Hey Joanna, You're looking fab as always! Just a pointer, you should never mix niacinamide with any acid, esp glycolic acid. The niacinamide raises the PH of the acid so your skin can become very sensitive and it will def mess up your skin barrier. Also try some Korean sunscreens, they have better formulations and are less sensitising than the neutrogena ones 💕
For Korean sunscreen, try the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence, or Neogen day light protection. I also hear the COSRX sunscreen is okay not sure about the whitecast because I haven't tried it. Purito was really good until they had a scandal that it was only spf19 not 50 like they said...so yeah. Hope that helps!

Niacinamide and zinc from the ordinary is not for acne control, works best for controlling sebum production this is for oily prone skin and can cause purging should be introduced gradually
the Neutrogena one that leaves a white cast is a mineral/physical sunscreen which are highly recommended if you have hyperpigmentation. The white cast is normally due to zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. The hydro boost one is a chemical sunscreen and its not recommended for someone who has hyperpigmentation . Any person of color is not supposed to use anything with AHA's. The BHA's toners/exfoliants are good for us though. I would recommend a doctor on TH-cam who reviews and advices products we people of color should use. Her name is Dr.vanita on TH-cam
I use a mineral sunscreen around my eyes then then bio balance everywhere else...since we also need to protect the eye are from sun damage /wrinkles . But at times if don't care about the white cast I do mineral the whole face.
@@priscamaina7201 I also use mineral sunscreen all over my face. After extensive research, I found out it's actually the best option for hyperpigmentation. I have the Neutrogena Sheer Zinc. I just use pressed powder to counter the white cast once the sunscreen settles on the skin.

I am switching to the cerave hydrating sunscreen or Centella coz they are fragrance free. This is very Important because fragrance is the number one cause of contact dermatitis. I am also looking to lower the percentage of the retinol since only small percentages are recommended for skin of color
Fully agree about the Neutrogena Hydro Boost sunscreen- I stopped using it because of the teary eye effect. The reason why it doesn’t leave a white cast and is super glowy is because it’s a chemical sunscreen, as opposed to the first one you showed which is sunblock aka physical sunscreen. I know sunblock leaves a white cast but after doing my research I actually preferred to find a sunblock that is more black-girl friendly and I stumbled on Biossance Sheer Mineral Sunscreen which after I let it sit, doesn’t leave a detectable cast. Finally I would really recommend getting on Hyram’s channel if you haven’t already- he taught me a lot about different kinds of sunscreens and exfoliants.

Niacinamide !!!! Even Joanna said that in as much as it did not work for her, it worked for her pores..you can get it from @beauty_accessories___ on ig
Niacinamide!!! If you react to this one by the Ordinary try Inkey list( affordable)or Paula's Choice(more expensive- but with Paula's choice use discount codes-@MakeupWoc on Twitter pinned tweet got me 15%, I also got 20% for email subscription). You can look for cleansers or moisturizers with Niacinamide. I would also recommend using retinol but retinol is so strong and if used incorrectly can damage your skin so do your research on how best to use it.
Have used ordinary nuacinamide and the pores have grown bigger
Try avoiding dairy girl
Hey Joanna, search for Dr.V on TH-cam, she is a skin of Colour doctor. She has great reviews(both negative and positive) on most products. She is quite informative.
