I just started playing. I spent 8 hours and died probably 100 times. It would have been nice if the game would have suggested this as a 'go to' for beginners. Even after watching the 1st 5 videos I didn't pick up on the fact that without using a pick, you get 0 drops from stone and above. After watching the 2nd time I caught where you mentioned the pick was for mining, and then further realized later that the higher stuff dropped only with a higher level pick. Thanks for the video. I will be sure to watch the rest of them. I hope you explain a boat . . . Happened to make one and some mob took it over. I never did figure out how to make it move anywhere!
Thanks so much. I bought the game for my daughter, but she never played bc she didn't know how. Now, she just built her first weapon. This was super helpful. She was doing things as you were explaining. We appreciate it!!
Thank you so so much! I tried to play Minecraft with a group of friends that have played for years, and was getting frustrated. This was such a well-organized, easy to understand tutorial that actually made me eager to jump into the game again!
This is what I needed. I was trying to kill mobs with a stick, then after I died and lost my stuff, I tried to use a cactus. That didn't work very well.
Same because I spent all those years on creative mode. Building cities, giant structures, Bridges and etc. Never went in survival mode because I think it was boring and creative is fun. I would've been a fucking god in Minecraft right now, ahhhhh
I bought it for the switch and only played it so far for an hour. Survival mode confuses me and I have zero patience with learning lol. Though I've been wanting to play creative mode and build cities I just don't play anymore.
My son is six years old and just got into playing this game. Unfortunately we watched 4 to 6 other “beginner” videos before finding yours. Yours was by far the best and explained everything perfectly. Thanks for helping us beginners out!! 👍
This is the video that started it all off... my 7-year-old son and I are about 12 videos in to the "Back to Basics" series, we downloaded Minecraft at the weekend and the series that started with this video taught us how to get started. Of course, he's 7, so being killed by a skeleton _really_ upset him when night came but that meant we had to talk about it, how that's part of this game, that's part of gaming in general. I realised that the mouselook / WSAD that's automatic to me still needs to be learned when you're 7 years old, that you'll spend a fair bit of time staring at the floor or the ceiling or the sky while thinking you're running away from monsters and having to look at the keys that mean you can move... but he's picking it up really well. Just a last note, from a Londoner, he (aged 7) said he liked watching these videos even when not a lot seems to happen, because "@capp00 has a kind voice", which has inspired him a _lot_ to trust and learn from you. Thank you. :)
This is the best compliment I've received in a long time. Thank you very much, to you and your son. Do tell him Capp says hello and thank you for watching my videos :D
Man if he's still playing a year later I would love to know how he's progressed. Good on you for reaching out to Capp, I can imagine it really means a lot to hear that as a creator. Especially considering the context of these videos -he set out to help people and getting feedback like this must mean the world. Good luck to you and your son in all you do!
My kid just got this. Having missed the whole minecraft thing I just didnt get it, but, having watched him playing, we now play together and loving building and exploring!
Chop down 2 trees and create a crafting table and a wooden pick axe, then fully break the pick axe by getting almost a stack of wood and some coal if you find any, then get a full set and backup set with the sticks and stone you got, get food and start a farm next to a river near your spawn point, get sheep while you hunt and chop more trees for more wood and use a pick axe to make a hole in a hill for a first day base, sleep through the night, repeat until you have leather armor from cows and horses. With all of your resources go mining and get iron so u can make iron set of armor and tools, do this until you have other stuff, travel while doing this and raid villages. Once you get diamonds make a diamond pick axe and get obsidian and go to the nether and get your potion ingredients and more, go back to the main world and get potions and get more diamonds until you have a full set, now it might sound crazy but this should be the only part where you stay up for a Minecraft night, hunt down a bunch of mobs so you can increase resources. Make everything you need to do the enter dragon such as potions, bow, enchantments and what not. Noe kill the render dragon and realize you completed Minecraft in 2 hours.

I learned watching videos I thought she might too. Thanks for making this 😁👍
Just got this game a couple days ago. A relative was talking about it at a party and next day I downloaded the demo on PS4. Loved it and bought the full version. Thanks for this video 👍
Thank you for a clear, concise tutorial and demonstration. This is what I need when I come to TH-cam for game help. Straight to the point, no fluff, clear screen view and voiceover; a how-to with tips perfectly interlaced with the correct subject matter. 10/10, a level of proficiency I could never attain myself, but is exactly what I was searching for.

