Tohatsu's have the best horse power to weight ratio. I'm not sure of top speed for Jake's boat. I'm sure it's close to 30mph. Top speed will vary with how much weight is in the boat and of course variable like are you running with or against the current? A boat manufacturer could easily manipulate that by running a stripped down boat down current. The thing is, a 17' boat of any type becomes more dangerous and high speeds. In calm, frog water over 30 mph might be fine but in skinny water, speed will get you in trouble. How quickly a boat will plane in a few inches of water and how it handles tight turns in very shallow water are far more important than top speed.
Jake says the fastest his boat has run is 32mph. With a couple guys up river usually 26-28. His boat is loaded with lots of extras including batteries for the big bow mount motor and a large fuel tank.
@@AnglerWestTV Oh I’ve learned that, I run a skinny local river and was just judging the weight of his boat to how fast it gets up and goes to get an idea for mine. Just don’t wanna get a 60/40 and have it dog out when in a sticky situation is all. Mines pretty light so i think that would be perfect vs this 90/65. id rather have the bottom end of a 4 stroke.
