I have recently been impressed with a lot of pops tracks coming out. And every time i hear a groove that i just have to learn.... i search the song and find out it is Ash who has been playing on all these great tracks. Ash you kill~!
fair enough, i guess i just like shitty snare sounds. being that your name is "funkaholik", (and please forgive me in advance if i'm wrong for this is a assumption) you're probably more into a snare drum with the batter head cranked up extremely high. i, personally, hate super tight snare drums. i'd rather listen to a drum production with a nice fat sounding snare drum, that fills a lot of space, than listen to a drum production with a highly cranked snare drum that sits in it's own little world in the mix. but hey, don't listen to me, i actually LOVE a lot of records with extremely horrible drum production and poorly tuned drums(i.e. tons of punk records and really raw black metal). besides, i am pretty damn sure this is all just a matter of opinion and personal preference. welp, i will now proceed to "get outta here"! b'byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Hi Mr. Soan! I got your drums at home! With the EZDrummer2 UK Pop EZX!!! Really nice! I love the 7x12" Gretsch Purpleheart. Thanks for providing all those beautiful instruments. I am a hobby prog-/metal drummer with a acoustic set in the band rehearsal room actually, but due to the virus and some other coincidences I came to eDrums, and for me it's great. I can be much more creative. Switching from heavy processed death metal drum mixes to your warm and full sounding samples. I also like the EZX Big Rock Drums and The Classics. Greetings from Germany!
Thank God, i discovered you! youve got some serious skills man. i totally dig ur groovy beats cuz it sounds and feels maybe even taste, funky fresh for real (haha that came off just a tad weird) i love fusion jazz and so my first drum hero is Jimmy Chamberlin of The Smashing Pumpkins and you Sir ive now listed as my second drum hero, a new added source of insperation. i like ur style of approach on creating ur beats and patterns which might seem easy and simple to do upon looking is actually quite technical when listen closely but then your fluidity when playing makes it look so effortless. Your groovy beat structures and flow is both crisp and tightly pocketted. The dynamics of ur style and ur skill of playing compliments the senses of look listen and feel is nothing but amazing.
slave to the rhythm example , while it doesn't have ghost notes , is similar to what Jeff did because Jeff would often drop his bass drum with the backbeat when playing his halftime shuffle
Thanks for all the positive comments on my playing and sound.
what is your opinion on ludwig or premier drums ash?
Ludwig is better!
Ngakak Guling Ludwig is better
shuffle groove is a beautiful legacy. Thanks Ash for bring it for us

I often wonder - when was the last time Ash heard the click track in his headphones? It's probably been years as he's so incredibly tight. Love it!
Ash has such a great feel and groove
Oh man this guy is a great musician!

Most people are born in a hospital. Ash was born in a groovy deep pocket.
Awesome breakdown of the groove, helped a ton!

They're circa 1969 A's Yard.

I couldn't fit my phone in that pocket it so tight!
:50 - 1:12 is pure bliss.
notice how fat his snare drums sounds ...such a refreshing change from the tight crack i hear all the time ..so tired of a cracking snare drum
Reading this comment 3 years later is so funny because now EVERYTHING is a fat snare!
LOL now every snare sounds like a wet fart
Wow, who knew David Beckham was also an amazing drummer? J/K, great stuff Ash.
+1 !!
Hello Ash, is there a better tuning for snare to play this rhythm?
