9:54 i mean, the patch just came out and we barely have information to directly compare it against sumeru full whole ass already fleshed region released, that ain't fair. But i do agree that the hype is lower, the stream was mid at best, there was barely any promotional videos (i mean sumeru had 3 parts apart from the stream showing the landscapes even from following versions even the desert, the reactions and the characters all 3 dedicated videos which is crazy). So i agree the hype is lower because there's much less advertisement, however i enjoyed the exploration MORE than sumeru, it's more rewarding, there's barely any common chest on any fontaine just a few one compared to the sheer amount of luxurius valious and sophisticated chests, the water exploration is just insane one of the few games that implemented fine the water levels, and then the underground maps is just QoL that was really needed in sumeru, you could barely tell where you were, i couldn't even explore properly i had to watch tutorials because the game gave NO information where you are in the underground when exploring.
I agree about the exploration. I wandered around and found many chests but among a couple dozen I found. Only 1 was a common chest (from following a seelie). It just made exploration feel a lot better
@@almightynoob1631 for sure, and that also helps for the fountain too, because sumeru was really hard to level up the dreams tree since most of the chest would give 1 badge while fontaine only costs 30 instead of 35 and most chests already give 2/3 badges, made it really easy and more enjoyable and rewarding.
It is really hard to surpass sumeru, or even get close to it. a Brand new element that totally shaked up the meta, gave us at least 4 different top teams. In Fontain there is almost nothing new to test yet, mono teams like the lynes mono pyro + kazuha are pretty boring koz there are like 4 versions of that team already. I was hyped for Lynette, koz i thought she will be a yelan + kazuha... Well i was pretty wrong so im a bit dissapointed about that too. However today yt recommended me a leak video of Nevilette. Im usually not watching any leaks, but man this was worth it. That characters gameplay looks so different from what we have seen so far in genshin. Now im hyped again, time to do the archon quest :D
@@peterherbel2057 i know it’s hard but that’s the thing didn’t even gave a chance for the region to develop, like, sumeru’s dendro teams didn’t started to shine and develop up until 3.2 where nahida’s released, tighnari was nothing crazy and while dendro traveller was good it wasn’t for burgeon, right after nahida released all those nilou, hyperbloom, burgeon and quicken/quickbloom teams developed, honestly can’t really expect sumeru level when the archon isn’t even out yet, i like to think that you don’t need an element to shake the gameplay, the hp loss mechanic seems really interesting we just need a character (archon) that gives good synergy with the following units, who knows? Maybe lyney isn’t even supposed to play in monopyro and just when the hydro archon releases he’s gonna be able to play in ultra vape teams i’m excited to see what they’ll do 🙏.
I really, really dislike the underwater fight mechanics. Probably the thing I'm most disappointed about. The underwater exploration is well done though and the map update was very well designed.
The first region with proper roads to connect the different cities and it feels great to walk on. It reminds me of the roads at Altus Plateau. I dunno, something about real, proper roads just feels great in an open world game. I fucking love roads.

Its just me or the game become a bit optimize on phone, before 4.0 my old phone is hardly having consistent 60 fps on medium graphics after 4.0 that same phone can actually run highest setting without to much of an issue outside of a bit overheating but still having 50-60 fps smoothly, just wondering if people have the same experience as me
I really liked it so far, the story is amazing, and characters aren't bland as hell as they were in Sumeru. I mean, who in their right mind actually enjoyed Nilou's or Alhaitham's dialogues?
Hype ruins damn near anything. If you expect amazing things you'll never be satisfied. Gotta sit back, keep the information to a minimum and go in day of looking to have a good time, it's what I did and its been some of the best hours I've had playing this. Similarly, it sucks how daily gameplay loops ruin how people feel about a game, makes it a chore to play and ruins the game as a whole. It's really a game I'd consider quitting for 4-5 years and coming back when the game is actually "complete".
I didn't look up any stream or any trailer beside the initial fontaine trailer (I even missed the codes), updated the game and played it for the archon quest only and it's the best patch I've experienced so far.
The Tree of Dreams/Sacred Sakura Tree equivalent for Fontaine isn't locked behind a huge ass quest. Thank the Lords! Also, 6:19 I swear that this boss is close to impossible without having Zhongli's shield or using the Arkhe system. If you don't plan on using/can't use either, your best bet is just to cheese him with a Bow Character from the nearby cliff.
