I'm not a fan of Jost. I've always been a Fontaine NO Slack 2 guy.
I got a new to me day cab wet kit truck with a blockable air slide Holland 48" high at the top plate I like it. Still trying to figure out the weight difference per pin on the Holland. I like running it all the way forward. The Fontaine was 500 lbs a hole. So I'd run it 2 to 3 holes forward of center. I'd run it closer but have swing clearance issues. So 11,500 lbs was all I could get on the IHC with Fontaine. I would love to do what I call a Schneider Bob to the rear frame horns.
Its on their container trucks. They chopped of the rear of the frame back to the rear cross member on the airbag of the last axle. Then the mud flaps are bolted to diagonal brackets mounted to the rear cross member. Helps get the steer axle to 12000 lbs. Most my loads are 40 ft boxes. And up to 47000 lbs plus box and chassis.
Now to get a JBHUNT style neck with a shallow kingpin on a 40 ft chassis.
    That's for another discussion.

How much weight can be saved by going with a fixed mount, low or flat aluminum 5th wheel?
We're pulling a tank and the perch is too tall causing to much weight on the tandems.
Also, do you know how much weight can be saved by going from duals to super singles?

What would be recommended so I can run full fenders on my truck with a flatbed? I wanna have plenty of clearance so I won't risk hitting my trailer when turning.

I bought rig used from Ritchie bros, the 5th wheel, I would say is a high profile 5th wheel. I hate how it sits. I mainly how dry van. Sometimes I would pull a 40 foot bottom dump. Most of the time dry van. The truck looks like one of the yard jockeys with it point up to the sky. From what I see I have the older Holland 5th wheel, it’s a right side release. How can I make my 5th wheel to a low profile and maybe switch it over to a left side release?

      Good morning,
With Old style holland you would have to have a welding ship fabricate low legs or replace the whole fifth wheel and slide with new style low legs

@@4StateTrucks ahhh I see. Probably a whole new 5th wheel assembly would be my best bet huh?

Is it possible to go from a stationary fifth wheel to air slide fifth wheel??

    • @4StateTrucks
      @4StateTrucks  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

@jebiga5650 Yes it is. The complete 5th wheel and base have to be changed and a switch and air line installed in dash and ran back to 5th wheel.

I have a 2016 Peterbilt 579 and the trailer broke my mud flaps 🤬. I was told the fifth wheel needed to be center and to my surprise my 2016 Peterbilt does not have adjustable fifth wheel what the ***^# Peterbilt really

      No,
All will last nearly 1,000, 000 miles, before rebuild or replacement is needed
Holland is BY FAR the most popular and easiest to find parts for though.
      Thank you!
