Okay, so... Geoff's costume change is actually BRILLIANT. Its a hint that he's not playing Bruno at all! In the movie the "seven foot frame..." verse belongs to Camilo. What does that have to do with the costume change and Isabela's line? Camilo is a SHAPESHIFTER. This is one hundred percent a thing Camilo would find funny.
I love their faces when Geoff takes over the Isabella line. Ashley looks like "Why is he singing my line?", Layne looks over like "What the hell?" and Cesar looks to the side as if saying "What's going on here?" ^^
In fact, Geoff is portraying Camillo, the shapeshifter. In "We don't talk about Bruno", it was this character that was imitating Bruno. So it is coherent that he switched costume for the Isabella part. This last change was not in the film in the song, but it is sooo well done !
This is one of those VP videos you have to watch at least five separate times, just to focus on everything one performer is doing all the way through. So many little jokes and nods to the original. Like Layne taking Dolores' part, which had the rhythm of her shoes while dancing as such an integral piece of the whole (and his voice is just so naturally sweet and unassuming). Geoff getting to switch roles just like Camilo. And of course, everyone's side-eyes and eye-rolls! So much fun acting in addition to the great vocal performances and amazing arrangement.
I have been following Voiceplay since I first found them years ago. I absolutely love their performances, talents, and productions. They have grown, in my opinion, from a young group of marvelous talents to a miraculous group of vocals rivalling anything out there, and surpassing most. But for all the love I have for their music and talent, I have to say I may have laughed more watching your reaction. Priceless!
So glad you're reacting to this one!! Such a brilliant arrangement by Layne, and possibly the funniest thing VoicePlay's done to date. Fantastic mix of crazy-talented vocals and humour - just a joy to watch. As they said in one of their webchats, they take the music seriously, but not themselves. That's why we love them!
Plus he nails the little Felix correction after Pepa sings, "It was my wedding day," with, "It was OUR wedding day!" Love that. Felix is just happy to be here, and Cesar channels him here.
I really enjoyed how Geoff and Layne work together to create such a solid rhythm section. It gives the rest of the group the best platform to shine, and adds a really powerful dynamic.
In a Patreon Q&A, Geoff was asked who decided he should wear the same shorts and shirt as Ashley. Turns out, the plan for him to sing the second line was in Layne's arrangement. GEOFF said, wouldn't it be funny if I was wearing the same thing. The clothes came with two sizes (rental) to make sure the fit was right. Geoff is apparently one woman's dress size larger than Ashley. Always love, love love your reactions to Voiceplay and Geoff, thanx for reacting to this one!
The best part of these videos is knowing that you don't know what's coming, and seeing you react to things we know you will go crazy over. The joy in your voice and face for Geoff's wardrobe change and his scream were delicious!!
Definitely one of the best reactions/review of this one I have seen. And I have seen most of them. Lol. When Geoff started singing Isabella’s line, the look on Ashley’s face like she was so pissed. Then Layne glancing over during that, like ‘WTF Geoff.’ And Cesar looking towards the exit like he wanted to leave. was so funny. When The Isabella line starts, I turn all my attention to the reactor now. Lol just waiting for the laughter.
Voiceplay is my favorite accapella group. This is the second time I've heard you squeal! Adorable. The fun you were having was contagious. You're the best!
Have you NOT done "If I were a Rich Man/Girl"? It's an absolute must! It's a mix of the original show tune and Gwen Stefani's "If I Were a Rich Girl" and Ashley Diane kills it.
Hi Elizabeth, I'm glad you're reacting to another VoicePlay song, and I loved this performance. This was also my first time listening to Ashley, and her vocals were amazing. The humor and acting by everyone was the best, especially Geoff's scream over the rat. Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙
You were almost enjoying this analysis too much. Your reactions and giggles were fun and as entertaining too watch as this video by VoicePlay. AWESOME harmonies ....Great characterizations..... fun fun fun
When new VoicePlay or Geoff vids come out, I watch them a zillion times, but I'm always waiting for your reactions! I love how you explain things, and your giggling is contagious!! 😍
Anyone else love how at 10:40 when Geoff does the trailing low note it's almost like she's literally watching the note trail out of the video and across the room 🤣❤❤
I have been waiting and waiting for you to do your reaction video to VoicePlay’s ‘we don’t talk about Bruno’. They did such massive layering of all their talents and produced a wonderfully fantastic fun video. I have watched it so many times and still pick up things I didn’t catch before. I love how they say they take music seriously, but not themselves. I’ve heard that that shows true artistry and talent . I LOVE VoicePlay !! Thank you Elizabeth for your insight and analysis on their incredibly well done fun video. Cheers!
Goodness , your reactions are awesome. No matter how many times I’ve listened to a song, you point out something I missed. Such fun following along with you.
This was absolutely hilarious, they are just amazing! You would never dream that music could be so much fun! Your reaction to it was soooo funny, thank you so much for reviewing this one 👍
That ending has so much depth and intrigue delivered so quickly! I replay it many times trying to get the details - and then silence.... I think the only thing I can do is enjoy it.
