with you, you’re the only person in the “beauty community” I trust and listen to. Everyone else feels like they have something to gain (or rather, a lot to lose) to NOT provide a genuine review of products. I respect you being messy sometimes like the rest of us and honest with us, always. Thanks, dad.
The fact that this seems rushed, ingredients aren’t on the products, and some say “made in the USA” but she said the products were made in Italy are all things putting me off of even being tempted to buy.
Yeah, the highlighter palettes are the only ones made in Italy. However, the loose highlighters are labeled made in the USA and both formulas have the same batch code.
Only the baked highlighters are made in Italy, hence why that's what's labeled on that packaging and the others in the USA, which is why the others are labeled as such. In her launch video she addresses that she wanted to make highlighters in places where certain formulas where a speciality . ie: since baked highlighters and the baking process is one that Italy specializes in , having her baked highlighter formula palette come from there
Kristi: “I want it to be like that lit from within glow” Also kristi: 👁⭕️👁 “OK! This is.. lit from the outside glow” this is why you’re my favorite I cracked up
Lipstick-gate was not the first time she "smoothed over" quality issues. The improper treatment, of paying customers, is unacceptable. Not interested in her or her products.
She crossed the line from influencer to CEO and if she doesn’t understand how to behave as such she needs to take classes. I’m not even just trying to be an ass... she genuinely needs to learn customer service skills. She doesn’t separate Jaclyn from Jaclyn Cosmetics when she needs to I.e. the girl she talked shit when people first started coming out with and ghosting on social media.
Highlights are nothing new and the colors have been done 100x over again. You can get the exact same effect for much cheaper. This is a money grab and unfortunately she has enough stans that are stupid enough to buy her crap again. I’d love to see her ‘brand’ disappear and for her to be humbled. Her video saying “this isn’t about me, I did this for all of you” about making her highlights is comical. She’ll make millions of dollars from it and keep it all, but it’s not about her lol
Tbh this "money grab" better be because shes too broke to pay everyone for the lipsticks. I have a strong feeling that the people that didnt get their refunds will soon get them after the launch. If they dont ill be super disappointed all over again...
i hope this isn't strange, but watching one of your videos makes me feel like i'm chatting with a friend. you're truly a light in the world, Kristi. thank you for being you!😊
I wonder if she is making them “limited edition” to pressure people to buy the product (encouraging sales).. Watch the products stay around because “that’s what the consumers wanted”
I really hope no one in these comments says anything about her (JH) appearance, we RB Kristi family ain't about that. And it has nothing to do with any of this.
It’s weird that JH didn’t request the lipsticks back and actually test them instead of guessing it was just from “fuzzy gloves.” Let’s all be real, that just sounds like BS.
Rachel K oh no :( I think they’re really great, I agree with her when she says that beauty starts from within (including food, not just vitamins). But I get not everyone was interested in that since she reviews makeup lol.
And she has the audacity to charge 50 bucks for a damn highlight palette, shes lost her damn mind and is probably over charging to try and make up some money she lost from her last launch that was a nightmare
Brandy Weaver yeah that's a little much, even from a business standpoint. She has never made makeup. She invented a company that apparently is full of flaws and then charges more than high end makeup thats been around for literally decades
She’s just trying to get her money back from all the loses from those nasty lipsticks, now she wants 54dls for a highlighter....umm no I don’t think so. You can’t even see the swatches on Kristy 😂😂
I LOVE watching “Refinery 29” and I watched the “mica” documentary and it was intense! Huge applauds to you for raising awareness on the issues. It is definitely eye opening! Love your channel
Unfortunately, even if these were the most beautiful highlighters ever, I wouldn't be moved to purchase because of the horrible customer service during the last launch.
I know I feel the same, if something happens to go wrong or you simply want a refund.. I wouldnt want to deal with her "customer service " or lack of it
I agree!! I emailed them after trying them out and had a bad reaction (not allergic to any cosmetic so far) during the blowout to have the customer service email back and pretty much blamed me for not looking at ingredients prior to ordering! I couldn’t believe the response anything to justify her pockets.
It would be crippling to the economy and poor regions of India to use synthetic Mica. That’s why in the documentary officials were talking about needing to end child labor versus ending Mica mining
@@iluvSchleeping they were confirmed to be contaminated by microbes by at least 2 lab reports. She never shared her labs because I assume they came back contaminated. Reckless statements like that puts the consumer at risk. Shards of metal, hairs, and any foreign objects arent "safe to use" as she claims
I don't know why I'm watching this video again (actually I do. It's to find out about the Physicians Formula dupe that you mentioned). But all I can tell you is that she rips off everybody. It's literally Becca and Hourglass with a little bit of Fenty. There's absolutely no originality. She just rubs me the wrong way. She's just a used car salesman dipped in highlighter.
TO SKIP THE DRAMA RECAP 16:18
Hey guys.. phew.. so today I am going over everything that has transpired since the first Jaclyn Cosmetics Lipstick fiasco and subsequently reviewing the new limited edition highlighter collection that will be releasing on November 26th.
RawBeautyKristi please do a full face in your baby cat voice!!
Omg omg omg I truly hope she has great comeback.