The Archon Quest was... kind of ludicrous, and felt like a child's view of criminal justice. The Traveler gets assigned as Lyney's legal counsel, despite not being qualified and not even being familiar with Fontaine law (which Yanfei warned us is complex in her birthday mail). Traveler personally knows two skilled lawyers, but just silently nods and plays along when told he's now an attorney.
That's because they don't allow involved persons to leave the place? And a trial literally begins a day after Idk I rather find your argument to be more ludicrous and stupid tbh
@@sidl12400 Therein lies the problem: they locked down the entire scene, permitted no one to leave, and began a trial in 24 hours or less. Do you have any idea how long an actual criminal investigation takes, let alone all the court bureaucracy involved? Its based on the ability you use. The highest damaging one is the one from the stingray which one shots almost everything. The crab(?) one is for defense and destruction (it gains destructive power if you get hit while charging it). The seal one seems to be used for scanning
I feel the same about the "disappontment". I think ot's just because explration has become so simple and easy that is not so rewarding. It's really something to do when you want to relax. Just a Yelan skill and everybody is dead... so boring man
goes two ways though, hoyo wants to keep a wide audience which includes super casual players who don't want to be challenged too much by exploration content so they kept it simple
Ah yes we need harder puzzles and stronger enemies, SURELY we didn't had a region in the past that is(arguably) most hated region to explore for its annoying/difficult puzzles and strong enemies. Glad that this region isn't inazuma 2.0. Hope it won't change.
There's a reason why it became so simple. Inazuma is actually the first time they tried to have difficulty spikes in a new region, and we all know how much people complain alot about it. And since then, they dumbed down the sumeru and Fontaine puzzle and exploration for the masses. So yeah, people sucked that's why.
@@ymw1107 yeah, the majority of the fanbase of this game sucks ass, and with that they only spoil the fun for the rest of us. Can't have shit in Teyvat.
Fontaine is good, but it’s nothing new. Sumeru was very novel in the way it approached middle eastern culture but we’ve seen everything that fontaine has to offer before. A city where the rich live on top and the poor live on the bottom? A countryside? Steampunk robots? We’ve seen it all before.
That artifact was brutal. Also, laughed hard at the aquabus part. So far, not a big fan of the Archon quest. Lyney is cool, but the Hydro Archon seems like a total brat. She's annoying. Nahida is so much better in personality. I hope she gets better, but first impressions of the Hydro Archon are not good.
Zajef77 is whining about the game again, huge shocker. I used to think he was criticizing it fairly but at this point it's just plain frustrating. Feels like another mtashed situation.
In oticed that if you pump alot of exp in one click. like enough for 16 or 20 lvl. Rolls tend to flow into one stat at once. Wich could be a cope, but happens way too often, so if i see the potential in art i just max it in one click, and its either all went into one shit stat or into one good one, wich is IMO better then "half good half bad, mid, nowhere to use" artifact.
@spidebot3045 if anything is just once, if lvl 18 is too bad (what a lvl 20 gets you) I won't even go for the 20. I've reached a point where I have more XP than I have good artifacts
It just feels underwhelming because of how big sumeru is compared to fontaine, I think everything about fontaine is better for me than sumeru so far including the story except there isnt asmuch exploration
I feel then 'dissapointing' part. It's not bad but the refion feels a lot like mondstadt visualy, so kind of boring. The underwater combat is just meeh. Some of the caves are nice visually but most of them feel so empty. I hope the later fontaine region will have a more unique design. I never forget when i first came to sumeru and flew through the air, it was so cool and had such a nice atmosphere, and while the desert looks boring at the end, the caves where still interesting and it just fit. I'm missing all that. I also don't understand why we don't have waverider points in the country of water. Why don't we have more technology everywhere, it could have been a great way to improve exploring. The only thing i realy like so far is the new dancing boss. / sorry for the ramble but the first impression was mid.
Wdym, "We don't have Waverider Points in the county of water?" There are 3 in the region currently which is about the same as one Island from Inazuma. Unless, of course, you're saying that there should be way more Waverider Points.
i’m surprised theory crafters can enjoy this game so much. i’m a combat-centric player but it’s literally pointless to dive so deep into the small details of genshin s combat when you can undermine even floor 12 by brute forcing. seems like a waste of time and his efforts are better elsewhere, but ik he’s gotta get the bread somehow
Yes, I mirror your impression 100%. First off, I also got literally stuck and couldn't do anything. After about a minute of jumping around in the place that stuck me, I was able to "plop" out of it. As for disappointment: For me it's more so just being wholly underwhelmed by the region. It feels like they used up way too much of their resources to the underwater sections, only to end up with an extremely repetitive and limited gameplay loop that takes up over half of the available exploration. The characters are cool, but that's pretty much the only thing I'm looking forward to in the upcoming versions of Fontaine. As for the archon quest: It's... Interesting, but not amazing.
