I have the Blackbox and like it; I just wish it had more options for mastering. Giving us full access to the compressor and maybe a master distortion would be so amazing

@@KonorJames that would be awesome! Definitely would be interested in seeing more effects and controls

This is really nice, great use of the slicer 😊 - 9:41 you should be able to adjust the volume of the hats by using the slider on the right as you record...but that needs a fair bit of dexterity 😂

Thanks! I managed to pull that off at 22:20 with the horn lol

Great video. Question: does the black box have nudge, repeat/ stutter and swing? Your opinion on workflows between the blackbox or lo-fi 12xt.

hey! great questions. Blackbox does have nudge controls for recording and moving steps off grid. there is also a swing setting which affects all notes in your sequence. I don't think there is a stutter/repeat control, although you could get that kind of effect by setting a tight loop point on a sample which would sound like a roll.
The BB has an interesting workflow - you have lots of controls over sample playback (loop mode, modulating parameters, envelope) and the waveform display is superb. But i think it was designed as more of a clip launcher/looper that you can record perfectly sync'd loops into. And the sequencer is not great - you'll probably end up fighting the touchscreen a lot to make changes you want.
I think the lofi12XT has a better workflow because of all the dedicated hardware buttons that give you the ability to edit notes and make changes to parameters. Plus playing the pads is way more fun that the BB's touchscreen piano. But with the lofi, you're stuck with a tiny display, mono samples in 24 or 12Khz, no more than 15 slices per sample, little stuff like that. Just my opinion though!

Excellent tutorial and great jam towards the end! It cleared up a lot of doubts I had. Thank you :)
Do you work with loops of different tempo/lengths? If so, it'd be great to understand your workflow on that front

@@adavidalex212 thanks for watching! I do not work with loops much - mostly I slice samples or play one shots. However the blackbox does have a bpm sync feature that can help loops play at the same tempo!
