    The aesthetic of the exterior is subjective but more people than not agree that its a great design. Andrea wants more sharp edges, but I actually love the current design. The hatchback is the best looking among its competitors in my opinion.

      Keep asking my wife if she wants to replace her 22 M3 hatch AWD.
      Nope, she loves it. With Blizzaks in the winter, not one issue for traction.
      I just keep banging my head when getting in and out of it though, just too low for my comfort of ingress and egress.
      Been flawless though, very solid and reliable.

    Mazda took a chance with the styling of this Mazda3 Hatchback, so we've gotta respect them for that, and for their continued effort to make satisfying-to-drive cars with non-CVT transmissions (auto or manual). The style still looks smooth and unique. Thanks for including U.S. features and prices along with the Canadian Mazzda numbers.

    I have a 2017 Mazda3 sport GT with the 6 speed automatic. For $2,700 I purchased the Premium Package, which added an amazing number of tech and creature comfort features. Yes, it does not have the “edge” of a GTI or a Focus ST - both of which I considered at the time - but It has a great balance of comfort, quality, refinement, handling, economy, and performance. In 2 weeks I’ll have had the vehicle 7 years and I still love it!

    Just got this last night. The turbo carbon edition. Had never heard of it.
    I told the dealer I like hatchbacks and driving. He brought it to me to test drive. I said to myself as soon as I saw it, “f&ck’, I know I’m buying this tonight”. Drove it. I think I finally know what true love feels like. This car is 🔥 🔥 🔥

    Mazda3 (sedan) owner here. It's a great car. And I kinda stumbled upon mine (leased it as a last-minute change to what I was originally going for, and have since bought out the lease). I got lucky. It drives beautifully, and purrs like a kitten (and has great power when I need it. And I have the naturally aspirated, non-turbo version!). Even in its naturally aspirated version, it's so much more powerful than all the competition. It's pretty amazing. And it has a lovely interior. The biggest negative for me is rear seat legroom. I pretty much have to forget about having passengers back there. Fortunately, I rarely do. Thanks for this video!

      I heard the steering wheel feel is very heavy so it's a struggle to turn the steering wheel, is that true? Also are you tall? I'm short so wondering if my rear seat legroom would be better.

    Hey from the UK 👋 Love your reviews!! I’ve had my Mazda3 2.0G……for 2.5 years now and still love it!! Smooth drive…..Smooth manual box and always get 51mpg…(42mpg US). The thing I notice with Mazda, they listen to customers. They change or update every 2 years the specs and details and not wait 4 to 5 years for one massive update. In the UK we don’t have any turbo engines or 2.5ltr for the Mazda3. I love the engine on my Mazda3 but sometimes I crave a kick up the ass 🙈

    Sounds about right! I loved driving our old 2007 Mazda3 hatch, and that model had more window square footage and a more upright hatch. Even then the backseat was just too tight with my kids in the car. Great for driving solo or with one other grown-up! Mazda makes surprisingly upscale vehicles that are fun to drive and I wouldn't hesitate to buy this for a teen or 20-something. Or empty-nesters!

    Solid review! Been debating what to get between this in the automatic 2.5 AWD or the Impreza RS. Leaning towards this just for the driving dynamics.

    • @tpolerex7282
      @tpolerex7282 ปีที่แล้ว

      This does have better driving dynamics than the RS (auto:CVT) but not by much. I seriously considered this as well but just couldn’t get over the claustrophobic back seat, some dated tech and much less total cargo capacity. I’ve had the RS since June and love it, (my other car is a WRX), super stiff chassis, comfortable ride, quiet, responsive powertrain and handling- though it is not a Hot Hatch. The safety tech, ACC, headlights, seats and stereo are fantastic. 35 MPG and easy 500+ mile range are icing on the cake.

      @Gritt982 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I got myself a AWD Mazda3 hatch in 2022, new. Still love it, the suspension is fantastic, every pothole is just a muted thud, it's very solid. The stereo is good. The economy is good and the engine is still torquey for a non turbo. G-vertoring control helps to minimize body roll significantly.
      It's got a lot of nice things going for it and Mazda are their own company again since 2015 (no ford)

    I learned to drive a M on a 73 RX3. That was a great car which I loved driving. Not real fast off the line, but cruising along at illegal speeds, it was great! I've owned 8 Mazda's in my 50+ years of driving. The feature that stood out on all of them, was their "fun to drive" aspect - including the CX5, which I had the original 2.0L version. Way under powered, and unfortunately (fortunately?), traded it in on an RX350. I'm not young anymore and luxury seems to be more of a priority than sportiness...ahhh... to be 20 again.....

