Living in Calgary, I can't believe you guys can ride trails in March. Here the snow and ice at the very earliest won't melt until end of May this year and can't ride earlier or else it damages the trails.
Empress is a fantastic trail. Taken section by section it's not too bad. Linking the sections requires some finesse in 1 or 2 corners but definitely doable. Was, and still is cleaned on hard tails regularly :)
I love the weather where I live in San Diego, but do admit I’m jealous you guys get to ride trails like these all the time. Great video, like the voiceover to help explain things.
I rode seymour with a few pro trials riders on some carbon xc hardtail bikes and it's so interesting to see where you guys struggled versus where we did. Of course we went at 1/8 the speed
The rock armouring is quite impressive on the trail! also, that dramatic editing of the climb, the black and white filter with the music, very well done! Keep up the great videos man!
and the snow is only at higher elevation - seldom snow at lower elevation average might be less than one week per year at lower elevation near the coast - more inland from the coast though
If you are climbing the trails fast then they are as intresting as riding them down because i visualise myself riding them and picking the same lines with you
@@VanCan yeah, at the end of the video I could see the arch on the seat tube... I asked prematurely... very capable bike overall, but on those trails his riding is quite impressive
@@VanCan It seems that his hardtail is dialed in very well. :) What fork is he running? Does he follow the manufacturer's air pressures and does he run tokens in it? Sorry for all the questions, I'm noobie when it comes to tuning forks and would like to learn how he setup his bike.
Sick video man.... I guess this might be a riding style thing but I am wondering why you choose to lift your front tire up on smaller drops? I often choose to get my front wheel down if I can just to have more control.
hey I've never done anything like this before ,but I weigh 220 pounds ,I was just wondering if someone that big could ride one of those bikes ,everyone seems pretty small...thanks
Hey Eric, are you in the high or low setting on your BB? I watch a Pink bike review and all 3 of them rated the Enduro #1 but one of them said that hi switched the flip chip into the high position and the bike handles the corners noticeably better. @@VanCan thanks! I thought so by looks, but by the riding I assumed chromag or similar. That's even more impressive. A honzo isn't particularly slack by modern geometry standards. Goes to show you it's all about skill. A used honzo is pretty approachable by most.
I've been watching your videos for a while now and saw you on fromme, wanted to come say hi and tell you I liked your videos but you didnt seem interested. Made me feel dumb for even trying
well done. the guy on the hardtail is a freaking trail ninja.
Intense music worked.
And here I was expecting he'd prank us with "Yakety Sax" or "Never Gonna Give You Up".
Always love new videos from VanCan. I put them onto my Twitter to spread the word to the masses. 😍

We can pretty much ride year round!
The drama. The tension!!!! I am turning from holding my breath. Your sense of humor lies in the thousands degree.
Man I love those trails ,your so lucky riding those places
Great start to my morning. Really got me wanting to go out and ride my local trails today.
Winter in Southern California... In the Orange County... Pretty awesome weather too.
'Empress' looks bloody terrifying, even with the GoPro effect.
Richard H agreed

@@Mr_RichardH I have faith in you.

Cool trails! Lucky that you have mountains!
That’s a sweet bike. Sounds so quiet and quick.
Yeah dude sweet video.
That was such a awesome day 🤘
I like that janky trail.... although I'm sure it's gnarlier that the GoPro shows. Thanks for the video

Your riding so much better now on Specialized than YT
Always a good idea to run extra long cables in case you need to build a bike on the trail
The trails here are just fabulous you lucky son of a gun

Your vids are so inspiring, wish you a bright future man!
Awesome place. Great vid man.

Not gonna lie, that climb was one of my favorite parts of the video👍😂
I can't wait until one of our adventures takes us there
You are so lucky you get to ride that
Love those trails
Here in Central Oregon the weather was very nice like three or four days ago now the snow is back & the trails are covered. I WANNA RIDE😭
hardtail guy is so insane !
The speed after 11:57 blew my mind
I think you should do a video on Mt. Fromme it’s quite fun, anyways love the video!! You inspired me to ride today
I’ve got quiet a few there already :) but there’s more to come.
Ok thank you!
Just watching the guy on hard tail to inspire me so I can do that on my hard tail
Exact same thing
your lower back will get a lot of punishment to get this good on a hardtail
beautiful!! Thx 🤙
Damn probably one of your best decisions moving there, enjoy it
Probably!
All that snow looks like early May in the rest of Canada.

Sweet trails 😀

I’m working on getting down to 220 by next month 😝 so, yes.
anyone else hate it when hikers use the mtb trails?
Elliot Burkett Yes. I also hate it when bikers are on hiking trails!
You’re riding on 29er or 27.5 bike?
I wish I could afford a good bike so I can do more better trails, learn more and get better also love the vids keep it going
The dude in the red pants in riding a hardtail.. you dont need flash gear to have fun sending
What model is the hardtail bike???
Kona honzo
HT rules 🤘
What HT Ryan has?
Kona honzo
Very noice!
What’s your current filming setup?
Hero 8 on the chin of my full face
VanCan ima do that
Were you on the specialized enduro
Yup
VanCan I am looking for a new bike and this one is at the top of my list. Thank you for making Great informational videos on this bike
Does anyone ride over the top of that rock at the beginning of empress?
Ya you can drop off the rocks.

Wrong rider, I’m Nic :)
I’m in the low setting. I haven’t tried the high yet but maybe I will soon.
@@VanCan Sorry Nick. I had a senior moment. lol Thanks for your response. Let me know if you feel any difference. Bob T
Is Ryan clipped in on that hardtail?
nope
Is it the NF red pants that give Ryan the edge?
Could be !
Any plans to put a coil shock on?
Not on this bike
what hardtail does ryan ride? some sort of chromag?
Kona honzo
What hard tail was that guy riding?! He's fast!

What bikes is that???
Specialized enduro
What bike are you riding?
What bike was the hardtail rider on? Does he have a channel?

What hardtail is he riding?, i am in the market ;)
Kona Honzo
Rip forearms
Bro the guys on the hardtial is sweating in the first part of the vid
And the bike will stay big, I think if you accept that you will only benefit from it.
Your bike is so fucking quiet
Hard tail or no tail. I say that because I don't have enough money to upgrade.
The D stands for Donkey doesn't it.
Am I the only one stressed out because he doesn't have a finger on the left brake ?
