Condolences on the loss of your husband. I've been referencing your canning videos for a bout a year and finally subscribed. I know your husbnd was instrumental in encouraging you to post online from your earlier content. I hope you've found joy aagin this year. Thanks for the content.

Carol, I absolutely love all of your strawberry recipes!!! I wasn't aware of this book. Thanks for letting us know that a master canner friend recommends this book. Hugs!

I made this syrup with some strawberries I picked. Wish I could have made more but strawberries were so expensive this year. 🙁. It’s so pretty in the jars and I’m anxious to put some in lemonade and a margarita!

Can this be canned with low sugar or no sugar (artificial sweetener like stevia or monk fruit)?

It's certainly is strawberry season here.
I use only organic strawberries, since strawberries are # one on the dirty dozen list for pesticides. Lot's of strawberries available here in San Diego. I have a farm stand a quarter mile down the street from my home with a field of fresh picked organic strawberries. There is a strawberry festival going on today Sunday too.
Is it ok to use only 2 half pint jars when canning in my steam canner or do I need to add extra filled with water?
Thank you for this lovely recipe.

There are no minimums for steam or water bath canning 😊

Many popular brands of strawberries even organic now are treated with Apeel which says they are a “plant based” products (currently this term has no legal set standards in place) yet they are mostly very heavily petroleum and the foods are not labeled. Driscolls does not and says they will not use this on any of their berries. Just FYI. So farm stands or home grown are a great option.😉

Can you use Splenda to make it sugar free?

Hi Carol, I am certainly going to be trying this one, absolutely!! Quick question though.... should I put s splash of vinegar in my steam canner like I do with my pressure canner??

No bc the water doesn’t cover your jars so they won’t collect any mineral residue 😊

Hi carol. Wondering if I could use frozen strawberries since it’s not strawberry season when I’m watching this. Also, could I sub blackberries? It’s blackberry season here. Also could I use another sweetener besides Splenda? I’m thinking allulose. Thank you for your videos.
I’m so very sorry you lost your husband. I lost mine in 2019. I’m a long time Bible student and I teach the Bible free of charge. If you ever wondered what the Bible actually says about why God ever intended for humans to die, if our loved ones are conscious and able to see us, will we see them again, and more. Please just ask and I can send you the scriptures that tell us the answer to those questions. You can read them in your own Bible and decide for yourself. I think you will be surprised and hopeful. Let me assure you, you will see your husband again. And according to Bible prophecy, it may be sooner than you think. Again, I am so sorry for your great loss. If you feel like me, you lost your partner, your confidant, your sweetheart, your best friend. It’s very hard.