I was never all that hype for Fontaine. None of the characters so far look all that interesting, and the Archon Quest in Sumeru was the best we've had so far in a way that I doubt Fonatine will top (but who knows, haven't played it yet). I ended up finishing the Ann World Quest which I started completely by accident and it was alright, but nothing crazy. And I'm not sure if I'll get attatched to the Melusines like I was the Aranara. So far, I've unlocked every waypoint except one that I assume will unlock with the Archon Quest. Exploration underwater is fun and all, but being on mobile, doing time challenges is a pain in the ass, so it's not as fun as it could be if the controls were better. I won't write off Fontaine yet, I didn't expect to like Sumeru as much as I did and it ended up being up there with Liyue for my favorite region so far after we got characters like Nilou, Cyno, Layla, and Faruzan. I'll wait too see what pops up later on down the line.
@@Ivy-jq6di I'll take it with a grain of salt until I play it myself. @@Ivy-jq6diit's really good, but I wouldn't say it's better than sumeru act 5 atm. It's definitely better than the previous act of sumeru, but yeah we still have act 3 to 5 of Fontaine to expect, so hopefully they kept this quality up next patch.
Lol, I did the first thing at the boiling lake. Overall I'm also a bit meh about fontaine so far. The actually scenery is really cool. I like the new enemies. The overall aesthetic and the city are great. I do like some of the quests. However, the first archon quest was really unenjoyable to me. I hate, hate, hate their bs gamemodes where you have to "figure things out" in a guided format. It was like during that interest dream reset quest when you had to try to sneak by people but it is a very forced line in very limited gameplay. I also really dislike underwater combat so far. I've long said this game is a cross between the open world of breath of the wild and the combat feel of kingdom hearts. In the first kingdom hearts when you fight underwater the combat system didn't feel gimpy as hell.
Underwater combat is so fkin dogshit made me instantly quit the game. Imagine removing the best part of your game for 50% of the map. Also makes pointless the 3 years of building characters. The game is getting worse with each passing patch, legit unbelieveable.

My strongbox experience so far in 4.0 has been terrible, emblem luck is carrying forward
I actually got a 40 CV Hydro Damage bonus on an emblem goblet, even along with some HP%, strongbox is a blessing
I built up a strong 4 set husk for Noelle with all the artifacts I had saved up
i got a 42cv electo goblet on emblem for raiden... after strongboxed 300+ pieces
I felt that. I rolled 530+ artifacts and got one 40CV piece
idk about everyone else, but i LOVED the archon quest, i just finished act 1 and i love lyney and lynette even more now
zajej just to let you know the archon quest (although its very cutscene focused) is actually extremely good i played both acts yesterday and was really impressed, it's very fun with a lot more interaction than we've had before and the story is honestly great id say its significantly better than sumeru which imo was the best until now, so yeah id say that was a big focus and that might be why exploration is mid
Yea archon quest carried fontaine cuz the exploration kinda sucks for me
sacrificing exploration for better story in an open world game is not a good trade LMFAO
@@lukio3935the open world also not bad tho?No anoyying world quest gated experience
@@lukio3935 nobody said that it was an excuse for bad exploration, i literally just said its clear they cared more about the archon quest

I better get my big primo buck in events and quests, get my boner from good archon quest and then play something else for all of my free time.
Everyone has their cup of tea i guess, i really like fontaine exploration, and definitely more then sumeru
I love how his mannerisms change because of his suit
The first region with proper roads to connect the different cities and it feels great to walk on.
It reminds me of the roads at Altus Plateau. I dunno, something about real, proper roads just feels great in an open world game.
I fucking love roads.
That artifact roll, damn! I got an 'Electro Dmg' Golden Troupe piece which had double crit. It saw the same fate as above goblet.
LMAOOOO HIS SCREECH AT THE PYRO GOBLET
the archon quest IS really insane lol, at least imo, I hope you'll like it too.
That one time, when they controlled the camera is part of a quest tho. ;P
Sucks he's too blind to see the literal text on the screen saying it's a quest
Oh, so that's how I look when I keep rolling flat def?
