@@nathan7247 I'm not an expert but here's my two cents. I don't think mewing actually change the bone structure of the face. It'll tone - is what belive - your facial muscles. For me, it has also helped to get rid of baby fat, just like how the hump on the base of my neck eventually shrunk after I corrected my body posture. I really don't know the science behind it so I'm sorry I'm not much help, but if you have prominent facial bones and not much fat to get rid off, I don't think it's something for you. That is my thoughts based on personal experience. I could be wrong so it's better you asked someone more knowledge🙂 hope everything eventually works out for you.
So when my tongue is on top do you know when your very back of your tongue is against the top and you can’t breath through your nose ? Am I supposed to just lower it so I can’t breath through my nose ?
@@M__FO oh no I wasn't insinuating that you get rid of the fat. Im talking about its distribution throughout the body. You can weigh exactly the same and yet have certain areas appear slimmer than the other. What ive learned through my experience that aside from the areas that are more prone to having fat stores, the parts that slouch more and where muscles are less likely to be "active" are the sites where fat tends to deposit more. Like I've noticed that with mewing for instance, my muscles are in a constant stretch and I believe that this stretching helps in fat redistribution. Of course I'm well aware that one can't spot reduce fat but for me the results of my mewing and posture correction are too drastic to not believe that it doesn't work.
I modeled in my teens and early 20's, and this is what I did in photoshoots to give my face a more chisled and lifted look. I practiced it so much that it is now at 45 my natural resting facial position.
@@humaneBicycle it absolutely did, but I am not sure if it was my face maturing into my twenties, or if it was the mewing. I do know my jawline has definitely changed from my 20s into my 30s. I came across this video, because I feel like in my 40s, I am losing volume in my cheeks.
@@mgp3 Yeah, actually. I decided to check in the mirror and look at photos of my siblings who (I think don't mew) and I can see a pretty big difference. But I'm gonna be doing these tips you've given to see if I can get a *more* defined jawline if possible, haha. 😂
Also I noticed, teeth do have a major effect on how your face develop(not just mewing) throughout the years. I felt like my face was kinda assymetrical because of how my teeth are not perfectly aligned. So make sure that you get your braces if you're like me, chew on your molars and not in your front teeth and do not forget to mew.
So when my tongue is on top do you know when your very back of your tongue is against the top and you can’t breath through your nose ? Am I supposed to just lower it so I can’t breath through my nose ?
I feel the exact same way. My teeth are fairly straight but their alignment causes my jaw to look slightly offset. I will get braces soon to not only straighten my teeth better but also to hopefully realign my jaw.
I started mewing because of teeth grinding while sleeping and it worked absolute wonders. It took me a few days but at the moment I finally found the perfect mewing position I didn’t even have to remind myself to mew because it was THIS COMFORTABLE
So when my tongue is on top do you know when your very back of your tongue is against the top and you can’t breath through your nose ? Am I supposed to just lower it so I can’t breath through my nose ?
I‘ve been naturally doing this and it also makes sense. I‘ve watched this video about why people from certain countries usually have similar facial shapes and they explained that different languages use different kind of tongue positions so for my language its common to push ur tongue upwards.
The “chin tuck” technique was the game changer lightbulb moment for me.. I thought I had my full tongue against my palette until I did the chin tuck.. now I know what I’m aiming for.. great video
@@Edwin6264. try raising the back of your tongue until you feel your airway only slightly blocked, over time your bones will adapt and you’ll be able to put your whole tongue on the back part while breathing normally.
that's kind of the original theory behind mewing. kids who don't have good posture and breathe through their mouths get adenoid face, and john mew thought consciously correcting this could slowly change your facial structure. the more natural mewing feels, the less you might benefit from doing it consistently, because you've probably already been doing it by default.
This is a great video. I started mewing last year but today I learned that I was doing it wrong the whole time. that's why I haven't seen any progress I guess. You showed me the mistakes I made and I am thankful for that. I hope to be mindful enough to mew correctly the whole time now
So when my tongue is on top do you know when your very back of your tongue is against the top and you can’t breath through your nose ? Am I supposed to just lower it so I can’t breath through my nose ?