    The only reason I didn’t go for the Mazda 3 turbo over a Golf is the powerband tapers off because that turbo can’t push enough air up top. Also it has an archaic transmission compared to the dual clutch on the Golf, with a lot of half-baked tech. My mother has a CX30 turbo, and even though it ticks a lot of boxes at face value, those boxes don’t work nearly as well in practice.

    I am a 4-time Mazda owner in the US but don't currently own one. My 2006 Mazda 3 manual hatch was probably my favorite car. However, it pains me to say this, but that all the critical acclaim in the world has done little to sell this car. I love hatchbacks, but most people don't: unless they're raised and called CUVs. I don't like this generation of the car, largely due to the rear tunnel vision and the encroachment of sheet metal into glass area in the rear. I don't care about the rear suspension, and only "enthusiasts" who read car blogs and social media do. This is a sweet car, but given the choice, I'd probably choose a CX-30, and I hope that car receives additional refinements and upgrades, such as finally addressing the objectionable surface area of black cladding, and offering hybrid propulsion. And let's face it- the masses have spoken with regard to touch screens. I think the commander-controller thing is technically superior, but Mazda is going to have to adopt touch screens more widely if they expect to sell to John and Jane Q. Public. I like Mazda, but being a small company, I'm fearful for their future and unsure if they will be able to pivot with the market.

      Mazda will be just fine. The market doesn’t even know what it’s doing. EVs aren’t a sure thing at this point, especially with companies like Toyota being conservative with where they approach it. The minute the government figures out they can’t meet their infrastructure goals they’ll pivot the EPA standards. All Mazda needs is to hybridize their lineup.

Thank goodness for that, it will be far more reliable than the VW. Before anyone gripes... I've owned several VW's and yes it was a hard habit to break😂

    What many seniors want is a smooth ride, warm comfortable seats and steering wheel, memory drivers seat, and a price that doesn’t break the bank. Never mind the sun roof and all of that modern day computer stuff. Give me the hand dials for radio, heater and wipers. Get back to basic comfort and reasonable price. (I know it’s too late for that).

      @Motormouth_. we are in our early seventies. Our 2021 crv-exl is the third one. We had a 15, a 17 and now the 21. We like the height for getting in and out. We like the memory seat because we both drive this one vehicle, and at our age, heated seats and steering wheel are important. We would like a smoother ride rather than a firm ride, but handling is important. We don’t need the fancy gadgetry and on fixed income, need to watch the outflow. Some of the old is still good like knobs rather than touch screens. Give us affordable comfort.

      Thats an awfully big thing to ask when politicians are forcing car makers to design future cars that have no need for any type of transmission. I'm afraid soon the used market will be our only choice, or at least until gas shoots up to $10 gallon or ICE ownership is otherwise made impractical by government legislation.

    As an owner of a 2021 turbo hatch, I'd say "yes, but with reservations". Newer isnt always better, right? Look at what VW did to the Golf GTI and Ford did to the Mustang. Sure both are faster and handle better than their preceding models, but both took some steps back in looks. (inside as well imo) If Mazda could bring back the independent rear suspension, add their new 8 speed auto and make some very minor tweaks to the exterior and interior, that would be perfect in my opinion. The suspension speaks for itself, but Mazda's new transmission (if tuned properly) would no longer be the Achilles heel holding back the 320lbs of torque on tap with the turbo engine. I know any complete redesign would probably result in the 3 getting larger and heavier so I'm not really onboard with that. They could add a hybrid option which could theoretically make the base engine more energetic while also being more efficient.

    It's a good looking car overall, but I agree with Andrea that the sides and rear could tolerate some sharp creases. It's too blob shaped from the 3/4 view. I find the interior entirely too claustrophobic. It's just so much darn black. Enough with black already! The cramped interior dimensions and tiny windows don't help. I hope they improve all of these aspects with the next generation. Also, the price has gone stratospheric for 2024. Starting at $27k USD? Did I read that correctly on their website??? Its starting price is now higher than all of its competition, and even higher than several comparable sized CUVs, like the all-new 2024 Hyundai Kona, which looks fantastic.