ASHLEY fit this one perfectly. As with Rachel in the Little Mermaid medley, just a perfect voice for the part. I think that is what I like about Voiceplay. By changing one voice each time they are able to put in the perfect selection for the job.
It's so incredible how Voiceplay keeps putting out so many amazing songs! Love your reaction/analysis as always, and eagerly anticipating a reaction of Voiceplay's Wicked Medely! :)
Love your reaction...Kathy is the one throwing the petals at Ashley and Geoff.....I love to watch your expressions as you watch....I am glad you rewound and caught Ashleys expression when she sang about the dead fish....So many miss it because they close their eyes or look away that that part....Most reactors have watched this without having watched the movie first, but watching the movie gives much more context and understanding to the song.... Another reactor, Mortius did an interview/live stream with Cesar for their birthdays....Cesar confirmed that the scream wasn't actually Geoff, but the screaming goat sound effect.... I really think you should react to "If I was a rich man/girl"...There are some amazing vocal gymnastics in that song....
We don't talk about Bruno, but we sure talk a lot about talking about Bruno! I first heard this when watching the movie and loved it there. As usual VoicePlay does a wonderful and funny cover. And - again as usual - you take us through all of the details, pointing out a few things I know I missed, all while simply enjoying the piece for the entertainment it is! Thank you!
I was so excited to see that you were reacting to Bruno. You always point out the many things that slide right by me in the videos which helps me enjoy them even more!
For a song that's about not talking about Bruno, sure takes a long time not to talk about him... LOL I'm not familiar with this group, and apparently I've been living under a rock because I'm not familiar with this song or the movie... But I enjoyed the group and the song... even the humor. Thanks for the introduction!
I've been looking forward to you seeing this one. :) Geoff as Disney Princess is awesome. I heard one reactor say something like: Find someone who looks at you the way Geoff looks at that purple light. Oh yes!
Well, to be fair, beyond that purple light was his wife Kathy, flinging rose petals at his face. 😍 They actually slowed the video down to half during those scenes to make it look like the petals were wafting their way on a gentle breeze, but they were really being blown in their faces by a high powered fan. 😂
@@maskedmallard537 That is of course true, I have also watched the BTS video, and Geoff often looks off to one side in videos, where I'm sure he's looking at Kathy, though in this instance he's clearly looking above her, the line of sight wouldn't be right, but I take your point. He's just got such loving eyes anyway, you can't act or fake that look of love that comes from within. I see it often even as he looks into the camera.
I was smiling and grinning the entire time with you despite having rewatched their video countless times; your glee is infectious. :) I recommend "A Chance to Fly" also by Voiceplay, their amazing medley of songs from Wicked the musical. Unrelated but another recommendation: "Oath of the Gatewatch" by Planeswalker for a bunch of reasons you'd appreciate.
I only just found Geoff Castellucci and then VoicePlay, absolutely adore their covers. I was so happy to find your channel. I really appreciate how giddy and excited you get while also giving a fantastic in-depth analysis. I don't know much about music, so I miss a lot of the subtle things that make something great, that I just take for granted. But your video gave me a new angle to view and appreciate this incredible cover. Like at 18:43 I hadn't noticed when Geoff did that baseline drop, so cool!
I really enjoy the subtle Diz-bounding that they are doing in this video. Thank you for both the in-depth analysis and the broad enjoyment. I was particularly interested in your discussion of the "d" sound at the start of the bass line. I learn something each time I watch this channel.
I loved the arrangement, I found out your channel recently and I'm loving these analysis videos, it's entertaining and I'm looking forward to see more as I am also a big fan of Voiceplay.
You should definitely do the rich man/rich girl song. It has one of, if not the best runs I have ever heard in a song. I really think you would enjoy. Plus just a good song in general
Part of the reason I follow this channel is to discover gems like that that I would have otherwise never found. I must've played the full song easily a hundred times already since watching this video. Thank you for that!
Loved your reaction/review of the song. Along with the set and costumes, Voice Play videos make great use of lighting effects and props. Thanks for your outstanding video.
It took me a whole lot of viewings to catch all the details in this: Layne’s and Cesar’s expressions when Geoff is in the blouse (Ashley’s too-she’s all, “you stole my line!”). So many musical nuances- Geoff is always kind of partly percussion with those low notes, but more so in this, and Layne’s amazing inhaled bass at the end. Eli’s acting (And I am going to grumble just a little bit here-I think there must be a reason Eli is usually separated from Geoff, but in this case, putting him behind Layne, who is a tall guy, kind of blocks some of his physical expressions). Ashley really blends well with these guys vocally-I hope it isn’t another year before she is featured again. And just a suggestion, you really should react to “If I Were a Rich Man/Girl,” because Ashley does some things vocally that are well worth your attention. I always love your reactions. Looking forward to the next!
I have been checking your channel for weeks to see your analysis! Your absolute glee while reacting to them is infectious. VoicePlay is the absolute best and you breaking it all down makes my day! Check out VoicePlay's Eleanor Rigby (Eli arranged it) and ditto the If I Were a Rich Man/Girl. 2 of my other favorites.
