Hi, I’m japanese and I really like their artworks. Particularly I love “please be nice” more than any Midwest emo musics. Don’t get me wrong.I mean please be nice is the first one I’ve ever listened in my life.I wish Camping in Alaska became popular among Japanese as well. Anyway I really thank to you for making this video.😊
Please be nice is a good first album! I hope so as well. They are getting ready to put out more music so stay tuned! I'm happy you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching!
Im glad you feel that attachment to a band so far away.. I've always loved Jappaneese punk music. It's inspiring that music can trandsend distance and time. My bands dream is to play a tour in Japan, if that day ever comes, I hope to see you in the crowd my friend.
im central american, i discovered this band on youtube while ignoring my teacher on computer class when i was in high school. i feel like i found it just at the right time
This made me so happy that someone is finally covering a band that deserves all the recognition they've been getting as of late. I remember meeting Austin in high school (he was a grade above me) and thinking "this guy is something special" I didn't actually listen to them until after high school because I was somewhat sheltered but going back and listening I can't help but be proud that friends of mine from my hometown made such beautiful music together that people all over the world have heard. Good job with this video!!
"All over the world" Hell yeah, I live in a small city in Colombia South America and I just joined the barely existant emo scene here (for now :D). Camping in Alaska are a big inspiration
Haha thanks for reaching out! I wish I could add to the video itself without reuploading. I plan to do a follow up video when more material comes out. :) love the new material you guys recently put out!
i found this band in 7th grade. i used to skate through a parking lot with a bunch of hills listening to please be nice. specifically “i just want to kickflip into the sun and disappear”. and “C U in da ballpit” so many good times listening to this band. it’s nostalgic every time i listen to them. they will forever have a place in my heart. ❤️
Hell yeah! Proud to know this man and play with the drummer in Obed-Edom. please be nice continues to amaze and soothe me even well into my 30s. I love hearing my boys, and it's really special seeing how big of an impact their music and soul has on people outside of our little Alabama town. I really, really appreciate this video.
Great video man. Its crazy such a pinnacle of midwest emo never even toured. To me its like a local bands fantasy. They played for a while, wrote some awesome music played a couple local shows, threw a few videos up on you tube then just kinda fizzled out only to have thier music completely blow up on line and become a staple of emo known worldwide. These guys should realize that this is a fantasy of many diy musicians come to life and how amazingly blessed they are. A resurgence now would be a genius move and a damn near guaranteed comeback success story. If I owned a record label I'd be all over these guys begging for a reunion and if I were these guys I'd be working my ass off perfecting my live show and preparing for the resurgence of a lifetime!!!! Cuz i honesty feel if they want it, its there for the taking. Maybe start with a comeback announcment and live performance at Furnest Fest 2023 or 24.
@@campinginalaska my dudes it was so apparent to me. Im soo fucking glad I called this one lol. Just stay humble and never forget what you have. Its an opportunity to achieve what millions of kids could only dream of and an opportunity they would kill for. Its in your hands my dudes!!!
Just came across this channel after surfing for more Camping in Alaska. Thank you for the "insight" on what they are all really about. It also brought me to appreciate more of their music than just Please be Nice, which changed my life. But thank you for showing me some of Austin's story and how it came to be.
One of the best Southern Emo bands to ever do it. Talk to Austin a handful of times in the midwest emo group on fb back in the day and he was always super cool. Massive guitar influence for me despite stepping way from emo revival/midwest emo(im from the midwest) music
Camping in Alaska is hugely inspirational to me as an artist, and they had a pretty big impact on my band as well, hell, we were covering one of their songs for a while. Pretty awesome band
I was a little late to the emo genre, but these guys were one of the first bands that I really attached to. It was even cooler to find out that they were from Alabama, as well. Got to see them in Atlanta a few months back. Super solid show and everyone there was on the same page like I haven't seen at another show. Just like, hearing everyone start singing "c u in da ballpit" while they were tuning up was just nuts. They've really inspired the band that I'm in and I'd love to open for them, one day.
I watched this video so many times but last night I finally got to see them at 924 Gilman in Berkeley CA for the first time for the please be nice 10 year anniversary tour and they were amazing and everything I wished for
Half the reason i like Please Be Nice over say Bathe for example is because the audio quality. Bathe sounds like shit compared to Please Be Nice. Idk how their demo/ep/whatever managed to be recorded and mixed better than their "debut album". I would've rerecorded it entirely under those circumstances
bathe is really good raw powerpop with some emo sprinkled in. camping in alaska fans have every right to not like it but as a fan of the bands bathe sounds like, it fucks.
his despair over the post please be nice stuff is weird to me because everyone ive ever played music with was in a band for each day of the week that were as drastically different as possible. you'd have black metal guys in the same room as rappers just because of how few people in town were creative. just make a band called the francis bacons and don't market it to twinkle fans austin i'll listen to it. i'll follow you to hell.

I am very proud to say my nephew is a member of the band now. He tells me the tour they are on now is going great.
Oooh fuck yeah! I just saw the got back together, wish him the best of luck for me, Camping in Alaska was a huge part of my influence as a drummer

Legends
Thank you for putting them on hard ❤ ill never forget

wow I went to highschool with like everyone in that first shot.
All time favorite band, so sad it didnt blow up
I have a feeling that Eggbeater Jesus is going to be a LEGENDARY album. Especially after hearing Icarus.

Thank you dude! It's real cool you knew the boys. I feel the same way about Jack Senff of Merchant Ships and William Bonney.
I think I read some shit a long time ago about how he always brought his guitar to school, is this true? Lol

I seen them live and they and there music is even more beautiful in person
Good good stuff stuff, right here. Always wondered more about them.

My sons name is Austin David that’s funny I love this band I never knew I can lie and say I named him after him.
I listened to Please Be Nice almost every day in 2016 during my senior year of HS. Such a good album.
Really hoping to go see these guys in Birmingham come September this year 😭🖤🖤🖤
Bathe is the highlight of their catalog to me
I'm so happy CIA is on Spotify now, this video is a pure fire exclamation point on the resurgence of one of my favorite bands ever of all
They recently were on a podcast and talked about their beginnings and how members met and the initial roster formed
More to the lore! Good to know also, I may link the podcast to the description of the video.
Where’s the podcast??
Whoa...I never thought I'd see a documentary about this band. Good shit
I just saw them two days ago best show ever..
I watched this video so many times but last night I finally got to see them at 924 Gilman in Berkeley CA for the first time for the please be nice 10 year anniversary tour and they were amazing and everything I wished for
Did they play the entire album from to back?
discovered them last year and bought please be nice on vinyl! :D
Damn I'm glad someone made this video
Happy you enjoyed it!
Great freaking job !! This video has been needed
Great band
I love the demo of "why can't i be snowing?"
I stg if this existed while I was in high school I’d lose it
Amazingly well done video, thank you!
A Midwest emo video essay channel? This is everything I could’ve ever wanted
You never mentioned “c u in da ballpit” man
CAMPING IN ALASKA IS FUCKING AMAZING

HAHA either I'm going to be making up a bunch of stuff or making a two minute video.
Can we have story of AGE SIXTEEN? They were one of my favorite bands
I will look into them :)

Do you know if they ever toured? If they didn't I think they might be the all time most popular emo band to never tour
ya know, I don't think they ever went on a tour. I'm surprised they didn't get signed after PBN.
@@KazonYT i read a two to three year old comment today saying they wanted to go on tour once Eggbeater Jesus was released
