Pop Nostalgia
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 20 ม.ค. 2022
My parents grew up in the depression here in the United States. I'm fascinated with history and how much life has changed since the beginning of time. Every video I edit I learn about history and it inspires me about the world we all live in. I enjoy restoring old video and film. I do this with computer software that allows me to use color correction, sharpness, scratch removal and add color to the moving pictures.
Driving from LA to Las Vegas 1950s in COLOR w/Sound
A nice drive from LA to Las Vegas around 1957. A great view of the road, the mountains and some small towns along the way. And of course arriving in Las Vegas at night along with some day shots.

I use a variety of editing software from Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, Avid to Edius. It depends on the project.
Be aware that video restoration efforts are not always accurate. Colorization of video/film is complex. Artificial Intelligence Tools (AI) or computer software is only as good as the algorithms designed to understand the colors. Colorization is ambiguous since we are trying to go from grayscale to a 3-D signal created around mixtures of red, green and blue. So while it may not be perfectly and historically accurate, it has come a long way over the years. So try and enjoy the efforts to colorize the past as best as we can.

Driving at Night Los Angeles 1946 in COLOR w/added Sound
มุมมอง 1.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A drive around Los Angeles in 1946. Many have told me this is part of downtown LA including Western Ave. and Magnolia Ave. And it includes Olive Ave., Maple and 8th Street. Hopefully some of you will determine some of the exact locations. This was fun to restore and colorize. Decent film to begin with. A bit bumpy of a drive but I left it that way so it was more natural. Video/Film Restoration ...

A restored look at Egypt in 1927. Color and sound added. A variety of cool shots from the pyramids to Port Alexandria. Also a great look of Antwerp Belgium during this time period. A real glimpse into Egypt in the 1920's. I enjoyed the colorization process on this film because even though the film is older, the colors worked out well for their time. Classic video of the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California in 1937. In color with sound added and 60 frames per second. The original film quality was average at best. Hey it was 1937! But I was able to bring out some of the colors correctly and you get a good experience of how important this day was for California and the United States. Absolutely amazing.
No way did you have go through Death Valley to get from LA to LV.
AI has transformed the old grainy and shaky film in a moving Hopper's painting... it's a new form of art! I loved every minute of it. 👍👍👏👏👍👍👏👏
Back then whens its was one vehicle per family thats why the streets now is very narrow
That's 2 lanes each way with a big dirt medium in the middle. Put your glasses on.🥴
Diversity?
JIM CROW laws alive and well in this era of VEGAS. The MAGA crowd pines for this, when no "others" were allowed, just good Christian White Folks. Let the Jews count the money but only WASPS on the floor. Don't want to frighten the White Folks with THE OTHER.
I cannot believe this video has been up for two years, and it only has one eleven, at least when I “liked” the video. Wow!, I think this video would blow peoples minds remembering how we ever lived without texting and how there is such a relaxed vibe? Great video.
Colour.
OLD CAR
Awesome. My grandparents were kids at the time, running around the Irish Channel on Magazine and Annunciation.
Not a black person is sight. When America was great I guess huh?
Look at em, wasting their lives without Tick Tock
Thank you so much so great when people post the best era in Vegas
OMG those hot dogs look good.
Fat, pretty and jolly. Not politically correct in this era.
Man that beach was crowded. They looked like ants.
5:02 What a job that guy has!!
Women wearing dresses and no obese people
"No obese people!" Wow! A real scientific and prejudicial opinion!
Looks like a drive thru Death Valley to Vegas. The footage is very surreal and has a painted quality. Reminds me of the art in the video game Myst.
Wonderful trip down memory lane. I love this small town Vegas! The soundtrack is great, too!
wow, a 2 lane road, the drive must have taken 8 hours back then. amazing thing is that it still looks like this today, bigger highway but same run-down, burn out, abandoned shack houses out in the middle of nowhere. what is with the soundtrack of gunfire in the background? when in Vegas go see the Neon museum, a few of those signs INCLUDING the Flamingo sign are all there lit up. The Flamingo sign was created by a woman who also created that Flamingo font.
The Cali Road conditions look far better than now actually.
Every woman is fat, America 😂
What's the castle-like building at 8:00?
It looks like Scottie Castle in Death Vally National Park.
Would be great to see my grandfather I never knew, walking
2024 same view, love it!!......Everyone complains..... enjoy the ride....................

colorization is comically bad
What coaster is that tornado or the thunderbolt it’s not the cyclone
It is the cyclone I just saw it thanku great film
Grew up in Throggs neck grandfather bought a house there in 1920 left in 69 for Florida was a good life there till drugs came
Kind of wondering if the first minute and a half or so was taken on Sherman Way, because of all the palm trees. And of course, the last part of the video taken at the beach is NOT in the SFV!
Born in The Bx 1964. Grandparents came from Italy 1932. My Mom was raised in The Bronx during this time. Beautiful to see what it was like. Thank You.
Because of my favorite character I begin searching for New Orleans 1930s. I want to visit the place someday.
2:16 I've finally spotted the famous Los Angeles traffic signal.
Coney Island had been a nice place to visit in the early years. Sounds like it later in time turned into trash like so many other places. How tragic!!
A great time, and place to live..if you were a particular hue.
Your desire to add nothing but a weak whine to the narrative of Nola & its uniquely rich mix of peoples & cultures is useless. This era & this place was historically significant FOR once-rural black Louisianans, and all mixed peoples.
@@Cycology_Major "Oooh!Steady on.If you want to feel offended, there's loads more things going on today than in a 90 year old vid.
And look at it today with all the violent crime. White people have turned NO into a ridden ghetto.

Che belle donne che eleganza
I'm from new Orleans it has changed but keeping it's artcurtecure.
Ha Ha to all the people here gushing about the elegant women of a simpler time. This is police footage intended to keep track of high class prostitutes in the ritzy neighborhood around the Ambassador Hotel on Wilshire Blvd in Hollywood.
The streets were poorly paved back then...lots of potholes and obstacles..no white street signs yet.
Tht was a lot of people, I wasn’t even born yet
I think there are a bunch of crackheads, tents, and piles of human 💩along those sidewalks today. 😮
This is color?
It was a lot of fun… if you were white.
First of all, learn more English. Secondly, learn how to spell correctly. Third, spell check.
THERE WERE NO 40s CARS IN THE 30s! QUIT MAKING THESE MISTAKES!!!
