Tbh the 600 Verados are an attempt to reduce the amout of engines by making them bigger, and having a lower unit capable of pushing more water. Althought the amount of horsepower is ridiculous.
@@brentmcmahon8188 Yep, I tried to design an RC version of this engine using a brushless motor and a servo to steer the propeller area and it was becoming a nightmare to keep the electronics protected. But yeah, it's very cool how the steering works on this engine.
That boat setup is awesome, the 600s are remarkably quiet and 66 mph in a boat that size is nuts. I like how Formula left room for a tender on the aft transom. Good attention to detail considering the draft of this boat makes a tender necessary for island hopping.

I worked for Formula in 1986, and 1987, the curved windshields, the silent thunder exhausts, now 4 V-12 outboards, next give me automatic docking yachts. I'm so proud of Formula, such an amazing boat
2:21 What's most noticeable to me is how little vibration there in those motors. It is usual to see small sideways and bouncing movement in outboards at speed... these things are rock solid which makes you wonder if that vibration is transferring to the hull. I don't think it matters because the motors are surely mounted to mitigate that, but still interesting to see zero movement.
Great boat, thanks for the tour. I have one question - why is there a galley in the salon and another galley in the cabin? That seems redundant since the salon can be completely closed off from the weather. Can it be customized to use the cabin galley space for something else?
When I was ten, I had a 12 foot outboard racing prom with two new 7.5HP 1957 Evinrudes. I was hot stuff. I made a trailer out of bicycle tires and 2 x 4’s and would pull it up and down our front hill, Coconut Grove, to the Merrill Balf Docks across bayshore drive.. I used my grandparents 1958 Edsel.

Major props to the crew for smooth video on a moving boat. The boat and engines are quite impressive. I like the "over the top" amenities. Great design. You should have given fuel consumption numbers and vessel price. Except for one thing..... Those speaker grills belong in a clapped out 1990's Honda Civic.

Very, very nice boat mind you, close to ideal for where I live (lot's of sheltered bay area as well as offshore running) and I'd be more than happy as long as the range is good. This could have been an awesome boat. It looks soooo cheap with the thin chrome bars in the back. Just continue the fiber glass and create a large fold down swim platform.
I really want to see if someone like Searay comes out with a sub 30 foot bowrider with one of these on the back lolol Edit: Come to find out, two 300hp fourstrokes are actually lighter than one of these, makes me realize this engine is more about space savings on the transom than anything. The gearbox might make the difference in performance though.
The difference is that with one of these you would use a lot less fuel. You also get the steering system and the dualing prop, which almost eliminates cavitation
I just thought about how much time it would be to clean this boat after being in storage and getting moldy and dirty. Beautiful boat, amazing engines, made for specific customer, just not the low maint. one for me!
I’ve seen multiple demonstrations of this motor now, but no one has showed how well the boat reverses. With the TRP props I would imagine there little reverse power with these motors. Makes stopping or backing up incredibly difficult.
that's all great for the quiet backwaters but would like to see it handle Beaufort inlet and a ride out to Cape Lookout. Transom is really low. Reggie Fountain would have that going at least 80+ ;)

Well it’s a v12! it produces less of those "bassy" tones than the v8’s, Also much smoother so less vibration.
Can't wait until the 600 tiller steer comes out next year!

V-12 is the correct architecture for 1K horsepower in a marine four stroke platform. Pump fuel quality is a limiting factor with forced induction.

Mercury is claiming 20% better economy with a pair of these motors versus a triplet of 425 hp motors from a competitor.
