@@e.conboy4286 Not really. If you're 100% disabled and married you receive over $42,000 a year plus free medical and dental and prescription drugs for life. All of it tax free. At 50% you get free medical and drugs maybe at 30% disability. I agree if you lose both legs or both ears as an example you get only a 50% rating. I know because I have a service connected disability and I'm a VN vet .The money for lower ratings should absolutely be much more. At 90% you receive only $1880 something per month but anything you need medically you get free including prosthetics.

My grandpa was a WWII veteran and I never got to here any stories about it. I was already in the service when he would finally talk to my dad about the war just before he died. If you ever meet a WWII vet and they are willing to talk to you about their time, sit down and just listen to them. As a combat vet myself, a lot of vets will not talk about the things that they either did or saw while in combat. If you are able to get a war vet to talk to you about it, when they normally would not, you are very privileged to hear the stories. SO if you are young please listen and enjoy the remaining time we have with WWII, Korean and Vietnam vets. To the greatest generation, I want to say thank you.

So now he's 99. Incredible. So glad he's feeling younger and well. May he be blessed with many more years of that feeling. If I'm ever fortunate enough to make it to that age, I could do with half this man's wits and sharpness. He and his story is incredible. God bless.

God Bless You Sir. I have known several American vets and they are my Heros. Thanks for your sacrifices. Im an Okie too and had given my friend Floyd Ziggenfuss a 1921 Morgan silver dollar because that was his birth year. He gave me charred Yen notes from Iwo. These men are tougher than we will ever know. Young interviewer great thing you are doing.
