    NIce Summary. I returned to biking after 27 years 😳 with my purchase of a GT Pro in white. You’re right about the colour schemes, but they had a white one in stock and I had an itch I needed to scratch. Obviously during the lock down there was no opportunity to test ride bikes, and I had no kit anyway, so I relied on reviews like yours. My choice narrowed down to the Tiger or the Multistrada 950 and ironically, I liked the look of the Triumph tech. I’ve only done a couple of hundred miles, but after that first very daunting wobble away from the dealership, all I can say is what a machine. I love it. Incredibly agile and rider friendly for a born again biker like me, and very confidence inspiring. I love the engine (used to have 600cc sports bikes) - great sound and character, and very tractable. Thanks for your informative reviews, and I look forward to returning to the biking fold!

    ** Apologies about any issues with the sound - I'm aware there is a high pitch whine on the audio for younger listeners - turned out to be a faulty GoPro mic adaptor lead - fixed in future videos **

    • @jyripieniniemi
      @jyripieniniemi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I probably have enough tinnitus that the high pitched whine isn't bothering me. But would you consider switching the clips from stereo to mono in your editing program when there's only audio in one channel? Much easier on the ear(s) when listening on headphones.

    • @jyripieniniemi
      @jyripieniniemi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Additionally, you might be able to get rid of the high-pitched whine by setting a lowpass filter on the audio at about 10000 Hz, depending on where the whine is. This would dull the sound a bit but for most people wouldn't be too noticeable.

    • @MrAnottakenusername
      @MrAnottakenusername 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      the whine I can handle, but please either use 2 channels or make it mono sound, I'm now listening only on my left speaker, that is much more annoying in my opinion.

    I must admit the 200kg feel of the triumph is spot on. Both on the move and moving around.

    I rented one for a day in Cape Town. Had a lump in my throat when I handed the keys back... Really beautiful all round bike. Only two issues I had was the high seat height, the rev counter on the TFT screen regardless of your display preference-not easy to keep track of the revs your pulling and the heat. Then again, with such a torquey engine, no matter what revs you’re at it just pulls. Even with a pillion. Was hoping the fuel consumption would be below 5l/100km (recorded 5,4) but then again it’s a big engine and I had a pillion with me. Would love to own one one day.

    Curiously, this is the first adventure bike where I'm actually *more* interested in the road-touring model than the fullbore adventure model. The GT Pro I test rode just felt immensely composed at any speed, including a standstill, almost like a comfort version of the STriple. Would love to one pick up in a year or two, happily saving for a big offroad-heavy ADV trip or two first (some BDRs or the TAT, maybe even an African excursion) with my CRF250L though

    Hmmmm,......I like the TFT, I like the joystick and have never had any confusion with it, and I like the more conservative paint schemes..(personally, I hate the white frame on the green RP). Since I own one, I do have a couple little minutia items as well, but none that you mentioned. I think that is a testament to how good Triumph did on this bike.

  • @commo3451

    Great summary Andy. Clear, succinct, honest opinion. Your "first impressions" prompted me to test ride the GT PRO because I was looking to replace my 3 year old GS 1200 LC Triple Black (which I also love). I am also 5'8" and always wary of the GS's size and weight. But, its such an accomplished all-rounder, I seriously wondered where I would go next. However, the combined performance, comfort , light weight , spec, quality and price of the GT PRO convinced me that it was a suitable replacement. I beleive Tiumph have produced another class-leading bike. Whilst at the dealers, I also tested a Speed Twin (something I 've been admiring for a while, and totally agreed with your reviews). Was totally smitten and ended up ordering one of those too! Wife now nervous every time she hear's "Hey kids" from the study!

    Great to see Triumph updating an already great machine. As you know I recently bought a 2017 Tiger XRT 800 and it has almost all of these same features, except for the TFT display and electronic suspension.
    This new 2020 GT Pro 900 might be a 2021 or 2022 upgrade for the 2017 I have.