I hate Jaclyn but here for my real dad ✨💗✨
Love you Dad x
“You’re a grown woman bringing down another grown woman” - “No, I’m a person who reviews makeup, reviewing makeup” YES GIRL.
Isn't this the reason for watching in the first place? It's only afterwards you realise she's just class too. X
I felt that💜
I mean there’s a very huge difference between tearing someone apart and insulting someone and reviewing the PRODUCT. It’s really important people don’t cross into that territory. Humans are really heading down a dark path and passing it off as “honesty”. It ain’t cute
@@c.comiskey9630 you just said the most honest and clear words that no one else has. Thank you !!!!
telling women not to criticize other women because feminism is so gaslighty. fuck that shit. i'm going to hold other grown women just as accountable as i would a grown man. not a tough concept to grasp
I really wish people would stop using female empowerment as a weapon to silence women with. You weren’t attacking Jaclyn, you were reviewing a brand. Feminism is about equal rights, not telling women that they’re never allowed to hold each other accountable or give honest critiques.
This! 👏👏👏
Exactly.
Did Jaclyn hill even apologize?
Did she own up to anything?
EXACTLY!!!! YES YES YES!!!!
Shelter Two People need to hear this. The concept of feminism is never subjective and all these elements were never a part of it. A lot of so called feminists are toxic and a blot on women’s grace. This arises because of fake people who don’t give a damn about this trying to portray a better image of themselves.
Amen!
Did I just watch a 57 minute review on a product I’m not going to buy? Yes. Did I enjoy every minute of it because it’s RawbeautyKristi? Also yes.

*This brand lacks transparency that is concerning from both a consumer and a medical point of view.*
Fool me once shame on you.

She's an awesome makeup artist an no one can take that away!!👸
kristi comparing a lipstick component to a home depot refrigerator is literally why she’s my favorite youtuber and will never unsubscribe
The prices of her brushes really stunned me... and even Dior's Backstage Glow face palette is cheaper than her highlight palette... and Dior is an established brand where you can swatch it in-store...Her price point is RIDICULOUS!
belle32100 seriously!
gucci lipstick is cheaper and that says something..
Her company is way smaller than Dior. It’s an economy of scales situation which is why her products are more expensive. I agree her products are expensive but established company have access to more resources and sell larger quantities which allows them to have better prices.
i was thinking the exact same thing
Smaller brand, and at least with the palettes, Italian pressed products are usually pricey.

People pay more attention (haven't watched the whole video yet so don't know if that's the case here)
I agree definatly a move to make her brand look good. Jaclyn stopped following her on insta so you know she's salty.

“The two palettes are $49 each, which feels...”
My brain finished that sentence with “...like a desperate attempt to get back the money she lost on the lipsticks.”
When I studied advertising we learnt of subliminal messaging. That is what she is doing with the design box and her products. She make you think Fenty, Becca and Hourglass, the three companies known for highlighters. She wants us to think successful brand owner, not one with faulty lipsticks. And it seems to be working.
That is really interesting
Like the Shane series 🤔
That or she’s just unoriginal
My question is though, is it more of a "look, we're on the same level as these brands" type of marketing? Or is it more deceptive, hoping some consumers will mistake her brand for another one? Or heck, even both. I could see it being either one, with her.
I thought, Lancôme absolute powder in absolute petch. hourglass ambient light highlighters, and Kylie Jenner loose highlighter in Fiji that she used to love!

I wasnt aware if this issue. Thank you for pointing it out.
@Lucky Sport uhhhh but there's literally synthetic mica though? lush uses it.
@Lucky Sport what do you mean? that is the alternative.
I think if she took everyone who said something bad off her PR list. There wouldn’t be anyone left.
It was a smart move to keep Kristi and others on bc if she did well and those people publically said it was good then the public opinion is more likely to sway. I think it was a smart move for jaclyn.

captainwinchester so annoying when she call herself a CEO 😂 she’s not even close to a boss.

captainwinchester her “apology” video came off so snotty
Erika Armstrong totally agree
Her ego is so large! It’s absolutely disgusting. She is a classic narcissist.