I have never played but as I now work in a school, they want me to supervise a minecraft club - this is so useful for me, just encase any of the kids have never played, I'll at least have some idea of how to get them started

Good video! But I have a few things to add... 1) 1 coal was plenty for the 3 pieces of raw beef, you didn't need any more. 1 coal can cook 8 items. And that piece of coal burns all the way whether there are 8 items, or 4 items, or only 1 item. So it's best to wait until you have 8 of something, or a multiple of 8, so that you don't waste anything. If you are cooking less than that, use wood sticks instead of coal. 2 wood sticks cooks 1 item. So therefore, 6 wood sticks to cook the 3 pieces of beef would have been less wasteful. 2) Spiders are indeed affected by the sun. They don't catch on fire, but they do become docile in the daylight, so they won't attack unless you attack first. An important tidbit to remember so that you aren't running away from harmless spiders in the daytime. 3) The day was getting very late and you hadn't started working on a shelter. I know that is fine just for the purposes of showing this tutorial, but part of any beginner Minecraft tutorial should include how to create a basic hidey hole in the side of a mountain at least, for the first night, or else you are going to have a very bad night. This would have been an important thing to add.
I am just starting out on Minecraft, and boy is it like a drug. It's addictive when you start to figure things out. I really want the Java edition now so I can experiment with mods and play with kb/mouse
This was great. I bought it, played a few hours on creative peaceful, chopped up trees and something underground. Never was able to collect anything. Playing on an iPad and was getting ready to write it off as $7 I could have spent on lunch. So, I haven’t used your tips yet, but you gave me ideas, now I have to figure out how to translate them to the pe edition and maybe I can actually accomplish something, anything, just to know the game works and I’m not in some sort of demo where I can do nothing but watch. Thanks again.
I've been playing this game since 2012 or something like that but there are still many thinks I don't know so I'm gonna watch this lol Edit: Ok that were really basic thinks I already knew (wow I think I'm to dumb to read the title) but still, this video was great so I left a like :D
We used to play MC when it first came out, at the time there was 8 blocks or so, and that was IT. Now i'm 32 and just got the game again, crazy to see what this game has become. I can see why it's so popular now. Thanks for the help, I was so lost.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this beautiful tutorial! My daughter just started to use Minecraft (educational edition) and she didn’t know what to do and this helped her a lot ✨👌🏼 Please can you make another tutorial showing kids how to build their survival home step by step and what they need to put in their mind to build a good home.? Thank you for this!! My daughter wanted to start playing and this helped sooo much. I also really appreciate you saying “beginner”, “new players”, etc instead of n00b! ^.^
Thanks so much for this! Just picked up the Switch version for the first time & I definitely need the hints, LOL. I actually avoided this game for ages, as I always thought it was a multiplayer game without a single-player mode. Learned otherwise a few days ago & decided to use some of my B-day money to get it, so hopefully it’s a chill enough game that I can get better at with practice. I’m very disabled, so I do like to play games & forget the world sometimes. Hoping the “spiders” are less scary than they sound, though! 😄💖

I've been playing this game since 2012 or something like that but there are still many thinks I don't know so I'm gonna watch this lol
Edit: Ok that were really basic thinks I already knew (wow I think I'm to dumb to read the title) but still, this video was great so I left a like :D
thanks for this man , I just started today . this got me up to speed . seriously thank you
This single video got me into Minecraft. Many years of Minecraft.
Glad to hear it :)
We used to play MC when it first came out, at the time there was 8 blocks or so, and that was IT. Now i'm 32 and just got the game again, crazy to see what this game has become. I can see why it's so popular now. Thanks for the help, I was so lost.

@@capp00 but why didnt you do a part 2?
I dunno. When I first released this video, it didn't do very well at all. Not many watched it. It gained traction over the years, but by then, I was past it.
@@capp00 well i am still having trouble playing it any way thanks tho for the video!
Thank you for this!! My daughter wanted to start playing and this helped sooo much. I also really appreciate you saying “beginner”, “new players”, etc instead of n00b! ^.^
My pleasure. Glad I could help and enjoy playing the game with your daughter :)
@@capp00 thanks I found this very useful as I'm the noob here😂
Thanks so much for this! 😄💖
THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO EVER. I didn’t know how to make things in the craft thingy but he taught me how! Thank you soooo much
Glad I could help!
When I buy Minecraft I feel like I know how it feels to have good taste in games

I’ve been playing Minecraft creative for years but just now getting into playing survival so now I need help 😂 this was very helpful for sure!

I got some woods

I dont think you'll see this but.. Thanks Capp00, you really were one of the people who shaped my minecraft journey, which will never end! (Im still a teen hehe)
Glad you found your way back :)
Yes thank you! I have had no idea how to make torches cos I can’t find coal, and it’s sooo simple! I resorted to using glass skylights in my mine so I can see, I kept reading that coal was pretty deep. Lol. I’ve been playing since yesterday and OMG it is so addictive!
Where's part 2?
Oh no, there's no part 2?
i yo head
who also is looking at the comments and not listening to the video even though we need to
2 years late yet I'm called out
according to my math by time you have watched this whole video there should be atleast 192 new minecraft players.
Nice guess, but I'm guessing its probably about 200 people joining every hour.
Thank you, finally someone explains it 😭 I couldn’t make a stick before this vid, had no idea what icon were.