  • @TheGazLab

    I test rode the top of the range 900 yesterday, it was lovely.. They fixed the issues I had with the 800 (tubeless, tyres you can pump up, suspension no noises, adjustable screen) but I cut my leg on the hideous sticky out bits, and the off road one is very tall I had trouble getting on and off it (I'm 5'11' with standard legs lol) .. When riding these new 900 's are really great.. So stable, in traffic you forget you are on two wheels! I managed to ride 7 miles through a busy town only having to leg down once! Great bike that has made me rethink my tenere 700 in September.. Gaz

    I got hit on my previous bike back in May, low speed minor injury. It was a heavy touring bike and I decided it was time for a change of pace. I wanted a well rounded and lighter bike. After watching your initial review, along with others and extensive reading. This was the first ADV bike I test rode at the end of May. Fell in love with it right away, ended up buying it in June!
    One other negative I would add, and this is just me paying too close attention to noise maybe: A "whizzing" noise when I am riding close to barriers/walls.

    Something I've noticed with my Rally Pro, is that the rear tire tends to throw mud and water all over the bike, specially through the gap between the taillight and the bike. It gets all the way to the passenger seat.
    The same (although to a lesser extent) can be said about the front. The front tire throws water all over the front, and I'm looking for a mudguard extender.
    This is one of those things that you don't realize unless you live with the bike.

Maybe after the pandemic. However, I’m leaning towards getting a much smaller bike for my next purchase. Currently, I’m riding 125cc rented bikes in Vietnam so I’m getting used to smaller ones again.

    Excellent video, always a pleasure listening to your thoughts on the motorcycles that you review. The Tiger 900 is definitely a bike on my list to test ride, I can't say I liked the look of the old 800 - not sure what it was it just looked slightly wrong in my opinion so was delighted to see that the new 900 looks so much better, a more integrated design if you know what I mean. It also sounds like Triumph have improved the feel of the bike with respect to weight or perceived weight which is good and simplified the lineup. I rode a BMW F900XR recently, overall a really nice bike, good handling, plenty of performance etc but felt that something was missing and from certain angles wasn't the best looking new bike out there. It wasn't until I rode home on my Street Triple that I realised what was missing on the XR, character - the thing that makes you really want to ride a bike not just use it as a form of efficient transport. I'm hoping the the Tiger 900 GT Pro has character (sounds great on your videos) to go along with the comfort, light/playful handling, decent instruments etc..... Time will tell, thanks again for your very interesting and informative videos, I look forward to more in future (2020 Tracer 700 review would be great as that looks so much better than the older version). Ride safe.

    Have a new 2022 Tiger 900 GT and I agree with all your positives except for comfort and engine vibrations. Re comfort, the seat is only good for 60 - 90 minutes before pain sets in. Most likely me since I have no ass and my Bonny was the same. I also get a fair amount of engine vibration through the handlebar, mirrors (left especially), and foot pegs above 70 mph, getting stronger gradually as speed increases. Not sure if I have an issue, as it just may be my sensitivity, but I did read on one site that described a vibration problem attributed to valves being too tight, discovered during the first annual service.

    I'm with you on the TFT screen completely Flyer and again not keen on the joystick! Colours as well I can't figure it apart from, boring. They are all quite minor points as you say and the others I haven't repeated here, so like you I could live with it. The positives of the bike and the bike in general is still very impressive for me. It is a stylish bike and I do like it. The one thing for me Flyer, being so used to it now, is the final drive going back to a chain...Not sure, but I get why it doesn't have a shaft, but once you are so used to living with shaft drive's it's hard to let go. It is a lot of bike for the money. Well done your info on it is very useful dude!

    Very nice summary ! Got to demo a Rally Pro ( love the green as well) and a GSA 850 back to back in March before the world came to a halt. The Tiger feels much lighter and nimble, ride height is slightly lower and you don't feel all that mass of plastic just in front of you like the GSA has. The quickshifter is superb like my Tuono while the BMW shifter is downright clunky. In fact the shifter on the GS 1250 was as well. The Tiger's geometry is perfect for my size (6ft) and I'm sure I could ride anywhere all day and be completely comfortable. I agree about the TFT, it seems BMW has the gold standard for sure. I don't like the Aprilia one either and it has no gas gauge!

