It’s fun to play around with pedal order. Most people say put the wah or auto-wah before the dirt pedal(s). But while I like it there, I also like it the other way around. So my Auto-Wah/envelope filter sits between 2 distortion pedals, so I can do it either way, or both. If I only had one dirt pedal I’m not sure where I’d put it, as I like both.
Nice board mate, very professional, when I was in a gigging band I had all my pedals loose in an old tape cassete case covered in band stickers, wired with a daisy chain. I'd put the crybaby out to the side, and had two fuzz pedals for my gain stages lol, I had no idea what I was doing, but it made one hell of a racket! Feedback for days through my Gretsch hahaha!

Really need to get my pedalboard in order. Even though I use four different multi effects units I do have some individual pedals I use as well. Namely my vintage Arion phaser and delay pedals, a fuzz, three different looper pedals and a tuner. Really need to get it done. Thanks for the motivation.
When I was in high school, I had an Ibanez CS9 stereo chorus, it was my favorite pedal, unfortunately I was an idiot and sold it later only to now regret it.
Nope, it's the MAIN tool for the professional musician, in fact, your main tool is to use double EQ, one is pre-preamp/saturations, the other is post-preamp, first place in your effects loop... I actually consider that what you need is at least a 4 xhannels tube preamp with ideally, a 2x30 bands programmable analog graphic EQ like the KN3600. Billy Gibbons used two (2U) Digitech MEQ28 with his Marshall JMP-1 preamp while touring. Well, two 2U racks are a bit cumbersome, moreover, you need to upgrade the OpAmps into the MEQ28, replacing the TL072 by Burr Browns used by Neve, or at least NE5532. With the pre-EQ, you shape the colour of your distortion, and also your gain too: when you use it with the preamp's distortion channel, well, a studio EQ can insanely overdrive the input tube. When it comes to the post EQ... Oh, you know, you may have a flattering sound when you play alone and... never noticed how later it will suck when playing with the band?
Great vid. Please get a little properly isolated pedalboard psu to save you those potential headaches even though you got away with it this time. Might be hard to get one to run the big power hungry eventide too though!
That pedalboard design is similar to "young ones" planks in construction. They were comparing it to adolescent kids growing up. That's what an antique dealer told me.
I would put the Eventide AND the graphic EQ in the loop. If you're using the EQ for volume boost, it'll work with the Revv pedal and a clean channel, but if using a dirty amp channel, it'll be a gain boost, not really volume.
You should consider a simple switcher with MIDI to get the most out of that multi fx and cut down on the tap dancing ES5 or something - I loved mine when I had individual pedals (before I swapped to modellers) 🇮🇪
That’s really the only drawback to it. I think XTS do a modded version with no noise and more guitar centric frequency’s. A Waza version like that would be nice
I have one at the end of my chain too. Love it, but I’m definitely more Grunge/Stoner sound so some noise isn’t a problem for me. For serious, gigging players they should look into a better EQ. Great cheap Swiss Army knife.
The GE-7 needs a complete overhaul. Its still not bad but there are way, way better EQ's out there now and its showing its age. Having an EQ on your board is so badly overlooked. I've used one since the late 80's and it really does the thing so many guitarists crave yet so many don't know about this "trick".

Phase 95 is a great first in chain pedal. Also daisy chain power is only a problem if a pedal doesn't like it. I know exactly which pedals of mine need iso power.
I have an Eventide H90. Do you run it in dual mode? Where, if you want to, You can put an algorithm before and after your preamp? It's a few extra cables, but very versatile. Especially if you ever use any of the synth engines.
Those rules about where to put pedals are a good place to start but I too prefer things ahead of my drive. Phase 90, echoplex, univibe...I put them in front of drive. Thats how it would have been done in their day, right in front of the amp. I must have a short delay in front of my drive now.
The muting is the point. You don't want people to hear you tuning, and it's very handy to be able to just mute your chain. Most of us just leave the tone and volume on the guitar completely open.
@@pete5516 i use the volume as a 'tone' anyway. I dont have a clean channel i use my drirty one n roll back volume. So its in my vocabulary to use volume