It’s scientifically proven to expand your upper palate in your mouth and expanding your airways in order to breathe more efficiently. Creating a better bone structure is an add on.
@@Kokurorokuko @Cyber Pleb Don't have a scientifc article for this. However, here's a a video about narrow palate's from Dr. Mew himself. th-cam.com/video/26KBKhaieSE/w-d-xo.html A very lectorial channel - talks about a lot of things besides Mewing, tongue chewing excercises, swallowing etc.
@@cyberpleb2472 Think of braces, they apply pressure into a certain direction and they rearrange your teeth over time. This is pretty much the same concept.

Great video, thank you! And for anyone trying to start the mewing jurney, I recommend you to configure some alerts on your smartphone every 2 hours just to remember you to keep mewing :) that's what I did and it's working for now, at least at the beginning
Hiii , thanks for this man. Honestly, I've got a pretty descent and prominent jawline but it's gotten a little bad over the years. I will start mewing now to get that back and make it even better if possible.
@@ximplw3419 the biggest thing I've learned is firstly, yes correct tongue posture is important. However, for me, mewing is moresoe about holding your head high and having confidence. Another thing I've learned through having my mouth closed most all of the time, is the amount of breathing I force myself to do through my nose. I learn something new about my posture and breathing every couple of weeks. Ive noticed my face change lot from breathing through my nose and picking my chin up.
@@tox1800 yes. The only positional concern you should have is that your not pushing your tongue into your front teeth. It should be right on the end of your gums or just barely touching the base of your front teeth.
HEY FELLAS! your likes will keep me reminding to update this regularly and be consistent with mewing ❤ Week 1 (25 September) - Start of mewing - childish face, not much fat, need chin gains and hunter eyes. Week 2 (2 oct) - no changes on face visually, But I could feel the change coming inside. - better posture, realised that my tongue was not pressing the upper palate evenly. (Fixing that) - Habit of mewing all the time is developing rapidly. - overall I’m feeling very positive about it. ❤️ Week 5 (jump of 2 weeks) [24 October) - habit of mewing has developed 80% and I feel very negligible changes in my looks but overall I am finding my confidence to be increasing! - now I’m focusing on best swallowing technique. - I have now starting focusing on my skills while anticipating that changes will come in long term (I have developed art of patience ✅) Week 7-8 (11 November) -I mew all the time (except when talking or eating of course). I apply pressure on upper palate with back part of tongue, and result is that MINOR CHANGES HAVE START TO COME!!! I got 2 love letters lately… lol (just side info) - a very little improvement in chin (protrusion outwards) - eyes look a little bit sharper. - and it also helping me in my singing practice (better breathing). Week 12-13 (15 December) (almost 4 months of mewing. -Mewing is now my permanent tongue position -Believe it or not - MEWING WORKS! I could see my jaw protruding out slowly and overall MORE DERFINED FACIAL structure. - it’s yet too early to see any tremendous changes but I’m so excited to see how sexier I will look in approaching time. Extra - thinking of starting gym too🙂 6 months mewwwww ❤️ It surely works. I just took before and after pics in these 6 month and realised change is there (what matters the most) Realisation I got in this 6th month is that having a STRAIGHT posture is Very Very important. (Don’t forget to make vaccum with tongue too) And, although I don’t do gym, I do basic exercise along with spread hands push-ups throughout the day. Also reading atomic habits is becoming a major game changer in my mindset journey. You should too (I’m at chapter 4 now)
Great video! Only difficult part for me which still remains unsolved is how to get the end of the tongue up on the pallete. Other than that, this video was really well organised and presented. You earned a new sub
I have never heard of this before. I’m 35, I’ve worked with talent agencies when I interned at Broadway Dance Studio in NYC- you would think I would have heard about it somewhere being surrounded by beautiful people, dancers, models, actors, singers. I find this SOOOO interesting!!
The only problem I consistently have is forward head posture. I’m an artist, I like reading, and I’ve been in school my whole life, so hunching over became a lifelong habit. Im insecure about how my face looks because of it. I’m hoping I can still get results at 23.