Erika Armstrong I love this explanation. I think too she has a lot of YES men behind her telling her what she’s doing is fine / okay / good. Justifying the bad behavior.
The price point seems very high considering her last product launch was a hot mess.
Brooke Stroud right. Is JH delusional or is it her fans that are
Brooke Stroud Lots of high end brands have disappointing launches but it would be stupid for a company to entirely restructure their pricing because of one blip.

I’m no JH fan but you’re on every other comment saying the same thing when it isn’t what was said to the public. And if so, sources please?

Example- the original Jaclyn hill x morphe palette. It was “limited edition” and now you can get it literally anywhere.
@@pjhogue1987 you right, it is marketing

She said in her video that there are five shades... FOR NOW. So I guess it won't be limited edition unless it flops

Offering refunds instead of recalling allows her to claim the insurance and not suffer a loss. (If I’m not mistaken)
Dahlia Black as a business accountant I can say you are absolutely right. it’s disgusting to see how poorly she runs her business. no integrity whatsoever.
Wow! 🤔 I'd never buy her product first and foremost because...its jaclyn hill....
As someone works in insurance industry, I think it's likely the case as you stated. She might have not purchased product recall coverage or purchased at low sub-limit. If her lab did her dirty, she should be able to claim something with the lab's insurance but at what scope I don't know.
She has no integrity as a person. It’s really sad
That’s much different and I felt horrible for all of those people, but just saying it’s the same concept
when she showed the camera in the palette mirror and said “you guys are looking cute today” i said thank you.
🥰🥰😂

But when she puts four together and charges $49, that’s an insane price? I don’t get it. (And I’m not a big fan of hers-haven’t really watched her videos in a couple years.)
@@ShawolOT5 uhh in what world is that standard pricing? When's the last time YOU spent 30 dollars on a small highlighter pan? Christ...
Can we get an end of the year compilation of all your bloopers? I need it.
TheOnlyShin Right?!?! And yes please!!!
👏👏👏👏👏💯
When I saw she sent you the PR box I was surprised and really happy. That’s honestly a classy move for her
BRATTERSTEIN it is! I like it
Agreed.
For once
Agree x
its a good move on her part. especially if she comes back with a good product, it helps reinstate trust in her brand
Chandler voice: Could she _PUT_ her name on the palettes any more times?!
The wet n wild loose highlighters are the same thing for like $5. Save ya money loves.
Love the Wet and Wild highlighters also!!!
Oh man, I got the hologothic set when that launched and those highlighters were so good. Wet n wild coming in clutch.
Yes. Maybelline Master Chrome too
Rachael Machado-Andrade also maybelline! Colourpop also has bomb highlights. JH is dumb.
Not cruelty free though
The prices are everything other than justified to me. I would never pay 49 dollars for a palette from a brand that effed up so horribly just a few months prior.
Kristi: I wish I had four cheeks to test this on
Kristi's bum: Am I a joke to you?

Whitney Fugleberg lmaooo
😂 so I wasn't the only one that thought of those cheeks
I’m really glad you mentioned the environmental impact of these giant pr boxes with excess packaging! I wish more people would talk about this/care.
"Cruelty free" makeup isn't cruelty free if it harms people through horrific working conditions.
It would be interesting to know how many cruelty free make up brands fall also in the same category 🤔
Yeah... but let’s be honest, this is a Jaclyn issue, not a mica issue.
Honestly every single product you use at some point was made with poor work conditions. Everything down to clothing, home, food and the list goes on.
EXACTLY. Also am I the only one who highlights witth light shimmer eye shadow?
Personally, I've never been disappointed with any of the products I've bought with her name on it! Champaign pop and Morphe/JH palette are still my fave! Even her lipsticks were nice but I know most of them were fucked up so I can't defend them ( 3 out of the 4 lipsticks I got were perfect and I got a full refund withing 2 weeks)! So I have NOTHING bad to say about her brand and her personality still resonates with me.
As for the price, it's a lux positioning. It's all down to what people can afford/want to pay. For me that highlighting palette will be a yes. :)
Ilva Godroli how would you know it’s ‘lux’ if she doesn’t even list the ingredients she used to make them?
Same. I feel like her products are as shady as dupes that are trying to pass as the real thing, but more expensive
Exactly. Those fuzzies were IMBEDDED, how on earth anyone would buy another thing from her
I feel the same exact way girl
We have so many other options, why in the world would we buy from her again?
Exactly! There're so many highlighters out there so chose from. Plus they're just as good if not better and less expensive.
Yess!!! MAC NARS ESTEE LAUDER CHANNEL DIOR the best why buying something else that you don’t know and no trust 🤷🏻♀️ I’m very happy with this brands ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kristi speaks out about a lot of important things. I'm glad I started watching her.
Yeah that's great. And I hope she can talk about animal test as well. There are still so many people have no idea about animal test, but not many youtubers are talking about that...
The children have to work over there though. They don't have it easy and if they don't they will starve to death.
Honestly I wouldn’t pay near that much for highlighters from a brand with this reputation, especially when drugstore highlighters are doing pretty well.
I just wish the drugstore would make a version of the luminous powders that aren't glittery
Yes. Wet n wild highlighters. Do u know how many of them I can buy for the same money? Lol

