Regarding a plumb bow design and the issue of anchor swing, and just talking out my transom, could a vertical shaft manually placed in a bow sprit guide to spear the chain or anchor possibly keep the anchor from excess swing?

Probably too much momentum to “capture” and restrain the anchor.

I think Bob Perry would be a great toe-to-toe with Dick for Midshipmen. He’s qualified and quite approachable. I think it would be a lively conversation!

So glad to see another episode of Ocean Sailor and Millennial Falcon. For my money Khiara and Adam have the best sailing TH-cam channel and Kraken are the best blue water boats bar none.

I watched the 2 interview videos on the Millennial Falcon channel first and they confirmed a lot of my thoughts plus adding a lot of details. I grew up sailing the baltic sea, I love cats, it is a lot of fun to sail my F18 😉 and a good friend owned a dragonfly which was also fun racing it at 20+kts but for some reasons we were wearing dry suits doing so and it was not offshore. Sadly the friend retired and wants to do an Atlantic lap soon so completely surprisingly the dragonfly was sold 😉
We are both engineers and what you promote to be a good blue water boat makes perfectly sence.
I also chartered a First 40.7 once. It was the best 40.7 in the region at that time for a pretty good reason. Another friend chartered the same boat about 2 years before and heavily ran aground with it hitting a rock. The boat was completely rebuild causing a damage in the 35000€ range. About 15 years ago that was a lot of money. After the rebuild the boat was much stiffer then before.
When you watch such things you don't really want to buy a boat built that way any more...
You can't crash all these boat first for getting them rebuild for being better afterwards. Still the sportive sailing on the 40.7 was a lot of fun... but it would be no boat for my future plans...
You are doing a great job! Thanks for sharing so much inspiration!

I’m looking at an AU made Carbineer 46 originally made by Moody. What are your thoughts?

What’s happening with the Midshipmen? I can’t see any new episodes since December 2022?

Try getting Torsten from Sirius to debate keels. He seems to like to talk and provide a lot of options for his keels.

Dick said it but I'll expand on the concept because I think he was being a touch too modest... Adam's interviews with Dick and John are some of the most meaningful content for novice sailors on the Internet and undoubtedly has saved lives. However, the true exquisiteness of this moment will be realized when it starts to change the market ... knowledge is power and has the ability to change consumption habits... a smarter sailing community will demand better from industry... and a rising tide lifts all boats. Bravo to Adam, Kiara, Dick, and John!

I am spoiled for 49:13 minutes! Dick, fewer whales actually…simply more of them observing humans as they quietly plot their revenge.

What do you think about island packets, old and new. Two perspectives?

I don't know if i will ever get to sail around the world, but the Caribbean and Bahamas maybe the west coast USA and Canada - I would just want a safe and sea-kindly boat.

I agree with Dick. If you're going to spend that kind of money on a boat it would be prudent to go to the factory and get all the info you can on how they are built and why.

Adam and Khiara are just the most amazing couple. Unfortunately Khiara is so similar to my ex-wife, who lost her marbles at some point, that she makes me sad and happy at the same time. I'm looking forward to the Kraken 44 and look at maybe visiting in 3 years with the money to get one :)

Really enjoy these interviews and I don’t even own a boat or sail, but appreciate the conversation