If it helps, you can fix posture in more than one way. I tend to slouch pretty easily too. As a 27 year old who grew up playing video games on my computer since I was 8, I used to spend whole days slouching. I didn’t realize the damage on my back and posture until much later. Anyway, I bought myself a sort of orthopedic belt that you pass around your armpits and to your back and it forces you to get your shoulders back otherwise it gets uncomfortable on your armpits. Unfortunately, if you’ve been slouching for as long as I have, you’ll notice your back muscles can’t handle the stress as easily as this is not the position you’ve encouraged them to support all those years. It will be uncomfortable at first but it will definitely help you. I still slouch now and then but I mostly have a good posture these days and it’s really helped me with lower back pain. On the plus side, once your back muscles have readjusted and your posture has improved, you can wear that belt pretty much the whole day without too much discomfort and you’ll have proper posture throughout the day. I don’t think it alone will solve all your problems but it’s really helped me a ton, you’d be surprised how much good it does on your body to have a proper posture the whole day. It costs barely more than 15 bucks and it improved your posture drastically. You can find those on Amazon.
What you’re referring to is called kyphosis and there are plenty of stretches and exercises on TH-cam that can help you recorrect your spinal posture, activate the proper muscles in your back, and open up the muscles in your chest and abdomen.
I've been doing this for the couple of months and I could say that my jawline is more noticeable than before (my facial structure is a bit on the oval shape). I think the fact that I have a thin physique (especially my face) also helps and doing some face exercises which I also found on yt helps. The first few weeks of mewing tbh were challenging it feels like I'm going to choke, and the hardest part was trying it as I sleep. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night to correct my tongue posture. But I got the hang of it eventually and now it just comes naturally. Although, Im adjusting myself again because I recently got my braces. But with proper discipline, I hope to see much visible result in the near future :)
This is the best video out there by far. The suction stuff doesn’t work but your explanation of chin tuck makes it easier. At least I think I’m doing it right now
Thanks so much I started mewing like 2-3 yrs ago and I can def tell a difference!!in my younger self compare to now my upper cheek bones look more forward and the cheek hones look more structure
i've been trying to mew for a very long time but this video made me realized that i've only been touching my soft palette with the tip of my tongue, not most of my tongue! thank you!
May I ask how old are you now? Jawlines are mostly develop during puberty/adolescence. It may not be effective when I'm already 23 Just getting my hopes up
Buddy. THis tutorial is the best one out there. Not only talkin about mewing, compared to other tutorials aswell. Theory was well explained, aslo the step were explained and shown. Great job!
I was confused on that part about getting the last 3rd of my tongue to my palate but when you said the chin tuck technique, I was able to do it easily and I've made some impressive jaw gains since following all of these steps.
@@lpb3731 well I just watched the first part of the vid and I think I did that, I realized if you can't feel where should your tongue go through your mouth you can do this, put your finger in your throat lol(wash your hands first :D) then you feel everything you've eaten is gonna throw up at this moment back of your tongue touches the upper palate try this eventually you can control it, and beware it's hard to breathe
@@Cronalixz ok I will describe u very honestly. 11 months of mewing journey- Deep small eyes with sharped nose bridge Sharped jawline with a broad face Hollow and visible cheek bones. Still needs more time to achieve full potential 💪
There is another mewing video where the consequence of breathing through the mouth is described and shown -that the nose area goes forward gradually. So the proper way to breathe is through the nose.
I've already been doing this my whole life. It's like vacuum sealing your mouth. I had a bad habit as a kid of having a relaxed jaw and leaving my lips slightly open. I also used to slouch a lot. Someone pointed it out once, and I became self conscious of it. It became a habit, so much so, that dentists would complain I seem to be grinding my teeth, possibly in my sleep. Either way, it seems to have definitely paid off, and I didn't even know this was something people train to do.
Bro I'm subbing to your channel for these amazing tips and the fact you're an actual living example plus you got the result even at the age of 25 is hugely motivating to keep sticking to this. Kudos to you man!