I love their complex arrangements and absolutely love Geoff's slides. They are always so smooth. The one important thing I have learned though is to never listen to them without my good headphones on! There is so much you miss if you just listen through the phones speakers.
Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius for having come up with this song. VoicePlay did an amazing, outstanding job here ❤ They were really really good and it was super funny too!
I love voiceplay so I had already seen this, but your reactions always spot something here and there I hadn't noticed, and it's so much fun to see. Loved every second of it!
This was done 9 months ago, so I hope you see it! I love VoicePlay. I really like this song (regardless of the artist), and I love your reactions. What a combination!!! I think this is probably my favorite reaction of yours. Right up there with the Oogie Boogie song (the look on your face when Geoff hits that E1 at the end). Your enthusiasm, obvious enjoyment and your superb musical knowledge make you (in my opinion) one of the best reactors out there. Fantastic reaction and analysis!!
The more I see of Cesar in Voiceplay, the more I think they made an absolute TOP PICK with him as their newest member. He just gets better and better with each new video they make, in terms of going all-in and 'selling' his performance. And his voice is amazing too.
There's a video of Ashley and Geoff dressed alike dancing. It is hilarious. Also, you should definitely check out the "If I were a rich man/girl" cover. Ashley has a huge flex in that song.
anyone else notice how appropriate it is for Layne to be Dolores? the fact that he's the beatboxer which inherently requires a deep control of your voice and a great sense of timing...which makes a ton of sense for the character who's whole deal is being acutely aware of sound. thats just brilliant
VOICEPLAY AMAZING AS ALWAYS! Complex Simplicity and the beauty!!! WOW!!! They bring joy and make it look like effortless and SO MUCH FUN!! -I think the line about Neutella was something like n tell us . . . But maybe they were hungry after an awesome session! WOOP WOOP WOOP!!!
Loved Cesar's parts here...clever, hilarious, beautifully clear...just so enjoyable start to finish! He was great in Hoist the Colors but this is my favorite performance of his for sure. I thought you'd miss Geoff's slide for a second there! I love how it goes into sort of this growly, menacing, open-mouthed "ah" sound with reverb. I think Layne snuck that last "Bruno" in as part of the beatboxing, deep and gravelly like a Tuvan throat singer. Super cool! VoicePlay has seriously been on a rip lately. Hoist the Colors, The Dragonborn Comes, and this are on repeat in my house and in the car via Spotify (if you didn't know, a bunch of their stuff is on there!). I can't get enough of them these days!
I was grumpy when I started watching this but your laughter at the costume change batted that away. I don't know if it's the analysis or your genuine joy for whatever music is playing that is more enjoyable.
That was superlative, Elizabeth - talent abounds, there, but really taken by the bass - he was really digging deep into those lower Octave registers - wow !!

You just blew my mind, wow. I really need to rewatch Encanto.
Didn’t Camilo even change into Isabela’s boyfriend at one point in the original music video as a joke?
Layne, doing the arrangement: Hey Geoff, you want to take this Isabella line?
Geoff, flipping his hair: Sure, no problem.
he knows how he makes the girls giddy and the guys questioning their sexuality. ;)

And just a suggestion, you really should react to “If I Were a Rich Man/Girl,” because Ashley does some things vocally that are well worth your attention.
I always love your reactions. Looking forward to the next!
Geoff is a Disney princess now
I have been checking your channel for weeks to see your analysis!
Thanks a lot, Elizabeth! Now I can't unhear "Nutella!"
Nutteellllaaaaa! It's always in my head too. Now you share my nightmare!
@@TheCharismaticVoice Nutellafied ? 🤣
I love how playful and kind of childlike Cesar is in this one! Happy, innocent fun!
Ashley has a huge flex in that song.
where's the video of Ashley and Geoff dancing? I've seen the behind the scenes for We Don't Talk Bruno and there wasn't a dance in that
@@spidersylar it was on her Instagram.
@@ChrisHaar Ah thanks, I don't use Instagram much so didn't think to check there. Just saw it. Hilarious 😂
Yessss I DREAM of a Charismatic Voice analysis for If I Were a Rich Man/Girl!!!
@@jamielunsford8339 I'd like to see her do "Great Showman Medley" as well
Your little squeals of joy at Layne's fills brought me joy.
anyone else notice how appropriate it is for Layne to be Dolores? the fact that he's the beatboxer which inherently requires a deep control of your voice and a great sense of timing...which makes a ton of sense for the character who's whole deal is being acutely aware of sound. thats just brilliant
Without mincing words...awesome reaction, as usual! thanks, thanks and thanks again!
WOW! After hearing this I can simply not listen to the original. This version absolutely BLEW my mind
I was waiting for the reaction at 14:00 Did not disappoint.
You squeaked! I couldn't stop laughing. Another excellent review and analysis.
Thank you! I love how you catch and point out so many pieces of candy in this terrific song. Well done!
I’ve always been a huge fan of Geoff, but damnit Laynes arrangements are fire
the soft-spoken lines he did were excellent.
@@UltimateGamerCC Yessssss it was ASMR dude
That was superlative, Elizabeth - talent abounds, there, but really taken by the bass - he was really digging deep into those lower Octave registers - wow !!
