I must say I love how the Star-Spangled Banner was sung and played before the modern renditions of Beyoncé and other modern singers were sung in some recent inaugurals. I like it best when it's played in a solemn and stately way.

This is not even the U.S national anthem!
So what is the national anthem of the United States? Before 1931, the national anthem of the United States was Hail Columbia, only after 1931 until now it was replaced by The Star Spangled Banner. Try watching it until it's finished first :)
1931 and 1789 was no real music
Before 1931 there was no _official_ anthem. “Hail Columbia” was one of many popular songs used as an unofficial anthem up to that point.