I’ve completed 3 world quest, unlocked all teleport wavepoints, finished the current event before even starting the Archon quest
8:36 These chests got me every time as well
Do you want to see a magic trick?
1:39 now you see me
1:42 now you don't
First day farming the new domain I get pyro goblet with double crit, EM and ER. Rolls two low rolls into crit rate and then EM and ER...seriously F this game man.
How is this man already disliking Fontaine? Literally huh
The land portion is dreadfully empty. You'd expect more mobs to fight, or chests to find.
Its just me or the game become a bit optimize on phone, before 4.0 my old phone is hardly having consistent 60 fps on medium graphics after 4.0 that same phone can actually run highest setting without to much of an issue outside of a bit overheating but still having 50-60 fps smoothly, just wondering if people have the same experience as me
The fact I got the same thing on a goblet for Wriothesley is painful
I really liked it so far, the story is amazing, and characters aren't bland as hell as they were in Sumeru. I mean, who in their right mind actually enjoyed Nilou's or Alhaitham's dialogues?
Haytham the best character in genshin 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah i hate sumeru characters fontaine is better
furina was entertaining as hell. ceo of yappington inc.
Nilou story quest was sh*t, like literal garbage. As for alhaitum, I mean i will pass him on his story even tho it was also just meh...
Nilou is the epitome of art
Hype ruins damn near anything. If you expect amazing things you'll never be satisfied. Gotta sit back, keep the information to a minimum and go in day of looking to have a good time, it's what I did and its been some of the best hours I've had playing this. Similarly, it sucks how daily gameplay loops ruin how people feel about a game, makes it a chore to play and ruins the game as a whole. It's really a game I'd consider quitting for 4-5 years and coming back when the game is actually "complete".
I didn't look up any stream or any trailer beside the initial fontaine trailer (I even missed the codes), updated the game and played it for the archon quest only and it's the best patch I've experienced so far.
the archon quest is insane, trust
4:38 Copium Drip onwards
Nooooo Zajef your camera was fine, you were supposed to help the girl rearange the scene by picking up the lamp thingy 😭😭😭

Underwhelmed. We feel underwhelmed by Fontaine.
Who's we?
Zajef and I, at least?
He was searching for a word in the vein of "disappointed".
Vivianne of the lake>>>>>>>Raiden boss
The Tree of Dreams/Sacred Sakura Tree equivalent for Fontaine isn't locked behind a huge ass quest. Thank the Lords!
Also, 6:19 I swear that this boss is close to impossible without having Zhongli's shield or using the Arkhe system. If you don't plan on using/can't use either, your best bet is just to cheese him with a Bow Character from the nearby cliff.
Idk how I beat it then because he died within like 30 seconds and I didn't even know what I was doing. I just attacked... 🤷♂️
Nice goblet roll sadge
He complains a LOT
Doesn't he...

I'm taking a break from GI to work on BG 3. Have fun in Fontaine y'all
I don't speak French but I did it at school and it annoys me they don't have the accents. No wonder I am struggling to pronounce some of these...
not overwhelming and underwhelming its just... whelming....?
That was hilarious 😂😂 love it
The Archon Quest was... kind of ludicrous, and felt like a child's view of criminal justice.
And a trial literally begins a day after
Idk I rather find your argument to be more ludicrous and stupid tbh
@@sidl12400 Therein lies the problem: they locked down the entire scene, permitted no one to leave, and began a trial in 24 hours or less. Do you have any idea how long an actual criminal investigation takes, let alone all the court bureaucracy involved? This entire scenario was too conveniently isolated and too conveniently hasty to be anything but a thinly veiled excuse to make us play a copycat Phoenix Wright scene.
Again: the Archon Quest was a childlike perspective of criminal justice, wildly oversimplified to the point of being incredulous.
In short? Sit down, kiddo.
@@sonadowfiend And now you bring up real life investigation lmao what a joke clown
@@sonadowfiend damn, I didn't know a pseudo primitive world such as tevyat was meant to be a sociological critique and accurate documentary on the legal proceedings found in the real world 🤔
I swear man most 4 liner double crit pieces are such a tease. At most you get 3 rolls of crit hitting the worst stat at least twice. Never trust the 4 liner double crit.
Idk i like 4.0 way more then 3.0 just because i am able to run around and do staff i want while not being forced to do world quest to be able to do half of puzzles just like it was with aranaras. So I that way I can do world quests when I am in a mood for it
My experience with the train was literally the same
I knew when he went to go roll it, you kept the clip going, and he didn't level it up really high with some recycled artifact. I knew this would be a slow descent in to flat def. What else could it have been?

