wow, a 2 lane road, the drive must have taken 8 hours back then. amazing thing is that it still looks like this today, bigger highway but same run-down, burn out, abandoned shack houses out in the middle of nowhere. what is with the soundtrack of gunfire in the background? when in Vegas go see the Neon museum, a few of those signs INCLUDING the Flamingo sign are all there lit up. The Flamingo sign was created by a woman who also created that Flamingo font.
Can anyone pinpoint the exact date this was taken? From the listing of acts on the marquees (e.g., Pearl Bailey at the Flamingo, Frank Sinatra at the Sands) and then consulting the Las Vegas Sun or Review-Journal, it could be done.
September 1956 is my best guess for the Las Vegas scenes. Haven't found an exact match but all the lineups at Sands, Flamingo, Thunderbird, and Sahara fall in that month. We have a color photo of the exact Sands lineup also dated September.
I was thinking what a wonderful place, No Humans and then you went and disappointed me with a bunch of them evil hairless Speedo wearing apes. Thanks a lot 😢
Wonderful trip down memory lane. I love this small town Vegas! The soundtrack is great, too!
AI has transformed the old grainy and shaky film in a moving Hopper's painting... it's a new form of art! I loved every minute of it. 👍👍👏👏👍👍👏👏
Looks like a drive thru Death Valley to Vegas. The footage is very surreal and has a painted quality. Reminds me of the art in the video game Myst.
Thank you so much so great when people post the best era in Vegas
Lovely pictures from the 50ties and 60ties the best time humanity has witnessed and lost forever.

The Cali Road conditions look far better than now actually.
Loved this and the music! ❤
Didn’t know driving from LA to Vegas involved going up the 395 to Lone Pine (05:00). Nice video nonetheless.
This looks like it was put through a paint program... as if it was redone with a filter. Strange looking,...kinda surreal.
It looks like a surreal video game.
Even with all the windows down, it must have been a nightmare going through the desert with no air conditioning. YIKES!
2024 same view, love it!!......Everyone complains..... enjoy the ride....................
What's the castle-like building at 8:00?
It looks like Scottie Castle in Death Vally National Park.

Leave LA on a Friday these days and there is much for traffic than the 1950's. 😀😀😀
Thanks to Share this footage i would like to see the original
15:26 is what we came to see, just could not see more.
ll those clubs have been blown down
No way did you have go through Death Valley to get from LA to LV.
Nice to see, but pity it's been stretched
Yeah stretched like your Johnson
My gosh, how the topography changed on 70 years. And people want to let climate change go on….
I was thinking what a wonderful place, No Humans and then you went and disappointed me with a bunch of them evil hairless Speedo wearing apes. Thanks a lot 😢
A lot of good film wasted on boring subjects
I was really hoping this was from LA-LV via Interstate-15. 😔
Agree, except that the 15 was not built then. This is a trip from LA via Mohave, taken many times on the way to Reno.
