1:16:35 "Is there like a gameing convention going on or that week or something" Did no one fill in Hugo Martin, Game Director of Doom 2016 and Eternal what he was getting himself into? This is priceless :D
that made it even more impressive imo He just stayed there cause he really wanted to see it and talk about the game - late at night Its not about it being the huge gdq stage, its all about his passion and love for the game Doom is eternal
This is truly the Quakecon of Speedrunning Thanks for watching this 100% Nightmare of a run. I hope you found the failures funny, and the commentary insightful! Much love ❤
One of the best runs I ever watched, so impressive, watching one in the harder mode live in agdq has to be nuts. Thanks Raitro_ and agdq for showcasing it!
Watched it all, great run, hadn't seen one in some time, loving the improvements to the route! Hugo our man, glad to hear him out, next time we want him live at gdq!
FPS speedrun god, doesn't get destroyed by ego when run is incomplete, and follows it up by being super real. 😢 I hope the years get easier for you mentally, Raitro_ RIP AND TEAR
22:00 the VA that Hugo mentions there is E.G. Daily, who voiced Buttercup in the _Powerpuff Girls_ She's a very prolific VA, and you might also recognize her as the voice of Tommy Pickles in _Rugrats,_ another classic 90s cartoon
Dude, the fact that Hugo showed up? What a freaking legend. I love that those guys are so passionate about their game that they love watching it played at the highest weeirdest level *checks watch* 8 years later. So cool.
This was an awesome run and it definitely tickled me that Hugo did not realize just how deep into speedrunning some of us nerds are, to the point where we have 2, week long charity speedrunning events lol
For those that were not able to watch this live, Hugo was asking the questions at 1:16:38 while about 70 000 people were watching the stream. We weren't sure if he knew just how big his audience was, but chat loved his commentary and insights and it was great having him there
Modern Doom 100% UN speedruns are my favorite. They're always so action-packed and hectic, and show a mostly legit playthrough but heavily optimized for speed. I remember learning the Siege Mode tech from ByteMe's GDQ run a few years back and using it in my 2nd playthrough to beat Nightmare. It's one of the most satisfying and powerful-feeling weapons in any game I've played, especially with the Infinite Ammo rune activated. That "HMPH" followed by demons blowing to pieces around that light trail :D
I vastly prefer this game over Eternal. Eternal is good, it's more classic Doom than this game is but overall it's not as fun IMO. Also, Fuck marauders with a capital F, least fun enemy to fight in any game ever.
He has a rune that gives him infinite ammo when he has 100+ armor, and then when he's above 75 when it's upgraded. It's called Rich get Richer. The entire idea is if you're playing the game well enough to avoid damage then you're rewarded with infinite ammo ( except on the BFG )
The quicker you kill things and faster you move, the less you get hit. When you know where the enemies are going to be and have an explicit route through the game with numerous backups, it's not unrealistic to 100% stages in a single life (even in a live, one-try setting).
AGDQ 2024 is live right now! Tune in to watch at www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick
"You're bypassing such an enormous amount of work" love when devs are attending a run

I thought his comments were weird... Right up until I realized he didn't know where he was lmao 😂

You guys were so great! Very entertaining watch
I ENJOY THE RUN LIKE HELL!!!
I enjoyed it very much. Good run, and good humor. =)
You rocked this, man. Hell of a performance
You did a great job! It was an unorthodox setup with Hugo being there. You handled everything with grace 🫶
One of the best runs I ever watched, so impressive, watching one in the harder mode live in agdq has to be nuts. Thanks Raitro_ and agdq for showcasing it!
I love how wholesome Doom runs always are, as someone who remembers the hysteria from parents around the original.
The darker the game, the wholesomer the fandom…90% of the time
So awesome to see DOOM 2016 back at GDQ! Brings me back to ByteMe's legendary run
Dude the runners and commentary killed it. So happy to have Hugo live.
Rip and tear!
Great insights from the speedrunner, couch, and dev.

I've loved seeing so many runs with devs on the couch this year!
Which other games had dev runs?
@@Konraden the Dead Space (2023) by sharkhat87 had a dev in it.
Hugo is a gem. 🙃

One of the best runs i've seen at GDQ. Shout out to the stellar couch and OG Hugo Martin.
I love how much Hugo is involved in his games after they come out
1:09:10 just the "Hello, I have cheerios" in such a violence heavy game is just too funny for me
That’s so cool that Hugo was a part of this!
The reason I came to watch this 😅 love hugo
“I’ll get some coffee, I need it…” Such a cool guy!
I would have loved to hear more stories about the development and about the developers.

Oh man i LOVED the last 100% run. Looking forward to this!

9:35 Her name is Karen, and she's amazing. Tilda Swinton crushed it. Michael Clayton is an underrated movie.
Honestly the amount of time Hugo puts in with the community is amazing.

Amazing Speedrun and Really Funny to Watch :D ♥
I got Cheerios
That was amazing speedrun and one of the hardest that I ever seen
Dev: says something interesting
Runner: yeah ok, I just did an out-of-bounds
Rip and tear
Awesome run! I much prefer this type of run, where people actually play the majority of a first person shooter, instead of skipping 90% of it.
There are „no glitch speedruns“, if you’re interested. =)
we stan a gamer here
Love the shoutout to Byte me during this speed run 💪
Would be interesting to know what went wrong in the run so that the last upgrade was missing. Props to the runner.
2 personnel codices and 1 monster codex as well
Pretty sure it was around hour 30 in the run where he didn't get full combat rating and said he would just continue anyways
missed two of those dead red suit guys that are often tucked away in a corner out of the way
Amazing

Yaaaaaaay!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
1:29:40 lmao
14:45 he respawns before he interacts with the health pod
Anybody knows the setting for 'field of vision' used. Default is 90.
Probably 130
110 or 120 work for me.
the max FOV (120 I believe), allows the most vision of whats around you.
i see Meta
boom!
1:09:00 gotta be my favorite moment
Top tier

black lagoon?
cowboy bebop? xD
i like them very much and there are guns and heros ;p
The glitchrun world freaking record 😎

Raitro sucks
I didnt get it, is it god mode on? He dont wastes ammo and not getting any damage
He dies a few times, he’s totally taking damage sometimes but he’s also good at the game so it looks easier than it is
the game has an "infinite ammo" rune

In a speedrun you cannot use cheats, so no, he's not using god mode, he's just very good at the game.
