I purchased Urban Echo, and am having trouble installing it. I’m trying to install it without using MPC software on a PC or Mac, but using only the MPC LIVE II stand alone unit, an SD card, and the extracted zip file contents. The thumbnail doesn’t show up in the expansions tab. (Using firmware 2.10) Thoughts?

My favorite expansions are the ones that are instrument-specific. I like having as many key groups to choose from as possible. I got my start in band class, reading music, so that is the root and kind of where I like to start.
This is where Akai disappoints, these packs are great if you’re into hip hop, soul, (new or old) R&B, urban etc…. There’s pretty much nothing if you’re into any other genre. Yes, I know MPC samplers are classic hip hop beat machines, but Everyone (techno heads, house producers, industrial fans. ME!….) need expansion packs as well!
I am very old school from the 60's /70's rock and pop psych, perhaps make a killing selling some packs eh as nothing around for us oldies, please advise

i never got into new jack swing as a dj but it was fresh at the time and theres no denying teddy riley / jam / lewis etc made a whole scene out of just a simple idea it was an amazing time in music

Do sounds get recycled between packs? Some examples: Premier Beats, Nu Skillz, Raw Cuts, Raw Crates all seem pretty similar. I would hate to order a few of the more expensive ones and find out they just shuffle wavs around. Same concern with Gold Dust and how the description namedrops Jetset, Raw Cuts, and Snipe Young... Is it just recycling their individual packs?

Download the MPC DAW software and expansions and install on your desktop. Export from the MPC software on the desktop to an SD card (File menu, it will create a folder "Expansions"). Plug the SD card into your MPC one, and you can start using them straight away. They also have an expansion builder tool if you want to make your own from samples!

You know that MPC software has an expansion builder within it right ? I use to buy these kit now I make my own the same as the people that make these . I build the kits by chopping drums and sounds from old records sometimes from producers like dr. Dre or timberland. I’ve compared my sounds with the ones from drums that knock and mine are cleaner . I’ve built 4 MPC expansion packs .

Check the stock sounds. In the search type “tr-909”, “tr-606”, or “linn drum”. All electronic songs used those drum machine and they’re all on the MPC.
hi ave, if i load mpc beats daw within fl studio and i preview i.e. a kick, then my master channel in fl mixer goes above 0 db sometimes with some kicks, but if i drag the same kick onto a pad, it cuts around -3 db, like a limiter or softclipper. Is there any limiter on the pads and not on the preview? Hope you understand me or sombody can explain. Greets

I am new to the MPC. I mainly drive my external synths with the unit. My problems with the stock expansions packs: I am really not in to sounds with that much signature in them. I am looking for expansions that makes full use of the AKAI format. In other words, multi-layered drum single shots (dry or wet) that make full use of all 4 samples slots of a key in a drum or key-group and nothing more. I am not looking for catchy musical phrases, cheesy hooks and melodies and what not.. Most of the multi layered instrument that came with the unit contain 1 or 2 layers. I do understand that AKAI is managing the size of the the stock content but they sound too weak to my taste.. Lifeless, stale, no dynamic. Can any one recommend a website where I can find quality expansion packs? I'm in to DnB, NeuroFunk, PsyDub, PsyTrace Techno, Deep-House etc, in short E+IDM. . I feel like I have to remove have of the that stock expansions that came with the mpc.

Hey man, I just bought the SoulProvider 2 after watching your vid from the site you linked. After purchase all it gave me was the option to DL the Mac or PC install files. After I DLed the Mac file and clicked to install, I see no trace of the expansion or standalone files. Can you help me in finding where everything went to?

I don't agree because it's the same sound designers who make sounds for both companies.... In case you didn't know.... Besides, I can use all NI's expansions on the MPC the exact same way thanks to Grayson.
@@AveMcree I know Ave. I use the NI samples with my mpc x and ableton etc. But maybe its the frequency of the releases that I think NI have better packs. There are some packs on NI that Akai can't touch. For instance Street Swarm, Dj Khalid, Sierra Groove.
I've owned the Mpc X for 3 years now and it just sit in my studio... I don't understand any of it, those expansion pack samples...what do you do with em? You can't get a seamless loop, I'm not into hip-hop anyway so it just sit there collecting dust as I use my fast and reliable TS-10.
@@fredtillman3050 I just bought an MPC X two weeks back after working solely on Logic for the last ten years and it is a learning curve for sure but if you get stuck in you'll be glad. Check out a channel called 'Tubedigga' for in-depth tutorials. I've made a couple of solid beats now.