    As always great review Andy! Just tried both versions and was slightly sceptical about that 21" front wheel but you know what. I could get used to any version. Especially if you never tried GT and bought a rally version. Slightly less flickable and changing the direction of travel was felt tiny bit delayed but no dramas :)
    I'm 5 foot 9 (175cm) and had no problem with rally version which had seat at the lowest position. Slightly raised heels :)

    These beauties have just arrived here in Brazil, at higher prices. Won’t be getting one anytime soon. Instead, will trade in my XRX low seat for a used XRt. Surely a lot of people will just switch to the new model, just because it’s a new model. Cheers from Brasília.

    If I was to get this bike, it would have to be a dual road version so I could go out into the bush(Australia) and go exploring down a few dirt roads. Annoying Triumph haven’t paid more attention to detail with the electronic settings ,switches,TFT screen. A big part of the bike you have to live with. Have to get some aftermarket rear indicators that don’t break,couldn’t live with that off road.

    Right.. back again..I bought the 800 xrt and after 13k km , absolutely no regrets. So.. I went today to try the 900 GT pro with the intend of upgrading but left disappointed. The bike is brilliant in all ways except one..the vibration through the bars and footrests was noticeable at 3000..mildly irritating at 4k and got increasingly worse and was on borderline miffed by the time 8000 came and went. Even the missus was surprised at the amount of massage her lower cheeks were getting through the grabrails. You didnt mention this on your reviews so wondered what you thought ??. To be honest, I just cant see myself living with that amount of vibes, no matter what the Beach Boys had to say on the matter. Be interested if you have any views on this. Great channel from you..keep up the good work. Steve from the Kingdom of Denmark

    Fabulous bike indeed. 6500km completed on my Rally Pro green and do love it. One thing that never gets mentioned is how much cooler this bike is to ride, especially compared to my 1200 Explorer. Here in Oz it was unbearable in summer.
    One thing has cropped up though with my Rally Pro and its the quick shifter, was working flawlessly up until 2 days ago, the up shift is displaying a lot of resistance where as before it was smooth as silk, yet the downshift was always a bit hit and miss, now the downshift seems to be working better. Bike also not starting first go took me 3 goes the same day the quick shifter started playing up. I have phoned my dealer and we are hoping its a software fix...🤔🤔

    I’ve just ridden the Rally Pro and was very impressed by it. I’m possibly looking to change my 2017, 1050 Sport next year as I fancy having a go at some green lanes and the RP seems to fit the gap as it is comfortable, fast across the mid range and has excellent off road capabilities. The on road performance (I’m presuming) will be very similar to the GT Pro but the 21” front wheel causes a slow change of direction in S bends, something that you should be aware of before trying to ‘flick-flack’ though them at speed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s no slouch though the corners, you just need to get used to it. Hope this helps. Have fun.

    i just purchased a brand new 21 plate 900gt and to say im disapointed is a huge huge understatement .. first off the bike just feels terrible to ride slow, lumpy lurchy terrible around town its just not comfortabe to ride . you can feel the fi strugle and at some revs you can feel it pulse as it strugles to work out what its doing . there is a harsh vibration through the bike at moderate speeds and i have a roughness through the drive train that feels like a tight chain ,its not tight . the engine also sounds tick tick ticky as soon as it warms up and more like 20k bike than a 200miles .. if you wind it up to motorway speed things are a little better but with only 200 miles on the clock im already thinking of moving it on . time to take it back to triumpy i think

    Hello Mr. Flyer thanks for all your videos I enjoy it very much! I’m from Mexico and I currently own a Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle 2019 which I love by the way but I’m planning to buy a second bike and keep the Scrambler as part of my small garage collection. Considering that you already have six motorcycles in your garage I would like to know your opinion on which of the following options you would choose first: Triumph options Tiger GT Pro, Bobber Black, Speed Twin. BMW options F850GS full equipped, R NineT, NineT Scrambler and Suzuki’s Katana. Please don’t say “it depends on the use you want to give to the bike” just imagine that all of them are equally good for you but you just have budget to choose one for your small garage collection you want to start. Thank you in advance and all the best 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Triumph is proud of the Tiger 900's *270° cross-plane crank for low rpm torque* ,
    but how does it compare with the 800's flat crank at highway rpm? More vibration?
