I had this confused with something I acquired at Sams, which I believe was called Juju Berries. I'm thinking now I have no idea what I bought but, it's flowering and we'll see soon enough. This is one I'll want to add to my garden. I only have a few spaced left for the "big" fruits and the rest will be filled in with blueberries and such. Everything will "touch" to keep the once-every-ten-year frost out. You have a great following, well-made videos and you're enjoyable to watch. Good product. Hi Mark! I’ve been looking to add a Giant Thai jujube (Indian jujube) tree to my collection for a long time. They’re very rare to find, even online, unlike the Chinese jujubes. I’ve never seen them in local nurseries. You are very lucky to own one. I ordered one from Etsy, and hoping to get it soon. Have a blessed day!
Ivan, I got mine at the USF plan show years ago. Unfortunately the tree died about two years ago after a cold winter. Very frustrating.. Good luck in finding the variety you are looking for. God bless.
I hope that you will be able to do a video with the Jujubee when it gets to the more ripened, date like stage. This is a fruit that I have never heard of! Blessings ~ Linda
Yea, all the fruit is gone for now but I hope to have more fruit next year at which point I will leave some on the tree to ripen to the full stage. Blessings!
Hi Mark, I just wanted to check in with you on your jujube tree. The leaves look like the Indian jujube called Thai. If it is, the fruit doesn’t taste good when it’s shriveled up, only when it’s crunchy like you are eating it.
Hi Jan, I was told that the variety I have is the "Li" variety. I assume this is correct. I have only eaten them when they are green and crisp which is what I prefer. I lost all the fruit and flowers when we had a freeze this past winter so no fruit this year. Happy Growing!
@@tropicalfruitman4394 Hi, Mark. I have a Li in the ground since Feb. 2022 and it produced 2 dozen fruits now in October, 2022. The shape of them is different than yours and are smaller. It is supposed to be a good pollinator for the sweeter kind, like sugar cane. I hope to get a Chico one this winter. Thank you for the video! Nice video! I have a Jujube that I got in March 2019 at the Spring USF plant sale, and I think it's also a Li. It skyrocketed from 4' to probably 15' tall last year, and had a huge flush of blooms. Right then, a tropical storm came thru and literally blew off all the flowers, so I got no fruit last year. It also damaged most of the leaves, with odd little tears in them. The leaves later all got some kind of black spot fungus, but still are alive. I'm curious and hopeful to see how it does this year! Thanks for your bold witness
Thank you. You should get more blooms and fruit set this year. Mine is done fruiting and so I'm going to prune it back a bit so it doesn't get too out of control. It likes to spread out. Happy growing and God bless!
Yes I do have that problem but last year was the least problems I have had with the animals. I purchased mesh bags to cover my peaches and some other stuff. It appeared to help.
@@tropicalfruitman4394 last year squirrels or rats ate all my little avocados and peaches. I'm in Tampa area too. I'm looking into some kind of coverings for the fruit. Can you tell me what you found?
@@tysonbrown249 Check on-line, E-Bay for mesh bags for fruit. They worked pretty good for me last year. You can also save the plastic containers that you get blueberries in at the grocery store. you can cut a notch in it then close it around a cluster on the branch and use a piece of tape to hold it together. That worked very well also.
How do you spell the version you have that you said was good? I would like to get one. We are in Plant City. Do I need to get a grafted one to make sure it fruits?
It is "Li Jujubee." I purchased mine at the USF Garden show but unfortunately I don't think it will be held this coming April. I do believe that "Jene's Tropicals" in St. Pete has them. From what I have read it may not be easy to grow from seed so I would would purchase a grafted tree. This way you will get fruit off the tree within two or three years. Happy growing!

This is Thai jujube -- not Li- it is better eating fresh ( light green) compare to the Li which need to wait until it turn brown or dry out
