  • Investing in a single fund exposes you to various types of risk. Your fund manager may perform poorly or he might leave. The fund house's quality may deteriorate. On the other hand, buying too many funds reduces your portfolio an to an index, sacrificing the rewards of active management. Tracking and managing them also becomes difficult.

    Bullsht even you can have 30 40 funds across all amc and as per your type preferred ,, this will help if one fund underperforms and. Reducing risk in one amc.
    Tracking of fund is online anyways

    What if I invest through SIP of rs. 1000 in a bluechip fund, a nifty next 50 index fund, a large and mid cap fund, a couple of flexi cap funds (one that invests also in US stocks and one that invests only in India), and through SIP of rs. 500 in a couple of small cap funds and a sectoral (technology) fund at present in 2021? Why would this be considered too much and illogical?

      You may add one small cap if your time horizon is at least 5 yrs,this would enhance your portfolio.

    Is it advisable to invest for a period of 40 years in mutual funds, given that I am 26 years old and quite new to investing with an investment horizon in the long run ?

    • @34kaushik
      @34kaushik 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you have to revisit ur portfolio annually and change allocation based on your goals. coz in 40 years ull hv many times ull need the money so invest based on goals, each having a specific time horizon. supposing own a car in 6 years so when u hv sufficient money, redeem from the MF n move it to fixed income n realise ur goal. Now ur allocation ratio has changed so reallocate based on ur 20-80 or 30-70 formula. change funds based on performance, fund managers etc. check for overlapping of stocks, SEBI rule changes etc n step up ur investments by at least 10% each year.

      Sir, no such rule of how many fund u should have. Different ans u will find if u search. 4-5 fund of different category (depending which type of investor ) are enough in portfolio. Track funds timely and decide which funds are performing well. And avoid investing in funds which are not performing well. Avoid high expense ration fund. U will never have to ask anyone. i have only 6 fund in my portfolio now. One fund of each category- small, mid, large and mid, flexi, international and sector fund. U may choose fund as per ur risk adjustment and the time horizon.
