    I took one of the grates, that I don't use, from my giant smoker and cut the center out to fit a small Americana grill that I have had a few years for cooking burgers. The grate is diamond shaped 3/16 metal. cut to size with grinder and brought back to new with wire wheel.
    For seasoning, wiped it down with, Pure Creamy Liquid Shortening. This stuff has a smoke point at 460*, put in oven, had to lean it, front to back to make it fit. Set the oven at 425* for 3 hours. Grilled some burgers, nothing stuck to the grate.
    Could not wait till the 16th for the Grand Champ smoker.

    I got tip for you I got a 5-in exhaust extension and put it on my grand champ get a way better draw go about 4 in shorter than your cooking chamber from the bottom of your exhaust to the top of the stack I got it on Amazon just slides right over the other one don't even need a clamp no leaks I trimmed one end off for length You don't want it too long or if you close your door it's a little too good

    It's been a while I forget did you ever try the tuner plates on the Grand champ or turning that cooking chamber charcoal grade upside down for a heat deflector

      @@CassCooking You know what, you have a lot of good videos. Im used to smok'n on a big smoker, will hold 50 whole Briskets. Ordered a Char Griller Grand Champ, from Homedepot, will be here the 16th. Now I will have to learn on a small one. Been on the big one for 20 years, but it takes a lot of wood to smoke a couple items

      @@CassCooking I never made mine into a business. I'm in Choctaw, OK 15 miles east of OKC. Here you have to have a building and all stainless steel everything, to expensive. I also had a custom cabinet shop for 42 years and sold a lot of BBQ to my clients and the people I knew at Farmers Ins. Retired but still have the cabinet shop on my property, out in the boonies on 5 acres, no neighbors close by and dead-end road, very safe here. Anyway, enough of my yada,yada. Can't wait to get the new Grand Champ, hope it is as nice as I have been seeing and hearing about here on youtube. Some day I need to learn how to make money on youtube. I'm not much for being in front of a camera.

      Dude you're describing my dream property lol you're going to love the grand champ! Just watch more of my videos I'm always cooking on it! As for being in front of the camera...trust me when I say I HATE watching myself on video and editing my own videos....lol it's just something ya gotta get used to if u want to make youtube videos!

      I am using it right out of the box, no mods. HOWEVER. You want to season it and get all the factory oil off of it before putting food on it. I have a video on the channel for that too. Thanks for the kind words!

    Looks awesome Matt. I was wondering if you happen to have a rib candy glaze recipe that you use, or do you just buy kosmos. The cherry apple habanero sounds awesome but I've never made any.

      Yea I haven't made my own yet! I usually just use Kosmos! Highly recommend it. He has some new flavors out too, that I haven't tried yet!