Those rolls... fack..
Wtf is that goblet
shit
omg mr zajeff
L puzzles too
why is the geo popular again, or I missed something ?
does anyone know how does the damage you deal in water work, what affects it??
Its based on the ability you use. The highest damaging one is the one from the stingray which one shots almost everything. The crab(?) one is for defense and destruction (it gains destructive power if you get hit while charging it). The seal one seems to be used for scanning
@@Odyssey__ yeah ik that just wandered if the laso thingy can get better
@@JarmaraL I don't think so. It's meant for puzzles and picking up the powers, so it doesn't need to be good
I feel the same about the "disappontment".
Bruh I am glad that it was easy. Exploration feels fun again instead of a chore.
@@ymw1107 yeah, the majority of the fanbase of this game sucks ass, and with that they only spoil the fun for the rest of us. Can't have shit in Teyvat.

Swap Liyue with Inazuma and it's perfect
Keeping the zip ⭐ just in Sumeru was a horrible decision
Why did they make the LGBT roses so hard to find I NEED TO LEVEL MY LYNEY
Oh man, I did the same thing with Kazuha and the bus lmao

Fontaine is good, but it’s nothing new. Sumeru was very novel in the way it approached middle eastern culture but we’ve seen everything that fontaine has to offer before.
A city where the rich live on top and the poor live on the bottom? A countryside? Steampunk robots? We’ve seen it all before.
+ underwater scenery was mediocre at best, feels very uninspired
That artifact was brutal. Also, laughed hard at the aquabus part.
So far, not a big fan of the Archon quest. Lyney is cool, but the Hydro Archon seems like a total brat. She's annoying. Nahida is so much better in personality. I hope she gets better, but first impressions of the Hydro Archon are not good.
he listen to hamilton k
Zajef77 is whining about the game again, huge shocker. I used to think he was criticizing it fairly but at this point it's just plain frustrating. Feels like another mtashed situation.
this is why I level up my artifacts to 18-20 in one go lol I HATE multiple horrible rolls lol
@vinniegret4841 yeah haha I think that's cope, because I've gotten "All tho a shitty star" or spread or even all too good stats doing this
Farm archon quest
maybe if you finally decide to play with decent graphics settings you'll be able to appreciate the beauty of this region.
Wdym, "We don't have Waverider Points in the county of water?"
There are 3 in the region currently which is about the same as one Island from Inazuma. Unless, of course, you're saying that there should be way more Waverider Points.
This is leagues better than Sumeru, Sumeru exploration was so annoying I almost quit the game.
i’m surprised theory crafters can enjoy this game so much.
i’m a combat-centric player but it’s literally pointless to dive so deep into the small details of genshin s combat when you can undermine even floor 12 by brute forcing.
seems like a waste of time and his efforts are better elsewhere, but ik he’s gotta get the bread somehow
Interesting, but not amazing.
same, Sumeru left a better first impression than Fontaine for me in terms of story and exploration.
Floptaine
General popular consensus is that Fontaine archon quest is better than Sumeru's archon quest thus far.
@@Ivy-jq6di I'll take it with a grain of salt until I play it myself. Genshin fandom tends to hype up everything new without really thinking critically about whether or not it's actually good just because it's new. Lots of people hyped up Inazuma initially and now everyone pretends they always disliked it now that disliking it is generally the more popular opinion.
It's a refreshing change of tone but quite good and the characters are growing on me
@@Ivy-jq6diit's really good, but I wouldn't say it's better than sumeru act 5 atm.
It's definitely better than the previous act of sumeru, but yeah we still have act 3 to 5 of Fontaine to expect, so hopefully they kept this quality up next patch.
@@GuranPurinFontaine act1 and 2 are really better than sumeru's tho.
Man, the salt is real, huh?
@@StanleyG23 what salt, I'm just telling facts.
@@nymphaliss Last time I checked, opinions weren't facts.
You build your characters for abyss tho, in open world everything dies instantly. And underwater is for exploration. Plus even combat is ok and you deal a lot of damage underwater if you read how to do it right it takes seconds to kill everything so I don't see why are you complaining
@@Undertaker-kj4fe you don't build characters for abyss, otherwise there wouldn't be a necessity for the WL system. You do not deal a lot of damage underwater, stop coping.
