Good info. I just had an issue with my pump. The dealer cracked that fitting that screws onto the pump. FYI you need to install a ball valve like I'm going to do going to the wash down pump. I had to shut the seacock to stop the water coming into the boat. Without the ball valve for that pump I lost the use of my livewell with only shutting the seacock valve.
Yes. At Home Depot they have brass hose end fittings that attach to an air hose. Made for purging sprinkler systems. 10$ gets you a male and female fitting.
I see pumps that are 5 gpm. Has anyone tried going with more GPM ? My pump pressure sucks. So if that's a sign of it going bad and I only had the boat 3 years. Well I bought it used. So I don't remember having a lot of pressure from day 1. Has anyone replaced their pump with a bigger one.
Eliminate the easy stuff. Like the sprayer and hose. If it's bad at the shutoff valve I'd say you need a new pump. 3 years of salt water in the pump is all I get.
I'm not 100%, but I think it was 5/8ID. But that was a couple years ago. When you order the pump, read the specs on the barbed end fittings it comes with.
Well done! I’m installing a new raw water wash down system and appreciate the reverse freshwater rinse add-on.
They just don't last long with salt water running through them.

Good tip Mike!
Got a Cobia as well. Same pump went out after 2 years. I’m doing this!
Check out my video on the macerator pumps!!
Great install. Innovative idea for the backflow for freshwater…hope that nets some extra life for ya 🤙🏼🇺🇸🤙🏼
Thank you!!
Amazing video. Whatever the threading on my livewell it is likewise not any threading known to man
Thank you! They must be alien threads!
"Odd-ball fitting size"... yeah they wouldn't want you to just be able to use a standard plumbing part!! haha... good fix!
I learned that one from Mike Grzych on the Cobia FB page. Its a great modification.
Do people flush the pump to the wash down and live well when they pull boat out after use by using a inboard motor flusher
I would say most people do not flush their live well pump-ever.
Curious if you could blow out the system from the drywell fitting and avoid using antifreeze?

What size was the tubing that you purchased from the hardware store?

@ I just read it has to be vacuum rated…I guess I’ll just get at west marine….also are you near point pleasant by any chance?
My raw water works but don’t have much pressure. It fills the bait well just fine but when you switch it to wash down the pressure stinks
Your raw pump and bait well should be two different pumps. The raw water impeller sounds shot, or the pump motor may be on its last leg.