Bro all this time I was irritated of all those elders saying “keep your back straight.....” but now I realised that that was so important. So I’m now actually grateful to those elder for reminding me about that back posture. KEEP GOING!!GET THOSE GAINS!
I was always told to relax your tongue and not hold it on top, but I started mewing a few months ago and now it’s just habit and I’ve noticed a bit of a change :)
I’ll update y’all along my journey👍. Started a few weeks ago and haven’t seen crazy results, however I have gotten comments about my jawline believe it or not haha. I think that is mostly from the fact that when you push with the back of your tongue, it lifts up the stuff beneath the chin, giving the allusion of a more defined jawline.
Someone liked my comment so it reminded me about this post I made… so heres an Update: I’ve been doing it on and off for the last couple months. Being forced to wear masks in school was actually a blessing in disguise because it let me mew literally all the time without looking weird haha. I’m also a really skinny guy, and am in the process of bulking up(gaining weight) and have gone from 5’11” and 132 pounds up to 148 pounds in a little over a year. That being said, I’ve still noticed the results from my mewing despite having a slightly higher body fat percentage due to my weight gain. I’ve noticed how much stronger my my jaw feels, and also how my face is now much less narrow and more masculine looking. The muscles on my temple and side of the jaw(I think they’re called the masiter muscles?) now are visibly contracting and moving every time I eat or quench my teeth. I think it looks cool and makes my face/jaw look much stronger. Honestly guys, I do think mewing is helpful, but what really helped me out was chewing lots of gum all the time. My jaw muscles would literally be sore the day after I chewed lots of gum, and I did it a few days every week. I am now much more confident in the way I look and don’t feel as boyish or skinny looking. P.S.- I’m 17 and just this last month got into my first serious relationship . I am very picky with girls so this was a big step for me. I’m sure it’s a coincidence that we started dating when I was a month or two into mewing, but maybe the confidence it gave me about my looks gave me the courage to ask her out in the first place. Either way y’all, would highly suggest mewing/chewing gum/jaw exercises, after a while you don’t even think about it you just do it, and I have seen big results just a few months in. Good luck and God bless👍
I would like thank you for the video. After seeing the video last year January. I have been mewing for over year now and my jaw line has grown and developed dimples on the sides. I have noticed I get more looks and head turns from the ladies. I already had a pretty decent looking face but now get noticed much more. Thank you!
Really loved this tutorial. So here is my scene, I'm 24 y/o, 5'11 male. I am overweight with 20-25% bodyfat. When I was young I did had a pretty good jawline but I never had the hollowcheek look. I recently discovered mewing and wanted to give it a try. I noticed that the back of my tongue is already touching the upper portion of the mouth, however the front portion isn't and when I try to put the front portion of my tongue to the top palaet of my mouth I start salivating, like after every 3 seconds, I noticed that I can swallow pretty normally without moving my lips and cheeks, and I also noticed that I chew food with my mouth open. Anyone else here who also faced the same issues of salivating a lot when placing the front portion of the tongue up their upper palaet?
I am discovering mewing and it appears that I can do the swallow technique already if I focus enough. Now I need to chew better. Thank you for your video !
