I'm a beginner. This was one of the most informative. Loved it. I didn't realize you could also use the slide release to load. Glad that you showed different ways that are. Most seasoned gun users act like there is 1 way and 1 way only to do things. Great video

Lol I had to take a 4 hr practical lesson for my ltc. But when the instructor showed up he said "yall know these kill people right? Yall know these ain't toys? We can sit here in 100 degree weather and I can show you how to use it, yall can use your common sense and not play with them" we were out in like an 1 hr
For new shooters I recommend not pressing the slide lock release. Especially if you just purchased a new gun as the release button can be really tuff to press and hurt your fingers and even cause blisters. Slingshotting the slide when it’s open is the best and easiest to do. Just pull it back all the way and let it go. If you’re wondering how to eject a bullet already in the chamber just eject the magazine first and then pull back on the slide and the bullet should pop out safely. These are the issues I was concerned with when first learning myself. Also, on some handguns or pistols if you release the slide by pressing the lock release you may end up causing your gun to jam after firing a few rounds from the magazine. Somehow I found it will act up for some reason so it’s still best to just slingshot back the slide which avoids most jamming and any injuries to your fingers. Sometimes the slide will not stay locked if there is not a magazine inserted so you would have to hold it back and press the lock up which can be difficult so I recommend dummy rounds for practice if you don’t want to load live ammo at first. Doing it this way makes it less scary/stressful for new shooters. Also if the slide is open and locked and you are unable to slingshot it back to release it then you probably don’t have any live ammo in the magazine. An easy way to release the slide would be to simply eject the magazine and then carefully pull back the slide and it should safely release it for you. 👍🏻
Those are great reminders, and we appreciate the input! Thank you for commenting. Thank you for watching! If you would like to see videos similar to this, please subscribe to our channel, and check out our website to find your next holster. aliengearholsters.com/
If the slide is locked to the rear, you still being able to pull the slide back to release it with the slingshot method shows that the spring isn't in full tension. It's not by a huge amount of course but maybe if the spring is a bit soft, it may not fully go into battery. (Though I've never experienced this issue myself)
It's easy to forget the basics, and we all need brushing up on those from time to time. Thank you for watching! If you would like to see videos similar to this, please subscribe to our channel, and check out our website to find your next holster. aliengearholsters.com/
Thanks for the video, Jason. One scenario you did not cover was at a non-range location. Noted differences are to load- muzzle down, magazine in, slide rack, apply safety if applicable, holster pistol. For unloading- muzzle down, magazine remove, grip slide to front, pull magazine to rear, shell ejects into palm of hand, etc. Numerous variables, but that's the general drill. The main difference is to keep muzzle down and not to drop magazine or shells on the ground, and of course, no accidental discharges allowed!
We appreciate both the feedback and input! We have a lot of knowledgable subscribers like yourself which is nice. We appreciate your comment and want to thank you for being a subscriber.
1. No accidental discharges? You mean negligent discharges? 2. Saying no negligent discharges allowed is like saying no car collisions allowed. I guess they shouldn't be, but they happen anyways, don't they? 3. Lastly, the safest way to eject a CARTRIDGE (not shell as you state) is precisely to let it fall on the ground. Having someone try to catch a cartridge out of mid-air while still holding a firearm isn't as safe as just letting it fall and picking it up. 4. You talk as if you're very knowledgeable about firearms, but considering the mistakes you've made in your comment, I don't think that's true. Do yourself and everyone around you a favor: look up the Dunning-Kruger effect here on TH-cam.
I don't know why but I had a weird feeling I needed to know how to do this so I looked it up. Now I'm hooked on this channel. I love how he talks straight to the point and doesn't go into anecdotes or rants about right or wrong.

Basic rules of gun safety are to treat every gun like it's loaded, don't put your finger on the trigger until you're ready to shoot and never point at anything you're not willing to destroy. There are many negligent discharges that happen by accident and if everyone followed these rules they could be reduced to about 0

Poor basic drills for a beginner who shouldn't pull the top slide back with an overhand grip to prevent the pistol from pointing everywhere, very poor and not needed to know unless you are in a situation where you need to shoot at someone and not on a range.

Some dont like the slide release because of SLAM FIRE ...
Could you say more about this? I googled but there is no short, easy description. Most are 24 minute videos.
In my handgun safety class they didn't go into that much detail. Thanks!

So at the end of the day at the phase of unloading the pistol, do we always lose one unused ammunition (the one in the chamber) ? Is it right ?
You are not losing it, just ejecting it from the chamber. You can still re-load it again.
What is the point of sending questions if you dont answer ???
