Testing the PING Adjustable Hosel FLAT Settings

- The PING adjustable hosel (known as the PING Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel) includes three FLAT Settings that players can utilize to flatten the lie angle and optimize their ball flights. The FLAT Settings on the PING Adjustable hosel will decrease the lie angle by up to three degrees, which can help combat a left miss for a right-handed golfer OR a right miss for a left-handed golfer.
In this video, 2nd Swing's Drew Mahowald is joined by master club fitter Jake Montgomery to test the PING adjustable hosel flat settings available on the PING G430 Max 10K driver. Drew has used the PING G430 Max 10K driver this year and it has performed well, but his common miss is left. Could the PING Adjustable hosel flat setting help him?

I play each of my hybrids in the flat setting (they’re PXG hybrids, but the flat setting is 3* flat just like PING’s), and it does help keep them from turning over too far left.
Ping and PXG flat are money, bruv
For sure - thanks for watching! - Drew
I have all my Ping clubs (7w, 9w, 5h) set on flat and they are the only clubs I feel comfortable working a cut if needed with.
For sure -- definitely gives me more confidence when I want to hit a cut as well - Drew
I use the flat setting on my G430 but I also have the rear weight moved out to the fade setting toward the toe. I never see the left side of the fairway now.
This is a great idea!
Have all my Ling woods in flat EXCEPT my gamer g400max doesn't have it😢... good replacement for flat setting would be obviously g43010k and possibly tsr2 as I thought those could be flat too?
Titleist's hosel does allow for the lie angle to be flattened slightly, but the PING hosel's FLAT settings can adjust the lie angle more
G400max doesn't have flat setting per se, but if you put it in any other setting than standard (0), it will go flatter. +-1 settings are flatter than standard and +-0.6 settings are even more flatter than the +-1
@@blaablaa945 great info, so do I understand the "small -" will open face some AND have most flat setting, more than the large -? seems backwards but curious, thx
@@home4ya Yes, correct. From most upright setting to flattest = 0 -> big plus and minus -> little plus and minus. The more you decrease loft, the more open the face will be and vice versa. So from most open to most close face = big -, little -, 0, little +, big +. Changes will affect less than in newer ping woods with the new adapter, because the "range" is less in the old one. But nevertheless it does affect.
Great insight, thx!!
On the flat setting, does club face still open up when going down in loft like it does in the standard setting? So if you put it in flat setting and needed even a more open club face.
Yes, the club face will open slightly just by nature of of the lie angle decreasing
So "flat -1" would really help us hookers? 😮
How is the loft setting affected by the lie adjustment?
Do the hosels on these appear bent i found one for sell and im thinking it might just be slightly broken??
Yes at least the section that lives inside the driver
Yes, they do appear bent. That is normal.
I have this club and it slices more than any driver I’ve ever hit. Any adjustment for that? I’ve been really disappointed in this club and the lack of fade/draw adjustment.
It’s a really heavy head. I put a 20+ gram weight in the butt end of my ping driver shafts. Swing weight at C5 but makes the total weight heavier. And helps those heavy heads close faster for me. Try it out and put in the small plus setting.
its slightly fade bias but as much as 10K MOI is forgiving.....it ain't fixing a slice.
Loft up will close the face a bit. Other that that, watch the face at set-up and maybe move the ball closer to your front foot or a golf lesson. My 10K sits very neutral at address. I have it set to flat and slightly open it to minimize pull hooks.
Is the flat setting down 1or up 1?
There are 3 flat settings on the PING hosel, and these settings flatten the lie angle by 2-3 degrees. You can set it Flat and add one degree in loft, go down one degree in loft, or set it Flat and use the standard loft.
@@2ndswing was is set up or down on the video to stop the left shots?
@@ericmerrell9056it’s on the flat setting, so less upright. He put it in the neutral flat
Ping’s website says that the loft adjustment is plus or minus 1 1/2 degree. Not 1 degree.. So if I buy a 9 degree driver I can set it to 7 1/2 degrees,,,correct???
PXG has flat setting also
so your not really changing the "lie" angle, like the color coded ping irons do....changing this "lie" seems to just open and closed the club face angle....
2:02 looks like you had feet closed and shoulders open a bit....
Guys, flat setting is 3 degrees down, not 1.5. How come club fitter doesn't know that? Clearly stated on Ping website.
Thanks for watching! The flat setting moves the lie angle down up to to 3 degrees, not necessarily exactly 3. It is a 3 degree difference from the standard O setting to the standard F setting, yes
Take that!!!!
@@nisch2379 No, the +1, -1 on the flat setting is for the loft. Flatting setting +1 degree loft, flat setting -1 degree loft, etc. The lie will be anywhere up to 3 degrees flat based on the loft setting within the Flat portion of the adapter.
