I watched a utube of a designer last night that says that your bottom chair rails should be 30 to 32 inches from the floor. It helps elevate the ceiling. I had also read this too. But I put mine at 36.
Looks like you didn’t do picture frame below the windows at all. I have a powder room that has a small wall with a standard window on that wall. Do I just do the moldings on either side of the window and nothing below the window? I’m doing molding 42” up from floor and wallpaper on top half of wall. It’s a 10ft ceiling overall.
Yep, I skipped the area under the windows because the squares would have only been about 5" high. I thought it would look to busy under my low windows. But, I probably would have added them otherwise. But, go for whatever look you like. I LOVE the wallpaper over picture frame trim look. Good luck!
No, my walls are pretty smooth. If your walls are textured, you have to be careful using caulk. You don’t want to accidentally fill in wall holes too. 👍

You are the bomb!! Thanks so much 🙌🏻
Thank you!!
Awesome! I've been watching a bunch of videos and instructions looking for nail size. You are the only one mentioned it! Very helpful thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Some of the old “rules” have new variations. The original, 25-year old chair rail in this house was 36, so I wanted to match that. Do what you like. 😊
@@AbbottsAtHome You don’t learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing, and by falling over. Especially after a few glasses of vino.
2 easy steps : 1- call contractor. 2- Pay contractor. Lol 👍
