Great insight. The Oregon Coast is amazing. I have a lot of retired family there. But the travel time to Astoria at 45 to 50 minutes from downtown Portland? Astoria is 95 miles from Portland. That's quite the lead foot! Drive safe!

Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City is also about 30 minutes away. Live in Brookings and love it.

I love going to Florence, Oregon. My family always go camping at Honeyman State Park. Florence is the beginning of the dunes. We walk in the old town. Stop and have fresh seafood.

People. The Oregon Coast is beautiful. But do keep in mind the weather along the Pacific is very different from the Willamette Valley cities. Today, 9/1/2024, it will be in the mid-80s and sunny in Portland. Florence will be cloudy, with an expected high of 61 degrees F. On average, Portland receives around 40" of rain annually, Florence it's 70". (The large cities in OR are in the rain shadow of the Coast Range.) Powerful Pacific winter storms are something to experience. Once or twice, maybe. Simply expect a lot of wind and rain in the Oregon coastal cities. Many people love it. Just be sure that's you.

Great information, but why the dissonant music throughout? It is very hard to get through the video with that music overriding your narration.

Question. Because Brookings is so close to California, do they experience more transplants or young people/families from California? Personally I'd really like to end up somewhere on the coast that isn't experiencing a lot of new housing development, and families/young people aren't necessarily looking to move there. The quieter, the better. Any suggestions for someone looking specifically for that?

I think Brookings is a good bet but also Florence and Newport could be that for you as well!

Florence is West of Eugene, not East.

I can't watch this because of the music. Too bad. Would be much better without the music.
