3:01 Driving gloves .......a MUST when driving a mini van! Stache is optional but recommended.

I always liked the look of this generation Voyager/Caravan/Town&Country. They were unreliable, but they were very comfortable, spacious, and drove buttery smooth.

I wouldn’t say they were unreliable, they were just used and abused lol
All the engines in these are super durable, and the transmissions aren’t that bad when they’re actually serviced regularly.. but most never got serviced 🥴

Mine was reliable, but a hit and run driver ran into the rear of my 2nd gen minivan this week. I'd like to repair it. Nice clean examples have a good value, but all used cars now seem to be overpriced

The one I owned had 400k+ miles, all original transmission and engine, and neither were rebuilt. I had purchased it from the original owners and they took very good care of it

I had a 1987 Voyager LE with the 2.2L Turbo that was quick mine had the 727 Torque-Flite 3 speed Variant I had a 1991 Voyager SE 3.0L V-6 that had the 727 3 speed Auto Variant as well. These vans with the O/D transmission were junk. The O/D was an option in 1991. Standard transmission was the variant of the 727 Torque-Flite 3 speed. These 3 speed automatic transmissions were Indus table if you maintained them clunky yes but bullet proof when serviced at 20 to 30k miles. One must remember 1991 was almost 30 years ago. HP was low in the 90's. Chrysler made the Turbo inline 4 popular. The first 2.2L 4 turbo was made in 1984 for the Daytona Turbo Z(1984-1993) and Chrysler Lazer XT (1984-1986), 1984-1988 Chrysler New Yorker (E Platform) Plymouth Caravelle (1984-1988), Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager (1987-1993), Dodge Shadow/Plymouth Sundance (1987-1993) Dodge Spirit Turbo/ R/T (1989-1993), Dodge 600/600 ES (1984-1988) Chrysler Lebaron Turbo (1984-1994), Chrysler Lebaron GTS/Dodge Lancer (1985-1988) Dodge Omni GLH (Goes Like Hell) (1985-1987) Dodge OMNI GLH-S (Goes Like hell Smore) (1986-1987). The 2.2l Turbo had 146HP and the 2.5L inline 4 Turbo started in 1989 had 175 HP and the 2.2L intercooled 4 that came in (1991-1993) Daytona IROC and the Dodge Spirit R/T (1991-1992. Here is a fun fact the main competitor to the Spirit R/T was the Ford Taurus SHO (Super High Output). The Taurus SHO killed the Spirit as the Taurus was offered with a auto transmission where the R/T was mated to a mandatory 5 speed Muncie.

The TE41 was used through 2020 and generally has a good reputation. These were the first fully computer shifted transmission of any automaker at the time. The solenoid packs had issues, especially when the fluid was not serviced on schedule with ATF+4. Initially the dealer service techs did not understand them, often replaced units that weren't bad, There were several running changes to the TE41 over almost a quarter century, there was also a six speed version. The transmission has no bands and is very compact, not heavy duty. Its good to have a transmission cooler, but replacing the fluid and filter every other year will extend the life. Mine has 200,000 and no issues. Its actually a nice piece of engineering. The 3 speed Torqueflite was bulletproof, basically the original Valiant A-904 converted to front drive

Our family had the same van, same color, same engine and everything, only thing that was bad was the tranny, that had to be rebuilt in 1994 , I understand alot of those tranny's were problematic

Most cars in the 90s were still using incandescent bulbs, including the high mount stop lamp.