I came here to make my jawline pop and appear from the front instead of just the side(which In my opinion is considered strong I think idk haven't looked at what strong jawline looks like) but appearently I've been doing this my whole life without knowing
my mewing experience: day 1: jaw has a burning sensation, overall okay just tried to figure out the correct position for my tongue day 2: oftenly forgot to maintain the body and tongue posture, especially after eating, still making progress! Also when I touch my jaw it kinda hurts (?) day 3: jaw didn't hurt much but still a bit of discomfort trying to breath correctly (maybe because I have cold) day 4: change in atmosphere makes it a bit hard to breath, no change yet day 5: I felt like my cheeks had been more puffier than anything else, idk if it's just my mind day 6: more comfier now! If I don't do the correct posture it just feels weird so got used to it in 6 days day 7: pretty good, jaw seems to have a lil bit of change, I will start keeping track of any changes from now day 8: body posture seems to be easier now! day 9: no change day 10: my jaw is kind of different (not alot but I can see that their is a little bit of difference in shape) -- skipped cause no change -- day 15: good news ! jawline is a bit more visible! day 20: didn't notice any other change day 30: so my jaw has a shape (the change is almost not visible, but they said it's gonna take long for a major change so let's see!) I AM BANGING FAM, jaw is clearly visible. Although I thought I would also have slim cheeks but that isn't the case, only the jawline. It's been like two months or so? (For people asking about how to do the posture correctly go to the reply section!) Month (?) : Visible jawline, not happy with my cheeks cause they like pop out when I smile so I will have to exercise for that. Mewing definitely helped! Go for it if you are looking for a good jawline. (Also please make sure to have good body posture I keep forgetting and I think it would be much easier if I remember to keep a straight back and all)
That chin tuck method is actually clutch. I tried mewing when I was 15 2 years ago. I stopped because i did not notice any changes, apparently, what i was doing was wrong. I’ve been pushing the tip of my tongue to my upper palette all this time lol
@@pierceyu4546 hi a question for you mate did you apply any sort of pressure when your tongue was against the upper palate or do you apply pressure to the back of your tongue?
i realized ive been doing this naturally too, i do have a good jawline so i guess it does work. Im not from US, in my country there are more vegetables and things like that and all my family has good jawline because they ate and eat hard food, like carrots. They also didn't need brackets and they have perfectly aligned teeth.
This is very interesting. Idk how I stumbled on these types of videos but this is the first time I’m learning ‘mewing’ isn’t a natural position for most people, and I’m curious to know what is natural for most. I’ve done this all my life.

HEY FELLAS! your likes will keep me reminding to update this regularly and be consistent with mewing ❤
Week 1 (25 September)
- Start of mewing - childish face, not much fat, need chin gains and hunter eyes.
Week 2 (2 oct)
- no changes on face visually, But I could feel the change coming inside.
- better posture, realised that my tongue was not pressing the upper palate evenly. (Fixing that)
- Habit of mewing all the time is developing rapidly.
- overall I’m feeling very positive about it. ❤️
Week 5 (jump of 2 weeks) [24 October)
- habit of mewing has developed 80% and I feel very negligible changes in my looks but overall I am finding my confidence to be increasing!
- now I’m focusing on best swallowing technique.
- I have now starting focusing on my skills while anticipating that changes will come in long term (I have developed art of patience ✅)
Week 7-8 (11 November)
-I mew all the time (except when talking or eating of course). I apply pressure on upper palate with back part of tongue, and result is that MINOR CHANGES HAVE START TO COME!!! I got 2 love letters lately… lol (just side info)
- a very little improvement in chin (protrusion outwards)
- eyes look a little bit sharper.
- and it also helping me in my singing practice (better breathing).
Week 12-13 (15 December) (almost 4 months of mewing.
-Mewing is now my permanent tongue position
-Believe it or not - MEWING WORKS! I could see my jaw protruding out slowly and overall MORE DERFINED FACIAL structure.
- it’s yet too early to see any tremendous changes but I’m so excited to see how sexier I will look in approaching time.
Extra - thinking of starting gym too🙂

I have never heard of this before. I’m 35, I’ve worked with talent agencies when I interned at Broadway Dance Studio in NYC- you would think I would have heard about it somewhere being surrounded by beautiful people, dancers, models, actors, singers. I find this SOOOO interesting!!
So glad to have introduced you to it ;)
The only problem I consistently have is forward head posture. I’m an artist, I like reading, and I’ve been in school my whole life, so hunching over became a lifelong habit. Im insecure about how my face looks because of it. I’m hoping I can still get results at 23.
Same here. Will definitely do this tomorrow, but will be a hard path to doing it consistently.
What you’re referring to is called kyphosis and there are plenty of stretches and exercises on TH-cam that can help you recorrect your spinal posture, activate the proper muscles in your back, and open up the muscles in your chest and abdomen.
i swear i though mewing was an exercise, not a habit that slowly changes you, glad i saw your video
