The stock exhaust manifold and SS pipe on the stock 650sx doesnt even look that bad actually for stock lol.. They had all the room inside they needed to make a good stock exhaust.
It sounds like it was a shame the Polaris Jet ski's didnt last, i barely ever see them at all period here anymore basically. Never got to check one out or ride one of the nicer 2-strokes they had.
I would love to see the list of OEM pipes made by Factory Pipe.. that would be super interesting!!!

I’d love to find a Polaris octane hiding somewhere, I’m sure it would be fun to ride. As far as pipes Factory Pipe has made, I know they make all Polaris snowmobile exhausts. Literally every single one, and it’s been that way for a long time. They also make for Victory Motorcycle and Artic Cat. Others too.

Great interview. I remember the heydays of Factory Pipe in the PWC industry. Every magazine whether it be PWI, Splash or Watercraft World would have a Factory Pipe advert with bikini-clad women across page 2 and 3. And there’d always be a review/water test of their latest pipe. I was wondering what had happened to them and I’m glad to hear they’re doing well.
Back in the day, people here in Australia would wait until they knew someone who was travelling to the states and ask them to bring back a Factory Pipe for them, as they were really expensive here. But they’d still sell out here regardless, as they were that good. I was always wondering what Ross was like, as the PWI articles would sometimes talk about him and the background of FP. They had some sort of bowling alley in town where they’d meet up for breakfast typically, then head out to the testing lake. I’m sure they were good times.

It sounded like such a cool product, wish he could have gotten the bugs ironed out on that ignition.

Great interview, we ran Factory Pipes on all our race skis in the 90’s & early 2000’s it was amazing the difference their pipes made on limited race ski.

@@tonytabor we do quite a few graphic kits for jet skis . Just did my sxr 1500 & working on kits for my 2 750 sxi’s.

When are you going to get Ross to make a B-pipe adjustment video?

@@theunderknown6751 personally I know how to adjust the pipe but other people don’t.

We’ve talked about this, I know once a person deviates from the standard it’s really hard to have a set formula. As Ross says, once you make other changes to the air box, compression, carbs, etc, then you’re the chef in the kitchen and it’s going to take some tuning.

Shut all the screws except the top one. Then only slightly open the top screw. Run the pipe hot, use a thermal imaging gun (FLIR etc) or make it sizzle when you drop water in the chamber. But too hot 🥵 and you will melt couplers, and too cold you will leave power on the table. I build a garden hose adapter to make sure the screws are actually closed before install. Freeride for life!

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I've wanted a Factory Pipe limited pipe for my '95 Kawi 750SXi for years now but seems like there's little chance of getting one other than shelling out $1500 for a used, often incomplete kit when they pop up from time to time. Love the look of the ski with it's original ultra-90s (perhaps most 90s?) graphics, but maybe an '08-'20 SuperJet would make more sense.

All Jetskis are cool. But the Superjet is the king in our book. 🤙

I have a B pipe on my FX1 and I burned up the coupler, its been years since I rode it at this point. The ski runs but fills the engine bay full of smoke.

2 stroke cant pass emissions? The BRP etec is better than any 4 stroke in that regard, shame they dont put the 180hp 800cc sled engine in a jet ski. Bonus is 4stroke need a cat con, dfi 2stokes wont need them.
