You’re absolutely correct about the speedo not working when the bearing goes out..that the first thing I look for when looking at old cats for sale..love your old sled collection..
Ive never had a sled with large lugs, we are all about having them set up loaded with picks. Being from maine i was either going down groomed power line/ wooded trails or scooting across lakes and fields, 95' Formula Z 583 and a 99' Formula lll 800. Miss those things they sure were fun in a straight line an thats about it lol. Loving the build man keep it going
Really enjoy your videos. Excellent content with a lot of new information I've never heard of. Good luck with your projects, l don't intend to miss a single one of them. Keep em coming !
If I had that sled, I would buy a speed track and a big pile of chisels with 1/2 inch or more penetration. I would lower and lighten the sled and set it up for radar runs on shaved ice. Ditch the stock hood gauge pod seat and remove the oil injection, plumb in a rail-lube setup and put a good clutch on that motor, gear it for top end.
to install the centric bearing on the pto side you need to tighten the chain case side then tighten the the centric bearing and tighten the the set screw, that will line up shaft in correct location in tunnel if not you will pop the collar off the bearing, I know from experience,
Lot of work but looking like ur doing the right way. I would of just bought the extensions 😂. Idk if there weak never used them myself cant say. Always been a fan of the hooper 1050 kits man there fast. Iv never heard of the one urs is but im sure its gonna be a very fast fun sled. Crazy how u found ur old sled on marketplace thats amazing so cool.
Have you had any problems with the spring chain tightener to the Thundercat 900. Got a t cat 900 (96) and am thinking about putting a manual chain tightener but dont really know how.
They use them out West for hillclimb racing or grass drags. They hook up really good and you can put ice screws directly into the tips of the fingers. Not good for ice racing. For that you want a lighter track with studs

Lots of ways to do them wrong. I've found out to many of them. Thanks!
Giddy up kitty cat 👍
This channel is great! Very exciting project
Glad you enjoy it!
The holes in the track let the snow out and you wear sliders much faster.

No experience with finger tracks. Here in Minnesota we load em full of picks or chisels and send em across the ice!
what part of utah are you in? we are up in the draper area. we usually ride up at monte. maybe ive seen you guys
i find it easier to install track with the sled on its side good luck with the build very cool sled
Definitely easier !

Help a guy replace that driver bearing on a 96 ultra 680😅😂 never been that far into a sled haha.
Never hurd of a finger track

Man those finger tracks are terrible unless your always on icy crust or water
