Excellent! Skid steer repairs are my favourite vids! Enjoyed watching the exploratory surgery on the bobcat. Like other commentators, I'm really looking forward to the next parts. Thanks for filming.
@@jaydnp. thats not good probbly origional owners didnt take care of it and not serviceing it often wich i would do and it be lasting and probbly never checked the oil wich woldve been smart idea
Great video. Definitely hydro locked for that damage but dodged a bullet with such little damage. I'm with you new rod and piston and slap her back together.
Thats a handy lift you have there and spot in the shade to work. The Bobcat looks alright, with a rebuild on the engine should be good for a few years yet. I have an old 1970's Bobcat Skidsteer with a Deutz Diesel air cooled engine which has been worked hard, it still lifts and drives ok. Slow but sure. needs a couple of Tyres, and a lad asked me yesterday if I would sell it.
They used those 3cyl Kubota's in alot of old lighting plants mate, before the new battery ones came out. If for some reason you need another one, it might be a place to look.
I really wish I could find a mini diesel skid to rebuild. Every single one I've come across has been way overpriced, to the point of being high-risk gambling. my smallest a lahman little dipper is still too wide for gates. nice work. thanks for the video
kubota engines are pretty simple to work on and be back to life the 23hp kubota engines here in canada are around $1,799 at my kubota dealer wich isnt bad
That is one too many starts with ether, but in one sense it's actually good because the explosion kept the damn thing from starting, and actually knocking a hole in the block. Someone has been using ether to start it all the time which is what burnt the exhaust up and of course there is either soot all over the damn thing. Sadly this time someone sprayed way too much either into the block allowing it all to accumulate in that one cylinder causing it to explode the minute the key was turned on probably no grounds on the motor whatsoever,as its had too many hands on it. Instead of replacing the high-volume fuel pump mechanics or mechanic wannabes really used the return fuel line for vacuum clamping it off causing the fuel to gather in the ejector pump which more often than not will keep them from starting however it does prolong the life of a fuel pump occasionally but unknowing operators use ether to start the damn thing because there is no pressure in the fuel pump for start which is why no one should ever clamp off any return line and no one should never spray either into a diesel I use gasoline rags myself and people saying that's not possible but I do it all the time a gas rag in the filter canister is much better than anything, and by far safer.
that rod snapped off because of over fueling. the injector likely overloaded the cylinder. you'll need a complete rebuild. get the three pistons, rings, and bearings. also, get the head, pump, and injectors rebuilt. don't go cheap or you'll be rebuilding it again soon.
Ive been trying to find a 310 to rebuild and here pops this video in my feed. Just started watching but curious what you paid. Ive got a Honda vtwin in crate to repower when i can find one.
Your video was very informative…………………..I have a pallet jack that needs human manpower to move around,,,,,completely forgot about the battery operated one………………… I gotta get me one of them thank you…………………ran rollback in a junkyard didn’t realize over across the pond that they put knuckle booms on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that’s a neat trick it’s a real neat trick thanks for being very informative and showing somebody on the other side of the pond some great ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!keep up the great work happy holiday Samuel bacon
After you've cleaned it up, could you check the bottom, just in case? In case some of the rod actually did hit it and maaaby dented/cracked/chipped/abraded somewhere. idk, I'm just asking.
The bobtach will leak down over time (2 years in the case). All the weight is in the back of this machine plus has flat tyres so it just looks like it's lifting it
Mate I enjoy your vide and commentary but the things you buy are really big hrs machines and always going to give you grief. Have you watched C & C equipment USA? He has a great operation repairing machinery.
Look I like vids and your attitude but are you looking to be a machine repair shop or an operator? You’re not making any money repairing old tired machines unless that’s your business. This is not criticism just a friendly question? Good luck.

Great video you do very well explaining everything and I know that you will make this machine better than original because of your other videos
Thank you

the s70 has kubota engine and parts are still avalible for it even older engines

From what I've found out, it's a bobcat specific kubota motor

It's definitely always risky buying broken equipment, especially when they don't run

YEA Mate! replace that one piston, rings and other parts, and she will be good to go. getting that motor out was a beast..
Hopefully, it's not too much of a pain to put it back in
That was lucky, like you said could have been far worse. Looking forward to the re build. 👍

That amount of crank endfloat was worrying. That big end shell was worn on the edges because of that.
Great engine though.
I was to, glad I worked out the issue

Agree was most likely a fuel issue. Shame it hurt the motor
The motor is only part of the problem that pump and injectors need rebuild before you even think about starting. A rebuild will not be cheap either.
💯 roll over i did a toro track loader roll over and they started it and snap rod
Could have, no real signs of roll-over on the machine though

Once I finished all the work around the farm, I sold it.

Nice to see a diesel most small ones I've seen are petrol machines from AMERICA.

Definitely, it will need a good inspection before it gets put back together.
Help me understand why I saw a pressure washer wand with me own eyes yet he’s working on a filthy motor?
nice, what you do for a crust
You’ve mixed up the lifter rods, bad idea
In something like this, will be fine

If it’s not got any power from the engine, Then how come the hydraulic bobtach is been moved to lift the front wheels off the ground,
