I went on the Disston web site and it started in 1840. And it went out of business in the 2000's 160 years. That is older than Canada 1867 - 2024 is 157 years. I just also wanted to say how great of a job you did. And not just because of the resteration. But you explained tecniques and phrases to us like peening. I never knew the term used to explain the way you hammer the rivets. Thank you and have a great one. I am now a follower.
I was impressed that you used rivets for the latches. I’ve seen too many TH-cam restorations using pop rivets or screws. These look so much more professional.
Thanks for watching!! I chose black because that is the color that all of these toolboxes were painted at the time. The same color as the Model T - just black!
I'm just saying you did such a good job! Kind of like when you move into a newly renovated home. It will never be as new or clean as the day you move in. Can't wait to make vids like yours one day once I get my own house and won't disturb people I share walls with making noise.@@CatalystRestorations
This whole project was two videos, Part 1 and Part 2. This video you just watched is just Part 1 and Part 2 combined into one long video because some people prefer it!
Interesting brass coating method!
It's my favorite little trick!
This was top notch. I learned several new skills watching this. The brass converting is very cool. Strong work!
Thanks for watching!!!
Amazing!!! This is not a restoration my friend, this is an art work!!! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Keep it up🤝🤝🤝💯💯💯

Thanks for watching, Bill! Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for subscribing! Really puts it in perspective with those dates; quite a run!

I also use pop rivets sometimes, but for this particular project nothing else except solid rivets would look nice!
great work as always, thanks for sharing with us... greating from France
Merci d'avoir regardé !

Nice job!
Thank you!
I'd feel guilty using this after all the work done to it! Great Video!
I know what you mean, but at least there's no more guilt they're just rusting away!

Cool video and great job on the restorations. I picked up a few tips from this that I will incorporate in my shop!
Thanks for watching!
Very nice work.
Thanks Dale!!
Very nice work!
Thanks Shan!!
Amonia with a little washing up liquid works a dream in the ultrasonic cleaner.
Interesting - this ultrasonic cleaner manual specifically says to NOT use any solutions containing ammonia.
@@CatalystRestorations The amonia smells a bit (a lot), but it's what we used to clean very dirty jewellery.
Congrats on getting married. Enjoy the rest of the year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! ✨
Is this a repost? I feel like I've seen this before.
It's just Part 1 and Part 2 combined - some viewers refer this format.
Почему, после видео с отчисткой инструментов, идет ссылка на видео с ремонтом ящика, в котором сначала идет отчистка инструментов?

Please post the width, height and depth of the keyhole. I have a bunch of old keys, maybe we'll both get lucky...
I'll see what I can do, Otto! I gave the toolbox back to its owner the other week, so I'll have to check with them!
Park mfg...Any relation to park tools I wonder? They now make bicycle tools.
I did a lot of research to see if they were indeed part of the same company history, but no luck. So...maybe?!
Was that Darth Maul playing goalie?
Who better to stop those balls!
Ух ты, сколько всяких ключей и отвёрток очистил, красота! Я тоже хотел бы со своим ящиком так же сделать, но мне лень.
Just take your time! You can do it over many months!
Part of me thinks keep that old split wooden handle and somehow incorporate into something else later on.
I've still got it! I usually save all the old wood handles from things, because you never know!
@@CatalystRestorations awesome news. Such amazing work once again.
Hi!
Howdy!
Why not just put it all in a large bucket with a couple of gallons of vinegar, leave it for a week and rust be gone? Cheap and easy.
You can totally do that too!
So... Long story short, the tool box was full of tool box making tools.
It's all connected 🤯🤯
salt vinegar flour NO NO NO! brasso toothbrush YES YES YES