🤷🏽♀️
Ima need Jaclyn to get a story straight.
Great video Kristi. You are a truth-teller and I can respect that. 🙌🏽
I think she went to Italy for the “baked” highlighters but I could be wrong!
Courtney Hastings Thank you! 😊
The baked ones are from Italy.
Still they were made in that short of time? I just don’t trust her. Kristis lipsticks in PR were nice, it was the ones she bought herself that were rancid, and hairy. This PR is probably the same.
Only the baked highlighters from the palettes were made in Italy! :)
“Sorry whAT? I can’t ... I CANT HEAR YOU. I’m going over here now.” 😛✌🏻
I’m crying.
Your impression of Jaclyn’s company was *chef kiss*
Absolutely amazing.
I think its hilarious how expensive her brushes are when she's affiliated with Morphe
The Greed honestly is whats disgusting. She only cares about herself and not the consumers
This is what i never understood. Like, even her MORPHE brushes were outrageous. I just cant with her. And its been like that for a while.
Yea it's just rebranded Morphe
@@DB-xo6xh as greedy as she is, people are somehow stupid enough to buy from her
Sarah Schreiber yeah just give me my $6 brush please and thanks 😁
I’m sorry, but she doesn’t have the track record to support that highlighter price point.
Every single person I know, including myself got a refund....
Oh really? Did you forget about champagne pop? And her The jaclyn hill eyeshadow palette? ICONIC. Morons

Amanda L I think that she said that only the baked Highlighter palette was made there. But nobody knows 🤷♀️
Yeah, the highlighter palettes are the only ones made in Italy. However, the loose highlighters are labeled made in the USA and both formulas have the same batch code.
YES! Same. No one seems to he talking about this!
Only the baked highlighters are made in Italy, hence why that's what's labeled on that packaging and the others in the USA, which is why the others are labeled as such. In her launch video she addresses that she wanted to make highlighters in places where certain formulas where a speciality . ie: since baked highlighters and the baking process is one that Italy specializes in , having her baked highlighter formula palette come from there
Some brands package their products in certain countries to be able to say it’s “made” there. Was a huge scandal in germany
Kristi: “I want it to be like that lit from within glow”
Also kristi: 👁⭕️👁 “OK! This is.. lit from the outside glow”

Lipstick-gate was not the first time she "smoothed over" quality issues. The improper treatment, of paying customers, is unacceptable. Not interested in her or her products.

She doesn’t separate Jaclyn from Jaclyn Cosmetics when she needs to I.e. the girl she talked shit when people first started coming out with and ghosting on social media.
Not everyone has a refund but they’re cleaning themselves w $100 bills. Even if the highlighters are good, I can’t get behind this brand
Brigida Olmsted how do you know? Bc Jaclyn said so?! Lol. If you believe anything she says then you’re just as delusional as she is.
@Brigida Olmsted even if it IS fake money, the message behind it isn’t a good one. makes her look like a money grabber.
Alyssa Tanner I also wondered if this was something that would happen. I suppose we’ll see
Alyssa Tanner hell yeah! I hope she does! It’s just good business practice and it’s not hurting anyone.
@@poisonapple177 it's actually illegal

It’s weird that JH didn’t request the lipsticks back and actually test them instead of guessing it was just from “fuzzy gloves.” Let’s all be real, that just sounds like BS.
And why would QC wear fuzzy gloves? When it’s lipstick or anything tacky at all they use those clear plastic food-grade gloves.
I just got to the part where she explained the white fluffy gloves... makes no sense.
How do these palettes cost more than Tati’s eyeshadow palette? Makes no sense to me.
